Was Adam the "Angel" real or a figment of J.R.'s drunken hallucination?

Since "J.R. Returns" is no longer cannon, what do you think Bobby saw when he heard the gunshot and raced into J.R.'s room?

Do you think J.R. went into his catatonic state immediately after this episode (meaning he was in a catatonic state for 21 years), or did that happen later on?

Finally, given Satan's interest in J.R.......do you think J.R. is going to Hell?

JR is throwing out dollar bills, double crossing Moses and sleeping with a hot angel. Heaven suddenly became a lot more interesting.

JR OutSataned Satan! Satan got so extremely jealous that he threw JR out of hell. Now JR's in heaven giving God a bad name and sleeping with the hottest angels and buying his way to a rebirth after he finishes trashing Gods reputation. Gods gonna be mightily glad to give JR a reincarnation to wreck havoc on earth! John Ross had better watch out, his first child is gonna be JR reincarnated. The question is will JR be a boy or a girl?

Since Angels, Satan, and JR are all works of fiction, I would say it is fiction.

I disregard what Cidre says. In my mind, JR Returns is canon, and JR went into his catatonic state sometime after being voted out of Weststar. Bobby and Sue Ellen sold their shares of Ewing Oil years ago, and Pamela Rebecca is unfamiliar to the Ewings because she had plastic surgery after a car accident.

Also, although John Ross chose to live with Sue Ellen in England, she decided she missed him so much that she would never let him go back to Dallas again. She then kept him in an English boarding school, and only brought him back to Dallas after JR's presumed death in 1996. That's why John Ross resents her, and he still resents JR for losing Ewing Oil and for faking his death.

I realize there's a lot of "fan wanking" going on here, but it's my way of trying to keep the continuity intact.

    I deeply like your explanations.

However, you should explain why the Ewing Oil Company was again in the hands of Cliff Barnes and why he is now more "fierce" than ever before.

Ewing Oil could have been facing hard times. JR, having been voted out of Weststar, makes a last ditch effort to take over Ewing Oil. Bobby and Sue Ellen decide to sell Ewing Oil back to Cliff Barnes because they're still upset at JR for faking his own death and orchestrating a rustling operation on Southfork. This ultimately leads to JR's depressed state in the nursing home.

Cliff, on the other hand, does business with Duke Carlisle and is invited to his weekly poker games. Cliff discovers he has a knack for it, and decides to sell Ewing Oil and buy his own casinos. Upset that Cliff sold Ewing Oil, Christopher resents him and doesn't have anything to do with him until Cliff invites him and Pamela Rebecca to his hotel room. Cliff orchestrated the plot for Pamela Rebecca to marry Christopher so she could spy on the Ewings. Once Cliff see's that Christopher isn't interested in a reconciliation or having him loan him money, he decides to go full speed ahead with his plan to take the methane extraction project away from Christopher.

Again, there's a lot of fan wanking going on here, but that's how I would reconcile it in my mind.

That's some great fan wanking, Sid Fairgate. If anyone is lurking out there, perhaps a consultant position is in order? Writers have to be able to wiggle out of even self-made pickles.

In your opinion, also "The War of the Ewing" is canon? I consider canon everything that happens.

Thank you. I just hate it when continuity doesn't make sense. Even if you take the reunions out of it, they're still vague as to when and how JR ended up in the nursing home. I also think it's dumb that they never say exactly what happened to Ewing Oil on the show. All we have to go by is that lame Facebook page. Ewing Oil was a huge part of the original series, and to treat it like an after-thought really pisses me off.

Yes. Only the dream season isn't canon because an explanation was used within the series to retcon it.

Maybe, Dallas Season 1985-1986 was a dream in the Sandman District and a reality in Dallas Hearth 2 :p

They will never explain to us fans what happened to JR in his room at the end of the series. We are not supposed to care!!! It sounds like David Jacobs wouldn't have told us either!!

In the TNT series I was expecting JR to try and get Ewing Oil back. Not that I did not like Southfork being front and center but Ewing Oil had been the center of the original show. I would have thought that that was what caused JR catatonic state losing the company. Either try and get Ewing Oil back or take over Weststar. I understand that Larry Hagman could not be in many episodes.

Finally, Sid Fairgate, I love your ideas. I have always said that sometimes fans come up with better storyline ideas that the writers do.

Have you read the Facebook Timeline? According to the timelinne, part of JR Return IS canon.
    Such as:
-he was shooting at a mirror
-soon after, he left for Europe for 5 years, having limited contact with Bobby in those years
-returned in 1996 while working out a scheme to get Sue Ellen and John Ross back from Europe(not spcifiend what that was).

But there is not mentioning of the Ewinbgs getting EO back, so I guess THAT is out of continuity now. But he was certainly not at a sanatarium for 21 years.

The sanatarium stuff is interesting. I mean JR is not the type to just give up so easily.
