Here is a thread about general discussion of Elvis, the King Of Rock And Roll. I have admired him for years and it was mums listening to his music that rubbed off on me years after his death.

In about 1992 I can remember mum had bought a cassette and she showed it to me and it was Elvis she said. That triggered my liking for him. I began to really get into his music. Then on i could even be seen at home doing Elvis impressions in front of the TV. On 8th January 1993 when I was still 10 I can remember that day as I was at school and thought to myself "it would have been his 58th birthday today".

Elvis would have been 77 if still alive. My fave songs of his are Jailhouse Rock and his version of Unchained Melody. And I liked his Glory Glory Hallelujah song. I take it may of you are fans of his?

I'm a huge Elvis fan. I collect Elvis stuff, though nothing worth mentioning. I liked him ironically enough after watching Dallas, and we saw Priscilla in it, (I was only around 7 or so then) but my mom said "That was Elvis Presley's wife." Just by the way she said it (That was the only time elvis was ever talked about in my childhood) I could tell that this Elvis person must have been important. So when I had the chance to read her autobiography I was mesmerized. This larger than life figure must have really been something, so after that I became semi-obsessed with Elvis. My dream vacation= graceland

My mum visited Graceland with her sister in 2006. They then visited where Elvis was born. I hope to visit Graceland one day.

I was watching a Trevor McDonald Mighty Mississippi programme and he visited Memphis. Some people criticise Elvis saying he was overrated and sung other peoples songs but most big singers are written many of their songs.

I was seven years old when Elvis died and I still remember watching the clips from his funeral on my great aunt's t.v. set. I prefer alot of Elvis' earlier music when his voice was more pure and un tainted by the 'elvis sound"..stuff like love me tender, how great thou art","jailhouse rock". but i think my favorite Elvis song is a lesser known hit.."His Latest Flame".

Elvis played more mature songs as he got older as his early ones were funkier such as Jailhouse Rock and Heartbreak Hotel. One of his lesser known songs is Tickle Me.

Way Down is one of my fave later hist followed by Just Cant Help Believin.
