Dynasty didn't leave much to continue imho, but if it was possible then it had to happen at least 10 years ago.
Most original actors are 100 years old now...it's too late.
Besides, what makes you think that a sequel series wouldn't be a teeny bop version?

And how is this going to affect the original series? I've seen many bad movie remakes and it didn't stop me from loving the originals.
Are we not intelligent enough to distinguish between Dynasty and NuDynasty?

That's pure BS. A continuation wouldn't rely on the original actors to lead the show, so the fact that they're older is irrelevant. Nor is it a given that a show focused on the younger generation would be a tween-fest.

And how did the show not leave much to continue? There is infinite potential for stories to continue and build anew.

Yeah, you're referring to a movie remake. This is a television series, which is the original medium. If it sucks, we won't get another Dynasty project on TV or likely anywhere else again for decades, if ever. This is the one shot and based on the insider information that was provided, even The Shapiro's tried to resist doing it this way before ultimately giving in to higher powers.

Intelligence? None of your responses seemed adequate, so you may want to choose words more carefuly.

If you feel that strongly about it why don't you do somerhing positive to get the attention of the CBS brass, something to show them that their is a demand for the continuation.

the Shapiros have been trying for years, and this is the only thing the CBS/CW brass would get behind.

i hope the remake doesnt leave Dynasty viewers feeling the same way as me about Dallas

that it was dire, dreadful, awful, wish it had never been done and an imcompetant and clueless producer in charge who made me hate it

    Good luck tho :mall:

Matthew you are soooo wicked!! Well, actually yes. I even bought a designer bathing suit for the occasion!! Miss Piggy, though, opted for a classic one...

To be totally honest to you, I´m going to make myself comfortable and watch any other series instead. I´ll be following this board but I´m afraid that it´ll be too easy to joke about this "Dysentry II: The Relapse" and its network The W.C. (End of my jokes until the show is over)

Out of respect I wish the best ride to all the friends here who are enough open-minded to see a remake of your favorite series.

I never watched the "Psycho" remake, and I´d never have watched "Dallas" if it had been remade with John Gayvolta & Jennifer Lop-ass. But I did enjoy the first 2 seasons of TNT "Dallas" partly because I could share my opinions with all of you here (and a few friends in my non-virtual life), which I could never do with the original series.

So make a toast with a fine wine and eat some snacks (don´t waste the champagne and caviar), because I think that´ll be the best way to watch this re-imagining.

Reminds me of something similar happening to another 80's iconic show. Show-runner is given permission to run with her version of what makes good television, just one request, ignore the reunion movies and go from there. History informs us what happened next.

It's exactly how I feel/felt about TNT Dallas. Given my long association with Dallas I had hoped someone with passion for the original TV series would resurrect it to its rightful place of must watch television. I watch very little that is on offer today. I don't have satellite or subscribe to any of the streaming services so I'm left with whatever is served up on commercial television. The choices here in Australia on the three main commercial networks is wafer thin. I have zero interest in any of those pseudo reality programs and that includes so called cooking, building, renovating homes etc. And I'm obviously not alone since I speak with numerous people throughout the day and they have the same thoughts as I do.

The resurrection of Dallas was a no-brainer. It had a rich history to start from and a collection of core characters to work with. In fact the three main players Larry, Patrick and Linda were still around. Others have suggested Dynasty may not have that rich history to work with but I disagree. Begin with Krystina (daughter of Blake and Krystle) and work from there. She would now be 33 years of age I suspect, married with children. Seriously how difficult is this? If myself and others on this spectrum we call soapchat can conjure up scenarios, why is it people who understand their craft (show-runners, writers, producers) are so utterly useless at it? And how are they allowed to get away with it?

Krystina who? LB who? Danny who?

Sorry, but DALLAS was the only show with "iconic" kids because they were an important part of the show's history and main characters, especially JR of course.
Steven and Danny didn't have that kind of relationship. Fallon's daughter? Who is she, and who cares? How's that going to look like DYNASTY?
A "post-Blake" sequel could have been interesting, 15 or 20 years ago, when Collins and Evans were still vital enough to do this kind of intensive TV work (preferably, together with Stephanie Beacham).
But now it's too late. It's over, finito, basta.

A remake is the only good reason to bring it back. Why is everyone so determined to hate it? Just so you can say "I told you so?"
Blake, Steven, Fallon...they're coming back! How can you NOT be happy?

Well, not everyone's determined to hate it. ;) I've said this before, and I'll say it again: I don't believe this will be a good show, but I do believe it'll be a fun show. And the little details here and there tell me that they've done their research on the old show, such as Fallon saying the line, "You look so elegant, I hardly recognized you!" I mean come on, people, the references! It'll be so much fun trying to spot all the different references!

And I can't be happier with the actress they've chosen for Fallon. I don't care what anybody says, Liz Gillies is the best thing about this remake. Its no wonder they've made Fallon the main character this time around (presumably, judging by how heavily featured she is in the trailer). :D

    Yes.
Also because her friends have told her "don't screw it up, this is important".:)

I had my doubts about some of the casting choices, but it looks different on film. True, there are no Linda Evanses and Al Corleys in this one, and maybe it's better that "Krystle" is written differently - to avoid a painful comparison. Perhaps the idea is more thought out than we realize.

Btw, what are the chances of an avalanche cliffhanger in Atlanta? Perhaps Blake owns a luxurious chalet in Aspen?:D

She has reliable friends, then. :D Hm, though this reminds me of what Emma Watson said in an interview for her role as Belle in the new "Beauty and the Beast", she said to herself, "DON'T SCREW THIS UP." I thought Emma did a pretty good job, I thought she gave a real sincere performance. And I see the same thing here with Ms. Gillies; from the little I've seen so far, she does seem like she cares about the role... which is more than can be said about PSM, who openly admitted she didn't care about Fallon. ^^

I didn't like the casting for Steven at first, but seeing him in the trailer, I don't know... there is something about his expressions that vaguely remind me of Al Corley for some reason. And what's more, his character actually *does* seem like he's a nice guy (yes, yes, there was that whole "Who the hell are you doing here" comment, but if you think about it, its actually quite natural for the Carringtons to be so casual about their sex lives). The little banter he had with Fallon in their first scene together was really cute; they actually did seem like they shared a close bond.

[Oh yes, and did anybody notice... THE CARRINGTONS HAVE A *DOG* NOW?! A *DOG*! ...and in case some of you don't know why I'm freaking out over this, allow me to reference something Emma Samms said in an interview: "Everybody was sleeping with everybody. Its a good thing the Carringtons didn't have a dog, otherwise that dog would be in serious trouble!"]

Also, there's that one moment Blake and Cristal share, where Cristal outright states that Blake "manipulates people." That's actually reminiscent of Krystle used to call out her own Blake. In the early days, Krystle wasn't afraid to list Blake's bad points and often opposed him whenever she thought he was wrong. That could be the case here with Cristal.

[And I'm starting to really like that they've changed the spelling of her name; I prefer it to saying "New Krystle" and "Old Krystle."]

I would love that, the Carringtons going off to Aspen or some other mountain-y region to spend some time at a lodge, only for an avalanche to strike...
