He's worked with some big names and on some big shows. Tumble is among them. I wonder if H cultivated a relationship with him from that?

I'm going to assume it will take seven working days and any sooner will be a nice bonus.*

*Though between the three of us I'll be secretly disappointed if I'm not listening to it by Saturday.

I listened to the album and well, it was so good that I died. Steps slayed me, I'm posting this from heaven.
It's bloody fantastic! I cant wait to hear what you think of it. Lee's vocals are bloody amazing! He's about 16 million times better than H! The only song I am not really feeling is Firefly.

Glitter and Gold a favourite along with Neon Blue and Happy. Story of a Heart is wonderful as I said earlier but the 7th heaven remix pimps it up just a bit more and makes it into a proper old school Steps number.

Everyone's vocals are so good but Faye and Lee are really shining for me. Lisa seems to get all the best verses!

I'm glad it was worth staying up for, Alexis. I'm feeling quite excited from reading your response as you know proper Steps when you hear them. No doubt I'll come back and revisit some of the comments about songs in depth after my album arrives and I've listened to it. I'm going to try to go into it knowing as little as possible. Though that second clip in the video above, which I assume is Story Of A Heart, sounds excellent too.

H was in my dream last night. I think you might have been there too, Alexis. Actually, I had all kinds of weird dreams. Like Valerie Landsburg circa Fame getting wrapped up in a load of Eighties SFX and turning into a Maleficent-type Disney villainess with a scary voice. My series of dreams were all tenuously linked by me watching them on a Saturday morning TV show. That's where you fit in, Alexis. There were a couple of people watching with me and I think you were one of them.

The dream got a little disturbing, so I'll put in in a spoiler for the faint of heart or anyone who's eating.
In the dream, H was on this Saturday morning show as a guest-host. But when he showed up he looked awful. He was unshaven, drawn and was all red under his eyes (he had dark hair too). He said something about not having had his makeup done, but he was really difficult to understand as he was mumbling and had a Scottish accent.

The co-host was none other than... John Barrowman. He was being appropriate and trying to run the script, but H kept diverting and mumbling incoherently. I realised H was drunk, and Barrowman realised the same shortly afterwards. He challenged H on this, and H said he was and didn't care. Then he started slurring swear words, leaned in and kissed the shocked Barrowman. A full-on big, sloppy, wet kiss. There were lots of "eeeew"s from those of us who were watching and I think that's the point we changed channels. And probably the point I woke up.

I was up to after 2am listening to the album last night and as I was off today I had a serious lie in. I came downstairs at almost 11 and there was a package for me. :) Yes! My signed copy of the album arrived on release day! :)

    I'm still waiting patiently.

Seriously though... I'm really happy for you, Alexis!!! :loony:

Did your copy arrive in good condition? It looks pretty perfect from your picture.

I do worry with this kind of thing where it's being handled. I've had three signed CDs posted to me before now (three different artists). Two arrived from Australia in perfect condition (one of them cleverly sent me a sealed CD and an additional, signed insert).

A third one arrived a little scratched but I didn't like to complain because it was from Martina McBride's website and I couldn't shake the image of her being run ragged putting them all into jiffy bags while trying to write her next album, prepare for her tour and cook her daughters' dinner.

I have no idea how Royal Mail works. I would have thought you'd have got your copy first since it didn't have to cross the Irish sea! It arrived in perfect condition just in a little jiffy bag. Though I haven't opened the CD yet. It's still sealed. I may leave it like that and buy another copy of the album in a few weeks to use as my standard physical copy. I already have the download on my computer.

I know.. I cant help myself. I am just so over the moon with how this entire campaign has been handled.
I hope your copy arrives very soon Mel! I see that the album has reached number 70 on US iTunes. I'm imagining @Jason73 doing his bit for promo there! That's pretty great I think that they could reach that! They are doing really, really well with this. I was wondering if this turns out to be a big success will a major label offer them more money to do a new album? That would be a dream come true seeing as this was self funded and on their own label and yet it's still a pretty solid pop album that the fans seem to be loving. And there is so much good will from the general public.

I love this even more than the Palladium performance.

Maybe they're heading west first. Which will be good news for Jason. :D

It's good to know it's arrived in great condition. And sealed too? I seriously wasn't expecting that. Now I'm thinking the same as you. I may keep the signed for best (as my Nan would have said) and get a second copy for everyday. I did get a second copy of LUTW, but it was a few months later when it was reduced to 50p in HMV.

I completely agree. What a contrast to five years ago.

Jason so needs to be their PR person stateside. With all the perks that come along with it. :D

That would be great. It feels like they're hurtling towards the same sort of acclaim that they had at the peak of their powers at the end of the last millennium. Maybe bigger in some ways, because there's now a whole legendary backstory that comes with them.

It's great. My favourite part was when H nearly knocked his mic stand over at 2:30. :tv2:

Faye looks soooooo good. And what a great energy.

Do we think this is totally live, or is it partly lipsynced? In both the live vids the guys' "in your arms" part sounds like it's the studio version, and I also wondered if they're singing over pre-recorded vocals in the chorus too. Not that I mind if that is the case. And if it's not and they're singing live while moving as they do I'm SERIOUSLY impressed!!

I would say it's a PA backing track. The studio vocals are there in the mix but lower. Then they sing over it. You can hear ad-lib backing vocals in the last chorus' that nobody is singing to. Most pop artists do that now. It beefs up the sound more.

EDIT - I only just recently discovered that Faye is doing the ad-libs on SOTD. It's not Claire.

It's a great compromise between the realness of live and the perfection of lip-synced.

I remember when I first saw them in concert (the Step One Tour) I was quite shocked to find that they lip-synced to their hits all the way through and felt a bit cheated. But then I got used to it and kind of missed the polished vocals when they did completely live songs. This way they get to keep everyone happy.

I'm going to save listening for a bit later. First, I'm going to enjoy looking at it in all its sealed glory. I might even sniff it à la Céline's Special Times. A new Steps album requires complete sensory overload.

The song I wasn't feeling, Firefly, is actually a grower. It's production is epic and soaring and it's verses are kind of melancholic in a Day Before You Came on Ecstasy kind of way. I could see it being great on tour.

Lee's vocals really are a revelation! He's so much better than H. The injustice of it all!
