Is anyone else put off by him when he first appears and comes on to Pam knowing she is a married woman and even worse he is an old friend of Bobbys. What a home wrecking bitch he is.

I dont mind Mark later on when he is actually with Pam tbh but when you watch those early episodes of him pursuing her it really makes you wanna hate him. They should have had him pursue her at first not knowing who she was.

    Anyway its very offputting.

I'm completely with you on this one CS. Nothing likable about Mark at all, just an overindulged playboy who was used to getting whatever or whomever he wanted.

I remember at the time not rooting for him to get with Pam, But then when they so get together he is just so nice. I do think he was introduced badly though.

Since when were Bobby and Mark old friends? I disliked Mark the first run-through of Dallas, but re-watching this show - and even this website - helped to alter my opinion of Mr. Moustache. He was respectful of Pam while married (he didn't force himself on her, or introduce himself to Bobby; he made sure that she was the one to make the first move in their relationship).

I also didn't like it when Mark came onto Pam when they first met he knew she was married to one of Miss Ellie's son, but that still didn't stop him.

I think we're led to believe they were old friends as in one episode Mark phones Southfork and Bobby answers saying he hasn't thought about Mark in a long time so Im assuming they were friends at some point maybe in College or something? they are about the same age

Mark making a play was disgusting, she was married he should have respected that It does not matter if you are attracted to the person once you know person is married move on. A person who does that is not respectable.

Pam was a beautiful woman, and she was no stranger to admiring second lookers of the opposite sex. When Bobby's friend, Guzzler tried to pick her up while being a guest of the Ewing's, Pam handled the situation exactly as she should. She was straight forward and to the point with him and he got the message and left. As a woman who has no respect for, nor patience for men/women who do not respect the sanctity of marriage, there are times when a man/woman can't help but be flattered by someone, if they are confused or unsettled at home for whatever reason and it is up to the married party to set the guidelines. Having said that, many married men/women will respond by sending mixed messages of outrage and downright indignation that someone would behave toward her in that manner, then in the next moment smile, flirt and coyly remind the admirer that he/she is married. That's what Pam did with Alex Ward and that other guy (who's name I don't recall). Even though Mark was wrong to pursue a married woman, she was not convincing enough to Mark to totally leave her alone. When he called her at home, she did tell Bobby that he was on the phone, however, she did not tell Bobby of her plan to meet Mark for breakfast the following morning. Pam sent conflicting signals to Mark and he was no dummy, he knew exactly what she was going to do and he was counting on her to do it. Every time Pam would remind Mark that she was a married woman, I got the impression she was trying to remind herself that she was married. Mark told Pam at that first meeting something to the effect, "if your marriage is strong, then I can't hurt you and Bobby". He basically threw the ball right back in her court. I think Mark gets a bad wrap for his attraction to her, yet he couldn't have gotten to first base if Pam had not allowed him. In my opinion the liability is on her.

A person who allows that kind of behavior to continue is not respectable either.

I personally have never liked him because of that. Not only was she married, but she made it pretty clear Bobby was the love of her life, so it's just incredibly selfish of him to pursue her. His awfulness reaches a new low when he tells Pam not to visit Ray when he is charged with murder to give him emotional support because he doesn't think she should continue to be "close" to the family. He's really quite disgusting to me.

Yes, he was wrong in pursuing Pam knowing she was married, but hey, she did enjoy the attention, this was attention Bobby should have been giving her, but instead his priority was winning Ewing Oil. She did tell him she was a married women many times, Sue Ellen saw the attraction in the restaurant when they were enjoying Lunch. I think she kept Mark at bay (sexually) but still entertained him on a level throughout her estrangement and subsequent divorce also stringing along Bobby - Bobby's romantic link was Ewing Oil, he entertained no women until after he was divorced - albeit Katherine made a play for him. Pam IMO kept Mark in the background if she did divorce Bobby she would have a back up man! She only went ahead and slept with Mark because Bobby was involved with Jenna Wade and she was seething with jealously ..... you made your mind up Pam, you divorced Bobby albeit Katherine planted the seed with letter in Bobby's mind - however why did you not reconcile with Bobby, he had no other women during the time they were split up, he was prepared to give up the ranch, ewing oil and move away from his family, but that was not enough; but hey Pam when Jenna appeared your jealously ego was pushed to the limit. For me, the heartbreak for Bobby and Pam was when Bobby went to pick up Christopher, and he struggled to congratulate Pam and Mark on their engagement, both Bobby and Pam's acting ability in this scene is just tops, Mark was stupid not to see heartbreak in each of their faces, instead he had the look that the cat had got the cream (smug look) that he had finally won Pam from Bobby, but unbeknown to him she was only marrying him out of pity, as she truly loved Bobby. But thick Mark, alarm bells should have rung in that scene. Brilliant acting by all three, one of Dallas's best acted and written scene.

    Who wrote that episode?

Funny how oblivious we fans are regarding the details of some storylines and characters...especially Mark Graison.

Mark was told by JR that she and Bobby had problems, he gently let Miss Ellie hire his lawyer to overturn Jock´s will and then he even attended Rebecca´s funeral when he probably didn´t even know her. All he did was trying to offer Pam some support when he thought she needed it. He wasn´t a male Katherine at all, not even a male April...Besides, if I had to stand Cliff and Afton with the hope of getting Pam into bed, I think I´d rather forget her...

Pam perhaps liked Mark's attention, but he was still kind of sleazy going after her even if she and Bobby weren't getting along well,

Really enjoyed the season when Bobby was with Jenna and Pam was with Mark. I think Mark as a character had a lot more potential in the show that dull Jenna and many pointless characters that followed.

Alex Ward tried to worm his way in during Season four too.........Pam had a little more self control there though!

People think of Mark's courting of Pam as horrible only because they "know" Bobby, and Bobby and Pam as a couple.

But Mark was very patient, respectful, and didn't sleep with Pam for nearly a year after her separation.

He was a prince. And he also treated Pam a damned sight better than Bobby did.
