I missed the last two episodes when it was on TV. I think there was a storyline featuring Joan Collins' character and Lucky Vanous.
Wasn't he a male top model at that time?

I liked this show, but Hyperion Bay was better!

The complete series is on YouTube, I came across it last month and watched some of it.

Lucky Vanous was in a very popular TV spot that made him known as "the Diet Coke hunk" for a while in the early 90s. On Pacific Palisades, his character Matt Dunning and Joan Collins's Christina Hobson had a couple of sexual encounters, but nothing more elaborate than that as he was involved with architect Jessica Mitchell (Jocelyn Seagrave). Mind you, he was a crooked contractor and mostly interested in using Jessica to steal information from Russo & Associates, the company she worked for. After Pacific Palisades, Lucky Vanous went on to star in a TV show called 18 Wheels of Justice.

I've never seen Hyperion Bay, it's one of the few short-lived 90s primetime soaps that completely flew over my head, but it's interesting that you mention it since Dylan Neal (the guy with his arms crossed in the picture you posted) replaced Joel Wyner as plastic surgeon Cory Robbins on Pacific Palisades midway through the series (Wyner appeared in the first 6 episodes and Neal in the last 7). Gotta love the irony of the plastic surgeon of all characters being the one they chose to recast. I've never read any explanation for the sudden recast, but after rewatching a couple episodes, I suspect it came down to them changing the direction for the character who at first was one of the villains and somehow turned into more of a hero after Neal took on the role.

Yes, I meant advertising, not a fashion model (but maybe he's done that too).
    :fantastic:

Literal laugh at how Fiona has a "flower arrangement" opening credit.

They REALLY Don't know what to do with her, do they?

Were these episodes really only 32 minutes, like the ones on YouTube?

Episode one regrets - the cast has no spark, no energy and no oomph, which is needed for this sort of show. Is tommie supposed to care?

    No, these are basics.

No, they're nowhere near that short, they should be in the regular 42-45 minutes range of most 90s hour-long episodes. The YT channel where I found them has some running much longer due to some commercials being left in.

OMG episode three is just too much - "trollop"!
This like a weird combo of 90210 + Melrose + A LOT OF CRACK

Oh my Joan! What a refresher to this boring cast. That Aussie girl is trying her best, but don't have the pedigree of La Collins!

And am I the only person who feels weird about them having an ormbunke on the top of the tv?

Just watering it feels like a safety hazard.

I think they were trying to do Knots Landing, Melrose-style. The Stanleys and the Lechowicks wrote for Knots Landing for years, after all. When Joanna, whose maiden name is Whittaker by the way, goes all "I'm just a farm girl at heart," you know they want you to think of her as the new Valene Ewing. And their version of Abby (your neighborhood predatory blonde of choice) happens to be a real estate agent named Laura.

Laura is such a weirdly written character - she's sort of supposed to the neighbourly SKANK - yet she's a bit invisible. You would hope she'd be a bit more like Carrie in Central Park West. Aggressive is the word, yet she's so passive. Even with Joan Collins as her mother.

The first few episodes had Charles pratt as story consultant and I noticed the final episode was written by Peter Dunne....that name sounds familiar.

Oh crap. This is why it's so schizo in the writing.

Of course Charles Pratt JR is involved. Of course. Of course.

At least Peter Dunne was involved with Melrose season seven which was a logical season so... but I'm watching episode five of Pacific Palisades and "illogical mess" is the word.

Joan is sadly just phoning it in. I sort if expect her to roll her eyes and be like "skank, you thought I would act?".

God. Is Rachel going to be a part of an unwanted teen plot nobody actually wanted?

And what does Fiona's character do? I swear - next time anyone ask me what I do I'll just answer "Random flower arrangement stuff!"

And ask me what? I'll just say: "IT'S VERY IMPORTANT - FLOWERS DON'T ARRANGE THEMSELVES!"

Wait - in episode nine, was there a Trump reference? It's at the start of the episode but so relevant.

I feel like me @Alexis and @Willie Oleson would be having a field day with this show. SO BAD IT'S GOOD.
