Victoria Principal has "no desire" to get back in front of the camera for the modern incarnation of "Dallas," says Patrick Duffy, who together with Principal formed one of TV's biggest super couples in the '80s.

Duffy resumes his role as the principled oil man Bobby Ewing on Bravo's sudsy reincarnation, which premieres Wednesday, along with original stars Larry Hagman returning as the scheming villain J.R. Ewing and Linda Gray as J.R.'s boozy wife.

But Principal, who played Bobby's dutiful wife Pam, is notably absent in the pilot episode. What we do get is a new generation of greedy and backstabbing Ewings — namely J.R.'s now-adult son John Ross who has a bitter feud brewing with Bobby's son Christopher.

Duffy said his former co-star hasn't acted in any form for more than 10 years and that she told him she's "very comfortable with that."

"She has no desire to get back in front of a camera because she's dealing with her empire, which is what she truly has," Duffy said recently from New York, referring to Principal's various business ventures, which include a lucrative line of beauty products.

"And that's what she wants to be associated with. She purposefully ... wanted to divorce herself from the Pam Ewing connection so that her entire industry would not be Victoria Principal/Pam Ewing products.... And that's just good business."

More people need to read this, with the fact that Victoria told him this herself highlighted.

I still think it means nothing.

As a side note whenever I see Victoria hawking her moisturiser on late night infomercials and I cant find the remote to shut her up I always see Pamela Ewing. Not Victoria.

And the key words there are SAYS PATRICK DUFFY. He's towing the TNT company line. Victoria has not publicly said that she won't make an appearance on Dallas.

One assumed this was her position, and that's reasonable.

But will she let Christopher have a framed photo on his dresser of his mama?

Duffy also said that they couldn't rule out an appearance, a cameo.

Well apparently she owns the rights her own image or what not. But I see a way around this. Just frame a pic of her during one of her skin care adds. For that is obviously a very different image indeed to the one she owns the rights too. Its a very different face.

Doesn't make that much sense considering her being Pam Ewing is really what built the 'cosmetic' empire. Being Pam again could bring her new business, but in a way, she could be right, she would not be able to control really what she looks like in scenes, and people might be less inclined to buy her products if they did not want to look like her anymore.

Clumsily said maybe in an attempt to not draw the wrath of the Pam fans here
She was at the time my favorite Dallas hottie and I thought the most beautiful but I also think she has ruined her appearance and I was saddened when I saw how she looks now

As much as I'd like to see her back, I still don't think it will happen.

I have little to no expectation of VP returning. Since leaving, she has (largely) distanced herself from the show. She also hasn't acted in a decade. I know roles aren't plentiful for actresses in their 60s, but I tend to think she have worked if she wanted. The only way I could possibly imagine her return is if the new show turns out to be very successful. Then maybe -- just maybe -- she might come back for a short arc. Her return would certainly generate publicity, which in turn would generate publicity for her cosmetics (or whatever it is that she sells.)

I am a Pam fan, a big one! I'd go as far as saying she was my favourite part of Dallas for a long time! I'm not so big a Victoria fan. What with her hot and cold attitude towards the show since she left.

Even if they did read it they'd still try to rationalize their obsession...

Ok, she just called me and said, she won't. Never ever. Because HD resolution would ruin her business. End of topic.

I wish Victoria herself would just release a public statement saying that she's not interested. Damn.

Well, Victoria declined the invitation to take part in the Entertaiment Weekly interviews with the cast and crew about the old and new Dallas (and I think she declined TV Guide's story, too), where she could have said one way or the other. She did state on Ultimate Dallas some time back, when asked about appearing in a continuation during an interview:

"Sidney in NY asks - It is now 20 years since you left Dallas. Would you ever consider being in a reunion movie. Would you be in it under any capacity?

Victoria Principal – No I would not. I think some things are better left alone. There is a time and place to consider a reunion movie but twenty years later it feels pathetic. "

So, if she is enthused about the chances of coming back, she's definitely not showing her intentions to anybody.
