They really shouldn't give Sonny such ridiculous dialogue as "He needs to pay!" because it makes him look like an even bigger hypocrite than he already is. And poor Michael is running around PC trying to salvage everyone's relationship...someone's gotta let him know that he lives in a soap opera before he burns himself out.

Everyone keeps lovingly referring to Michael as "a fixer," as in Michael feels obligated to repair all the damage that his relatives cause. I think if Carly and Sonny had gotten fixed years ago, we'd all be better off.

Speaking of.....you don't think they would have the nerve to make Carly pregnant, do you?:eek:

I have to admit I have lost interest in watching General Hospital due to the storylines which I find boring and I never thought I would say that after being a fan since Luke & Laura's wedding.

It used to be 'appointment viewing' for me from 2012 until about a month after Ron Carlivati was fired. Now I can live just fine with reading online synopses and watching one episode (Thursdays) per week. I could watch day-old episodes onDemand anytime I want, but frankly I'm not that into it.
It's not that Ron's work was spectacular or anything; it's just the current writers seem to be "striving to be mediocre". It's not great; it's not terrible. It's just...meh. So I watch if I'm working from home, but I don't DVR it or otherwise try to catch up on what I miss.

This is quite the situation in my life, since I have always had at least one 'pet' soap that I would watch faithfully (some would say obsessively) since roughly 1980 (at the tender age of ten years old): Guiding Light (1980 to roughly 1985); As the World Turns (1984-6); Another World (1986-1999); ATWT again (1999 to 2008); One Life to Live (2008-2012); then GH (after OLTL was cancelled). For the first time in practically ever, I don't have a daily soap habit.

    Yes.

Well, I would say no, but with these writers anything is possible. Any time I think a woman might be a little long in the tooth to have another child, I remember Cory and Alexandra Hutchins, Reva Shayne's post-menopausal pregnancy, and Sally Spectra having a child when Darlene Conley was past fifty. But since they wouldn't allow Morgan to give Carly a grandchild via Avery, they might be hoping to artificially keep her young.

I have developed a similar problem to both of you...I watch Y&R and GH, but recently I've been watching both with a serious lack of interest. Like, "Pick up a magazine and read during the episodes" levels of boredom. :(

It's spooky....this is from SOD in 1992, yet other than the dress, you'd think this photo of JE was taken last week.

The last time Maxie was mentioned, she was spending a couple of months in Portland...but yesterday Nathan referred to her as living and working there. Is this the show's not-so-subtle way of letting us now she's gone for good?

A few weeks ago he said she'd gotten a job there, talking to some other character (Jordan, I think) about how they would be trying to make a long-distance marriage work. It was disappointing to hear, since they were dropping major anvils. The longer she is gone, the more "out of sight, out of mind" she becomes, which not only dooms her character but Nathan's, and Mac and Felicia too, since the few times we get to see them are entirely because of her. It's a lousy situation; I wish they had simply switched into another recast of Maxie, since the two other recasts were fairly well-received. If Maxie is not 'missed' during her time away, they may decide to leave her there, and unless they plan to break up N&M to allow Nathan to move on to another romance/story, they may wait until Paevey's contract is up and write him out by having him move to Portland to be with Maxie. Heck, that might be what they're doing right now, what with Nathan's spotty appearances.

As unlikely as it may be that Maxie would get a job working in the fashion industry in Portland, you have to admit it's about as likely as working for a fashion magazine published in obscure Port Charles, NY.

I do miss Maxie's clueless sort of wisdom, but I could see how a casual viewer wouldn't notice her absence. I just hope they don't pair Nathan will Nelle, unless they plan to have one of them die in a mob war. :re:

Another of my "pet plots" got blown out of the water today. ;) With the walls closing in on Alex/Fake Anna, I thought the logical progression of the plotline would be for Nina, Valentin, and a few other characters to threaten "Anna" for her shenanigans...then discover "Anna" dead at home. Everyone would freak out and mourn their good friend Anna's death (murder), leaving the suspects lurking around looking guilty. Then, after a lot of speculation and hand-wringing...real Anna would turn up and everyone would be thrown for a loop. She would be tasked with solving the murder....ultimately figuring out that Alex had found that darn Chimera thing she'd been searching for...and exposure to it killed her, since it's a lethal poison. But of course all that got plowed under today, when
Emma and tremendously pregnant Robin ran into Alex-pretending-to-be-Anna at the airport...followed by Real Anna, who got off the plane from London to everyone's shock.

Well, I still hold onto my other "pet plot" which involves that Martina chick turning up in Port Charles in a few months carrying yet another Sonny spawn. I mean, why else would they have Sonny hop in the sack with some day player?

The sign that I am not interested in GH anymore is no longer eager to catch up on episodes missed and do not watch live when I am home.

Remember how we wondered if Brad had disappeared when he didn't appear for a stretch? Now I really wish he would disappear, on a permanent basis.

It wouldn't be his spawn, though--it would be his grand-spawn. Martina would be yet another surrogate for Helena's dead son, a la Daphne of Cassadine Island and Valentin. :p

It is good that they wrote Robin as pregnant into the plot, because unlike with Lulu I don't think they could hide that with black clothing.

This whole Brad vs. Finn smells like Brad's exit story, and by extension Lucas's, as well.

The Nurses' Ball really seems to be an afterthought, especially compared to the "red carpet festivities". At least Sam is dressed in something other than black.

Sam wore something not-black??? Oh, now I will have to watch. It's historic.

Honestly, I was underwhelmed by the entire thing. Aside from the performances of Ned, Dillon, and Valentin (!) the ball was pretty slim on talent this year. And don't even get me started on Sonny and Carly's Nick and Nora Charles/HART TO HART schtick. Annoying and/or threatening the truth about Morgan's pills out of everyone who knows information was the laziest writing since Heather filled in the blanks of Paul's killing spree. :re:
