The internet is awash with rumours that TNT are on the verge of cancelling their flagship show of last year Dallas. If rumours are to be belivedit is only a matter of when not if when it comes to TNT confirming cancellation.
True or not, it is understandable why us fans are concerned about the future of our beloved Dallas. Lets look at the facts, TNT moved Dallas from its summer slot where it achieved excellent ratings to an experimental winter slot which has in all truth has not worked. There has been a lot of lip service from the actors stating that the ratings are in line with expectations but with 10 episodes of this season gone, still no confirmation of a renewal, this does not bode well. It could mean that TNT are still undecided & are waiting it out, more realistically a decision has already been made but no announcement will be made until towards the end of the season. Again, understandable as TNT do not want to loose any more viewers.

Another factor in TNT's decsion may be the fact that the show is not performing well internationally, here in the UK, Dallas has always been held with deep affection. The ratings on Channel 5 were considered to be so poor that the show was shifted to a graveyard slot of 11 pm ( do not agreee with that decision), even JR'S Masterpiece only managed 384000.00 viewers. Looking at this from TNT's viewpoint, this may mean that the show may have problems in being syndicated if a season 3 was ordered.

Lets hope that TNT does stick with Dallas, as I have said in previous posts there are enough good things in the current show but the powers that be must really take a good hard look at their creative team and direction of the show if a 3rd season is ordered.

Is it time to start petitioning for renewal with a creative team change?I would definitely like a 3rd season with a different creative team who thoroughly understand and enjoy the original Dallas.

I too would like a new season with a new creative team. If they have to stick with Cydre, though, they should cancel it. She has damaged the show in ways even I did not expect. The Miss Ellie letter/Cliff Barnes was an insult to the show.

I sincerely hope you are correct. The new series is flawed but...I am thrilled with Linda Gray's performances and Josh Henderson is exquisite. The casting director, in his case, was dead-on! Josh can carry this series.

A third season with a new creative team is the solution--the actors, the viewership, the sponsors, and TNT deserve this!

I'm not disagreeing with you but it's not all about the acting, even though if we are going by acting they are the only two who stand out and considering this is a ensemble show that isn't good at all. The writing and Directing is horrible this season and even last season was bad. If season three happens tnt needs to clean house. start from the new or Dallas for sure won't make it past the first half of season three.

I think people are jumping to conclusions just because TNT announced their summer schedule today and "Dallas" was not on it. It was never going to be on the summer schedule for 2013. TNT likely hasn't dealt with the renewal announcements for their winter shows yet because they have been focusing on the media attention that they need to push out the coming summer lineup. Once that campaign gets rolling then they will turn around and deal with the other shows from this winter.

TNT would be foolish NOT to renew Dallas. The show is only now hitting its stride. Some of the actors/actresses are absolutely fantastic and the writers can tailor the shows to their strengths now they know which way the wind blows.

With a little work, Dallas can be TNTs best show.

I have thought the ratings are good enough for a season 3, even though HBO has shows that beat it by a few million viewers.

An article in the Dallas paper today also wondering if this was it for the show. Mentioned the highest rated show of the season was JR's funeral, and that was roughly half the audience they had for season 1's premiere.

JR won. No need to bring it back. We can say Cliff stayed in jail as did Harris. The Ewings went on to run EE and Barnes Global. Drew most likely came home and Bobby granted Elana's family shares in the business/land. We know it would come to that. Cliff won't be getting out of jail, he's in there for a long time. It would be stupid JR's plan fails and he gets out. Nobody will know it was Bum who killed JR except Bobby Chris and John Ross.

Last season Dallas was 8/10...this season it was 9/10 in my opinion.

BOTH finales were failures. But this finale works as a good series finale. Last season the cliffhanger sucked...there wasn't one. Well, there wasn't one this season either, but the surprising death of Roy!

The photo of JR at EE was the true end. But anything after that was just a glimpse of "It's Dallas...there will be more fights to face in the future, there will be affair..."

    However, we can all assume:

Cliff does not get out of jail and the feud is OVER=JR's masterpiec
Harris does not get out of jail=JR's/Emma's masterpiece
Elena shows that deed to Bobby/Chris/John Ross and they are nicer than JR and give her family $$/Land
Chris eventually marries Elena because he still loves her
Drew comes back when he hears the news of Roy getting killed. He and Emma get back together
    Emma takes over Ryland enterprises

This will all be assumed if the series is canceled. It ended in a good way, but we did NOT need those scenes after JRs photo hanging. AWFUL!

If it gets cancelled a TV movie can tie things up, or just asume the above. I love Dallas, and I love Cidre's work. It would be STUPID JR died and then Cliff/Harris get out of jail. let them rot there. THE END.

    Cancel

Hagman is gone, and the rest of the actors are horrible and boring.

Hagman, Duffy, and Grey all admitted on all of the interview shows they needed Hagman for the reboot.

TNT is delusional if they think people are going to tune in to see Jesse Metcalfe's horrible acting.

I have not seen one thing that points towards cancellation. Every article and blog I have read gives Dallas a positive chance.

Yet we hear nothing - which means there is consideration, talk, discussions. CC is in the hot seat.

Well if cancellation is the only way to get rid of Cidre and her horrifying running of the show then I want cancellation! If however Dallas continues without Creature Cidre then bring it on and I will be happily be waiting for a third season!
