I'd like to wish a Happy 39th Birthday to the greatest show ever created - Dallas.

On the 2nd April 1978, we were hit by something that I'm sure none of us ever thought would make such a big impact and have us talking so many years later.

Through Dallas I have not only met the woman who has been my hero since childhood - the divine Miss Linda Gray, but I've met a lot of other cast members too and met people who have become really good friends. I'm sure when David Jacobs sat down with his pen and paper all those years ago that he didn't realise what he was creating and how it would reach so many people.

Dallas has brought so much to me both on a personal level and from a point of enjoyment. I have never and will never care about or cherish a programme so much. From early childhood, it's just always been there and I know it will be there with me for many many years to come.

Here's to the best tv show ever made and the greatest cast ever assembled!

    Love you Dallas!!!

    Happy Birthday Dallas! :D

    Who knew back then?

Certainly not I, since I wasn't even born until almost two years later. :)
My parents loved watching the show though, which was first broadcast over here in 1981.
So my first memory of watching anything on TV was the cows in the opening credits of Dallas.
I wasn't allowed to watch the show when I was a young child though. I remember my parents
telling me that the show was not for kids and that I should be in bed, when I tried to sit down
and watch it with them. They refused to read me the subtitles too and since I didn't know
any English I didn't understand what they were saying on the TV and hence soon went to sleep. :lolo:

So well I didn't begin to follow the show until I was 11 years old and only watched the final four season of the original run over here,
which was being broadcast in a period of 2 ½ years as they didn't do the summer break in 1992. I guess Swedish TV wanted to get rid of the show
once it was off the air in the USA. Anyway I have been a fan since about then and Dallas still means more to me than any other TV show
    I have ever watched. :tv:

So here's to Dallas, it's wonderful cast and the show's place in TV history! :10::10::10::10:

    Happy Birthday to ORIGINAL Dallas
I never thought as a wee schoolgirl doing my maths homework on a tues evening in UK in 1978, that i show i watched as i did my homework would dominate my life.
I guess the mini series didnt really do it for me, but by s1 and Bypass I was hooked
Did i think it would still dominate my life 39 years later - No!!
Did i think i would still be collecting Dallas 37 years later - No
Did i think i would spend a fortune on Dallas 37 years later - NO!!
Did i think i would get on the Dallas set in 1983 and meet the cast and kiss Pat D! - No
did i think i would go horse riding with Steve K - no!
Did i think i would strike up a friendship with Howard Keel and his wife and get to stay with Judy keel for a week in LA - NO
Did i think i would have lunch wth BBGs grandaughter in NY and own BBGs scrap books of her career - NO!

As Sarah says i have been fortunate to meet cast and forum friends - past and present
I regret the travesty that was TNT Dallas with an incompetent producer in charge, dreadful plots, taking huge liberties with the original stories, and i wish it had never been made as people i loved began to annoy me! dallas was an 80s show and it belongs there, in the 80s
And I regret that so many forum friends bailed out following it

To Luke, tessie, mad monk, surfer girl, Lhfan72, anakin Ewing et all, thanks - and all thanks to Dallas

thank you David jacobs for creating an iconic TV show and for great casting and scripts for a long time. Dallas did lose its way the end and it wasnt a show i liked so much once all the main cast left - the Dallas 7 ensemble cast were the show plus Ray, Donna, Ken, Clayton. Larry and Patrick disnt make Dallas, they all did - but thanks to video and now DVD they live on in our hearts and memories. I still regret that i never met my 2 favs, Victoria and more importantly Barbara - so near and yet so far in 1983, VP had a day off and BBG was ill after heart attack
    Cest la vie!
but Dallas s1-6 original was great and as Miss Ellie says, "I have my memories and my memories are forever"

    Happy 39th Birthday Dallas
    love BF x

I´m working on a series of videos to celebrate the anniversary of our favorite show (as I do every year, lol). The first one is dedicated to the places of the city of Dallas and surroundings that became so familiar after awhile. I hope you like it! And happy anniversary to "Dallas"!!

PS: By the way, may I suggest to the mods to start a thread for the fan-made videos like the one we had on the "gone" forum? :cool1;)

I know that I'll never forget the show.

I'll let you into a little secret, the show is always with me as I constantly hear the shows theme music playing in my mind.

I must have a bad attack of Acute Dallas Syndrome or ADS for short.

There is no cure but taking a hot shower, turning round & saying "Good Morning" does help. ;) :)

Here is another of my Dallas videos celebrating its 39th anniversary. If the previous one was devoted to the places appeared in the show, this one is focused on the dialogues that made the series what it is today. I hope you like it:

PS: I will soon upload this video also dubbed into Spanish and Catalan.

Thanks a lot to Ms. Southworth and Mr. Channing for your kind words and interest...

If you (or somebody else) are interested in re-watching it, you might try following the next link (very likely, for a "limited time", too):
