Its hard to believe it was 37 years ago tonight that the late, great Larry Hagman was shot on UK TV. It was a Bank holiday Monday and it was probably the most exciting and thrilling time to be a Dallas fan. Dallas was red hot, it was in the press, on the TV, and in the media. You couldnt get away from it, with Bookies taking bets on Who shot the biggest, baddest guy on TV.

Dallas captured the imagination, Terry Wogan helped along the way, and the cast were in the papers and magazines on a daily basis

It was such fun and so exciting and Im so glad i lived thro it and im so glad that it was 1980, no internet, no twitter or FB as they would never be able to keep a secret that it was Kristin now in todays world.

One of the greatest storylines on "Dallas" ever, IMO! :gotcha: The streets were quite empty back in those days when "Dallas" was on! :tv: Definitely the glory years of "Dallas"! :bowing

I don't even remember. It's had to have been over a decade though.
So long ago but I remember like it was yesterday.

I don't think any of the shows of today have ever come close to the appeal that Dallas had.

Dallas was a huge global phenomenon after JR got shot.

What a great show it was and what a very powerful cliffhanger that season had.

Larry Hagman stole the show on Dallas & what a great legacy all the stars of Dallas have given us.

    I love Dallas. :love2:

After that, it seemed every nighttime soap (even some sitcoms) had to have a season-ending hook.

Agreed. The world was transfixed on JR, the Ewing family, Dallas and more importantly, who did it? 38 years later and it is often referenced today, such was the influence of our favourite TV Show.

On a side note I've been watching Dallas again. From the moment we are aware the great Jock Ewing (Jim Davis) will not be returning to his beloved family the series does not let up in drama. Episode after episode is so well crafted. A huge shout out to the writers.
