The list was compiled in 1999, containing the names AFI saw as of the top 25 male and 25 female greatest screen legends whose screen debut occurred in or before 1950.

John Wayne at frikkin #13??? That's got to be a political thing... No, I'm not some huge Duke fan, and, sure, he was a right-winger --- but given the sheer magnitude of his stardom and box office (he only made one film that wasn't a hit) he should have been listed at #1 or #2 or at the very lowest #3... But #13??

That has to be blatant leftist bias going into this list. And I'm a leftist.

Looking at the list, I think all of the actors who are listed above John Wayne deserve to be there, in fact I also would have placed Buster Keaton and Gene Kelly above him too.

Of the 12 actors listed above John Wayne, who do you think should be ranked lower than him?

I love Casablanca - mainly for Ingrid, and Claude rains but i would never put Mr Bogart at no 1 - as im not a fan of too many of his other films, its like he plays one role, over and over

and dont hate me for it, but i cant get the appeal of Audrey Hepburn, Id walk over hot coals before you could make me re watch any film she is in! Glad Bette and Ingrid in top 4

Fred Astair at No5???? And I love musicals.

Wayne or Peck should be there instead.

As for females, put Marlena out of top 10, Stanwyck in and move Crawford up a bit.
