Cliff, after bombing Christopher's methane rig, injuring several people including his own daughter who lost her unborn twins as a result and after ordering the killing of Roy Vickers, goes to prison. Technically he's sent to prison for killing JR (which Cliff didn't do).

It's a unique situation. Cliff gets what he deserves for the crimes he was responsible for, but the technical reason for his prison term is for a crime he didn't commit.

Can you name either a movie or another TV show where a man gets the punishment he deserves, but actually ends up getting that punishment because of being convicted of something he didn't do?

All I can think of at the moment is the movie Crimes abd Misdemeanors. A major character commits a murder abs gets away with it, when a person is arrested and charged with the crime. The actual murderer can live with this, because the convicted person already has killed orher people, so this assuages ant guilty feelings. May not be the best example, but a great movie.

It's one of my favorite movies. I've seen it a few times, and there are several layers to it. Best scene, imho, the seder.

Regarding your original question, C and M is not the best example because the guy who goes to jail for the murder is never actually in the movie.

I felt like it was saying a man as rich as Cliff couldn’t be got at here, so JR got at him in Mexico.

Not for something he didn't do, but... Simpson got the severest punishment for the robbery he did commit, and most legal experts agree it was to punish him for the murders he did get away with.
