They've been quite creative when it comes to the BGT semi-finals with some (if not all) outrageous stories, how would you rank them?

2010 - The Tony Gordon hostage drama

    2010.jpg

Eight years ago, Tony Gordon's reign of terror reached an explosive climax as he held Carla and Hayley hostage in Underworld. Due to tragic real life events in Cumbria, Corrie respectfully pulled the episodes half way through the week, rescheduling them for the following.

Once the action resumed, viewers were left on the edge of their seats as deranged Tony proceeded to set the factory on fire with him and Carla inside. She managed to break free and escape the burning building, while Tony stayed put, deciding that he preferred to burn alive rather than live without her. Carla don't half know how to pick 'em.

2011 - John Stape jumps from the hospital roof

Corrie sure love using their hospital set this time of year. In 2011, teacher-turned-assassin John Stape leapt 30 foot off the roof of Weatherfield General after getting cornered by the cops. It was a dramatic climax to a plot that had been playing out for months, but miraculously John survived the fall, and somehow managed to scrape himself up off the ground to leg it from the law again.

John's great escape wasn't the only OMG moment – back on the Street, bonkers Becky McDonald morphed into MC Hammer, and smashed up the Barlows' living room with a sledgehammer after wrongly assuming Tracy had been behind Social Services taking little Max into care. No-one did a violent rampage quite like our Becs.

    2012 - Terry attacks Tina

    2012.JPG

That time when Terry Duckworth put Tina McIntyre in a coma. For those of you who've forgotten this less-than-thrilling saga from six years ago, cash-strapped Tel cooked up a plan to torch a lap-dancing club in order to claim a hefty insurance cheque, but then Tina cottoned onto his scheme.

The ballsy barmaid confronted her boyfriend's bad dad, a tussle ensued, and Tina ended up in hospital nursing some serious injuries after whacking her head during their altercation. Tina might have pulled through to fight another day, but we're sure Simon Cowell and co would have hit their red buzzers for this stupid storyline.

2013 - Tina gives birth to Jake

    2013.jpg

Tina was back in Weatherfield General – this time giving birth to Izzy and Gary's son Jake. T had agreed to be a surrogate for the couple, but her decision had led to a messy split with boyfriend Tommy, and then dad-to-be Gary making an ill-advised move on her.

After dobbing Gary into Izzy, Tina's waters broke two months early. Despite a tricky birth (Michelle Keegan pulled off a pretty convincing labour scene), little Jake arrived safely into the world, and Tina and Tommy ended up reconciling.

Elsewhere, there was a big hoo-ha at Underworld when Carla realised brother Rob and accomplice Tracy had robbed £200k's worth of silk. But maybe best just to pretend all that nonsense didn't happen.

    2014 - Rob murders Tina

    2014.jpg

The epic 'Who Kills Tina?' storyline of 2014, for living up to every bit of its hype. Millions of eager fans had been waiting over a year to discover how Michelle Keegan would bow out of the soap, and her dramatic exit did not disappoint. Played out over the week, Tina was first pushed off a balcony by Carla's brother Rob, who then proceeded to bludgeon her with an iron bar when she threatened to call the old bill on his sorry ass.

The McIntyre lass succumbed to her injuries in her favourite place to spend the BGTsemi finals – in Weatherfield General. If that excitement wasn't enough, Anna Windass also faced the wrath of a very angry Owen when she admitted that she'd been blackmailed into bed by Phelan.

2015 - The fire at Victoria Court

    2015.jpg

Nothing heats BGT semis week up quite like a raging inferno. The Corrie writers decided 2015 would be the year they turned Tracy B into a twisted fire starter. The vengeful minx broke into Carla's luxury pad in Victoria Court intent on killing her rival, but was forced to flee the scene before she could do her worst. She left behind a lit candle, which caught onto a lampshade, sending the place up in flames.

The blaze nearly claimed the lives of Carla, and Tracy's own daughter Amy, but they were rescued by the fire brigade in the nick of time. Unfortunately heroic neighbour Kal Nazir wasn't so lucky. Better to bow out of Soapland with a bang than sneak out the back door though, right? PS. Tracy never got done for manslaughter, in case you're wondering.

2016 - Carla's departure and the discovery of Callum's corpse

    2016.png

This whopper of a week in 2016 gave us a disaster of a wedding day, the discovery of a dead body, and an emotional exit of a beloved character. Nick and Carla's dreams of a happy ever after were shattered when the bride 'fessed up to sleeping with Robert behind her fiancé's back. Nick still went ahead with the whole 'I do' part, only to ditch his new missus minutes after the ceremony.

The trauma of her wrecked wedding sent Carla over the edge and she crashed her car into Gail's granny annex, unearthing Callum's buried corpse in the process. The four days of gripping drams finished with queen Carla departing Weatherfield for a fresh start in Devon. Luckily we only had to mourn her loss for 18 months before she returned home.

    2017 - Bethany's ordeal

    2017.jpg

last year's week of jaw-dropping eps, which focused on not one, not two, but three big plots. The burning question over who pushed Ken down the stairs was finally answered when Mr B realised it was his own son Daniel who had tried to do away with him.

As a war broke out chez Barlow, Bethany's horrendous ordeal at the hands of nasty Nathan took its darkest turn when he arranged for his friends to gang rape the helpless teen.

And it was over and out for mummy's boy Nick Tilsley, as he finished his relationship with Leanne and turned his back on Weatherfield, leaving Gail devo. Don't worry love, he's coming back very soon.

3 focused on Carla, 3 focused on Tina - they sure like the damsels in distress scenarios

And here was me being pissed at Emmerdale for seemingly rehashing the Cameron storyline with Lachlan, it's only when you see that list that you realise that Corrie is the one who absolutely loves doing the whole resident killer plotline - again and again.

    Totally !

That and how they love to heap on the drama for certain brunettes, Tina, Carla & Michelle. I guess the silver lining is that they don't do this with Sinead, Maria & Fiz.
