People think Coronation Street is only really dramatic in recent years... But this montage of the first 50 years proves that it was always arguments, fights, disasters, love and friendship, heartache, births, deaths, marriages that didn't go smoothly, and, of course, cobbles. :D

That will teach you to pause before looking in the thread and asking yourself "is there an episode I haven't seen that could be the talk of the latest post" :laughs:

I ask myself that and then think "sod it" and proceed to check it out :Clol:

That was a very long 6 months in the deepest darkest jungles of Peru!! It turned into 2 years

My guess is that Emily will "die" off camera. I would be surprised if Eileen Derbyshire returns to the show now that it has 100 episodes per week or just seems that way but happy if im wrong. Corrie needs links to the past and she was one of them.

Obviously, I hope they don't kill her off, but at the same time, I would like to see some news on her whereabouts. So if they can't bring Eileen Derbyshire back, I'm grateful they are keeping her character alive.

She's 86, so I can understand why she might never return.

Did anyone spot Roy's stunt double when he went crashing into the Platt's garden?

I guess it gives closure to the character and it will stop all this "will she, won't she" talk. Maybe her death becomes part of a new story for Norris where she leaves half to him and the other half to someone like Spider, or maybe Curly and then bring that character back.

However they decide to go with this, I hope that they can manage to get the actress to make a cameo in the coming months, even if it's just a few scenes with Ken, Norris or Rita.

Hahaha I didn't spot the stunt double, brilliant, will have to watch it back.

I love Brian and Roy together. I think they're hilarious. Still not buying Michelle and Steve's overly friendly routine, or the fact that Steve seems to have moved on from Michelle so easily.

I'm enjoying Phelan - and the whole spooky build up with the wee houses that Andy made. Although Luke is turning a bit Sherlock Holmes about the whole thing. Sophie really doesn't have much to do these days - I'm sure the actress is very bored.

Corrie was fab tonight, I never expected Phelan to kill Luke but it happened and I loved it.

It's a shame that Luke has been in the soap for four years and only in the last six months has he become interesting. I'm assuming his death is what brings Steph back to the cobbles.

I wonder if Luke's death will first be blamed on the racist brothers...

I thought the press all landing in the street was very unrealistic. One or two reporters maybe.

Normally, I would agree, but I think this being about a racial attack/murder, it will likely breed more reporters and definitely more news reports, say against something like Kylie getting stabbed in the street.

I think it was OTT. But I'm enjoying the storyline - didn't think Alyah was as upset as she should have been however. Can't wait to see what happens when Phelan is found out.

There's definitely plenty of that and I thought it was a bit much, but just put it down to the racial element of the story.

I'm super-excited about Phelan getting caught, but what I'm really, truly looking forward to is all those who doubted Anna, including Kev, but more Eileen.

I hate Eileen. I'm glad she got smacked with a spanner.

I've always loved Eileen, especially in the cab office or when she's getting drunk with Liz, but her loyalty to Phelan has had me reaching for that spanner you speak of.

It's her nastiness and judgemental attitude to wee Gail and others that puts me right off. I can't wait till she gets the smile wiped off her face, preferably with a spanner.
