I'm pretty sure Pam was helping Jimmy land Lucy. She gave him the thumbs up for "acting like a hayseed and all" saying, "Lucy does not respond to 'cool'", cool presumably being the Roger Hurley type. She knew Lucy would be more intrigued if she had to work a little harder to get Jimmy, and so it proved.

Pam in the Barnes Wentworth days was even worse. Did she even do anything? She had a big office by Cliff’s and it seemed she’d just pop in there occasionally maybe once a week.

Wrong again, they were close to the gunfire but they were not in it. The men from Southfork were shooting at the kidnappers, not Cliff (although they only cared about Bobby's safety) and the kidnappers (except for the one who was shot) were shooting back at the Southfork men hiding in the fields.
There was danger, to which Cliff failed to react - hence Bobby's reaction, but there was no gunfire at that particular part of the road.

I think we've covered all technical details now.

They can't show her or anyone in the show in the office a lot of the time because there wouldn't be any entertainment value in it. They only show them in the office when there is something they have going on that's fun to watch, like JR's office meeting with Wally Hampton. Wally was hilarious in that meeting, but that's just a tiny fraction of what JR's whole day would be like. Instead of wasting TV time showing JR do paperwork, they get across the idea that he works a lot of hours by having him leave for work early and get home from work late. He didn't even like to take vacations.

Pam's function at Barnes Wentworth was to financially prop up his company by loaning him money for deals she approved. That's not a job that's paid on an hourly basis. If a deal came up that Cliff wanted her to loan him money for, she'd look at the information and either OK it or not.

To me, something that didn't make sense isn't something they don't show. It's something they do show that has no rationality to it.

I can't believe that anyone would find those situation to be similar. April was his wife. You're comparing a man risking his life to save his wife to a man risking his life to save a man who wants to see his family down and out? For April, Bobby would have shielded her with his body and taken a bullet for her. He's certainly not gonna do that for Cliff, so what is it that Bob could do for Cliff that Cliff couldn't do for himself?

Bobby was a true hero for most of the seasons, only in the final ones and in the new TNT version he tends to be a coward, sometimes grudging ...

I don't necessarily think that he is cowardly in the TNT series, but he does seems to just moan a fair bit.

The Bobby that caved into Elena's extortion attempt was a shell of the Bobby that walked right into the McKay's house and whipped Tommy McKay right in front of his sister.

Or dressed up as "The Milk Tray Man" during the range war and tied up all of McKay's hired thugs.

He's presumably referring to the expression "You can't go home again" from the title of the Thomas Wolfe novel.

Some scenes that didn't make sense to me were the ones where Katherine made blatantly hostile comments to Cliff and Afton, and Pam never seemed to notice. She was completely oblivious to Katherine. Yes, Katherine was her sister, but she really didn't know her having only met her a couple of years before.

Pam loved Cliff despite some deplorable actions and was quite affectionate even with Jock Ewing, Digger Barnes' nemesis. She loved the concept of family and Katherine was, after all, her stepsister ... unfortunately !

Pam was equally oblivious to the kind of man Cliff had become. Pam's idea of what kind of man Cliff was just didn't match with reality.

Yes, she couldn't even see that when Digger was on his death bed, Cliff was far more concerned in framing Jock than he was in the welfare of his own father.
