I have no idea how to rank them because I like these artists for various reasons.

    1. Amanda Lear (obviously not because she's the best vocalist, but she had a major influence on my...well, what exactly?)
    2. Grace Slick
    3. Françoise Hardy
    4. Nancy Sinatra
    5. Grace Jones
    6. Dusty Springfield
    7. Annie Lennox
    8. Debbie Harry
    9. Carly Simon
    10. Candi Staton
    11. Toni Willé (lead singer of Pussycat)
    12. Maureen McGovern (I find her voice so quintessential "American")
    13. Mylène Farmer
    14. Kate Bush
    15. Alison Moyet

I've typed my list really fast so I wouldn't start to overthink this.

So I'm guessing we're doing groups and male artists some other time?

This was hard and looking through my record collection I realize that I listen to music by more than 15 artists a lot.

But oh well let's see my most favorite female singers would be:

    1. Carola.
She's my idol and I've been to several of her concerts. The first one was a gospel one in 1994 and the last one to date was a pop one in 2016. She's a Swedish singer that is most known abroad for winning Eurovision Song Contest 1991. I've been a fan since I was a child and she is always nice to her fans whenever you meet her at a record signing, after concert or such.

    2. Celine Dion
Such a powerful voice that's even better in concert, seems to have a really nice personality and yes someone I admire too.

    3. Madonna
I really admire Madonna too. She put on a great show when I saw her in concert.

    4. Lena Philipsson
Another Swedish singer that I've loved since childhood.

    5. Whitney Houston
She's had me hooked since I Will Always Love You. Love her voice and type of music.

    6. Faith Hill
I began to listen to her when I was a teenager and caught her music videos on CMT. I used to do my homeworks and watch that at the same time. I watched it more than MTV. I wish she and Tim comes to Sweden on their world tour as I would love to see her in concert.

    7. Audrey Landers
She was just so nice when I met her at te SF BBQ. After hearing "It takes 2 to fly" and "The Eyes of Winter" on Dallas I tried to get hold of one of her CD's for ages. I never had any luck until I was on vacation in Germany. Then I could order a copy from a record store. When my first Audrey CD arrived in the late 1990s I was so happy I started jumping up and down and I forgot to tip the delivery man.

    8. Lisa Hartman
I loved her on Knots Landing and I love the four albums she's released in the 70s and 80s. She has a particular type of voice.

    9. Agnetha Fältskog
The blonde girl from ABBA. I love her post ABBA albums.

    10. Frida

The brunette girl from ABBA. I think the only reason Agnetha ranks higher is because she's released more post ABBA albums.

    11. Cherish Lee
Another really nice singer. I love country music so her type of music suits me just fine and I've replayed her songs over and over on my phone.

    https://youtu.be/EB2GWgaoxyo
    12. Sofia Källgren
A Swedish singer who used to be my sister's favorite when we were kids. I got to interview her once back in 2005 and she was also really nice. She has this really high soprano voice and for some reason she's popular in China.

    13. Lisa Marie Presley
She has this rock edge to her music and on her first two albums she is cursing in her lyrics. She has attitude and her first two albums are great to listen to when I am really angry or cleaning. It just sooths my soul and makes me feel better. Her last album is more mellow but still great.

    14. Cher
Great singer who has managed to sustain a career for many decades.

    15. Tina Turner
I've found myself listening to her music a lot while working lately. She has also sustained a career for many decades.

Right below my list would be:

    Lady Gaga
Her music makes me wanna get up and dance. Also she seems to make a lot of sense when she talks. I really struggled whether to put her or Tina in my last official spot on my list.

    https://youtu.be/YReJiIKzKR4
    Lizette Pålsson
Another Swedish singer who's a favorite of my sisters. Really nice singer but only has two albums that's both from the 90s.

    Kylie Minogue
I love her 80s stuff the most.

    https://youtu.be/8TILL5yoLZ8
    Pernilla Wahlgren
Another Swedish singer who had some great albums back in the 1980s.

    https://youtu.be/1LTOF5t2Tao
    Sarah Dawn Finer
Another Swedish singer that's more recent.

    Olivia Newton-John
Love her in Grease and also love her albums. My favorite is probably the Gaia album.

    Diana Ross
Like the nice 70s and 80s sound to a lot of her songs.

    https://youtu.be/w5BjDIU2Kso
    Sanna Nielsen
Yet another Swedish singer that's more recent.

    Bonnie Tyler
Love her raspy voice and the 80's pop rock albums.

    Sarah McLachlan
This is my sad music. So if I am listening to her I probably feel sad.

I wonder if we could do something with songwriters...Best Songs written by Artist X (not necessarily performed by Artist X).

I didn't even know who my favourite artists were until I started to think about it.

And I'm not even sure if these favourite artists have recorded my all-time favourite songs. It's two different ways of approaching music (I think?)
Should I add Leif Garrett to my list of favourite male singers because of my favourite song "I Was Made For Dancin'"?
Surely David Cassidy was a better singer?

    Or not?

    Oh, the dilemma!

I thought I was going to have a handful and I'm not thinking about Sam Fox.

Then I questioned how I would prioritise who deserves a mention and where they fit on my table.

While some of that felt like I had to do some hard thinking, I simply went through my iTunes and listed the female singers by how much I listen to their albums.

Not only did I end up with more than a handful, I had these left over.

    16. Lily Allen
    17. Bette Midler

If I was to base my rankings on most played this year, Janet would be at the top. It's only recently that I've started to explore her music, I only had her 'Decade' album and a close friend introduced me to the song "This Time", I was totally blown away by the whole production and so I bought her 'janet.' album and I've kinda obsessed over it this past two weeks, yesterday I bought her 'Rhythm Nation' album and I'm very much looking forward to getting into that one.

I can't believe this singer has released so much music that I simply ignored throughout the 90s onwards.
