Steven and Claudia's private conversation during the dinner party, Sammy Jo "spilling the beans" about Fallon's father, Blake and Steven's confrontations, Blake telling Fallon to make her marriage work, Krystle who overhears Fallon and Nick's amorous tête-à-tête...

Surely it was Dynasty's most iconic room?

    Definitely.

I would also add Steven 1’s departure, Blake reclaiming the mansion from Alexis and Ben and also Dominique saying to Blake they share ‘our daddy’.

    *Matthew´s comeback (S7)
*Blake and Alexis dealing with their past and future (S9)
*the Carringtons watching the news (S4) which led to Blake´s bankrupcy
*Blake and Jeff in tears after Fallon´s dead (S5)
*the very first scene was shot there

Didn´t the doctor tell Krystle she is ill in this room, too? (S9)

Well, no, it was the windowless solarium.

Other beautiful rooms (that sadly disappeared):

Was this the main living room? And for how long?

That set is even used in season 9! It gets difficult to say exactly though, as the sets were reconfigured and had bits added to and were used as different rooms. That's basically Blake and Krystle's bedroom too. In season 9 it's where Sable says her strange home, hearth and heart line. Or whatever it was. And isn't it the room where Krystle and Alexis have their first showdown in season 2?

Well I'm sure it was, but The Carringtons don't have an iconic living room like the Ewings did. Sometimes it was hard to tell if it was still the living from season 1, or partially room/partially extension of the main entrance i.e. the kind of room where visistors would wait before they were invited into the living room or library.

I could usually tell by what fireplace was there and by the furniture. There were really only two rooms used as living room/sitting rooms at the mansion. The one you posted a picture of and then the conservatory.
Steven and Claudia shared a bedroom at the mansion at one point and it was more like a suite with a smaller sitting room at one end with a fireplace. But that would have been on the first floor not the ground floor.
Although I know what you mean about it being difficult to tell. The living room looks different depending on what side or angle it is being filmed from. That dark green silk chinoiserie sofa and the cabinet on the back wall were there for all seasons though if I'm not mistaken. And that room has the two white sofas.

The conservatory has two half moon pale green silk sofas, that match the drapes and a much larger fireplace with green marble. ( Fallon's portrait is over it)

I believe they called that one "the drawing room". Some great party scenes took place in that room (I love the season 1 dinner with Matthew & Walter). And one of my favorite scenes of season 2, a very 'Dallas' one, the kind which we don't really see again till season 9, where the family is having drinks before dinner and Fallon notices Krystle's new worry beads: "She sees you get a Rolls for expecting a baby, pears for losing it..."

I think the DYNASTY sets for the mansion were amazing. I wish there was a set tour video on YouTube or something.

Did they ever really call it that on Dynasty? It's what it should be called, but I didn't think Americans really said it. I don't remember it being referred to as the drawing room but I could be wrong. My uncle calls his living room the drawing room and I always think it funny when he says that. He lives in an apartment. I mean it's a very nice apartment but still.

I'm currently watching bits of season 3, looking for tearful scenes, and it's great to be reminded of how beautiful this season still is.
OK, we got Steven II but he had some very decent scenes, Alexis is scheming with every breath she takes and Blake hasn't lost all of his tyranny yet.
And then that reptile Adam Carrington.

    There was a conservatory?

Yes... and I guess it did have a large bay window, flanked by classical columns. However, the drapes were always closed and there was no view from it. The grand piano sat in front of the bay window. Krystle loved arranging roses there. :)

But when I think of a conservatory I think of something like this
    [IMG] [IMG]
    And Filoli doesn't have that.
A piano doesn't belong there. Why didn't the Carringtons have a music room?

Filoli does have a conservatory. Not quite like the ones you posted but beautiful all the same. It's a shame they didn't recreate it for the show.

In my head that's Alexis' art studio. In my continuation fantasy show Lauren lives there.

Yes, it does look really good in that episode as it's filmed from all angles and you see the whole thing. I just realised I lot all my Dynasty pictures when my old laptop died... :(
