I've only just realised that I'm past the point where DS9 started while TNG was still airing, so I'm now going to dance between the two shows.

I always thought I would skip DS9 and go straight to Voyager, but having met a few Cardassians, Bajorans and Ferengi, I became too attached to their cultures and knew DS9 was the place to explore further.

I remember not enjoying DS9 for the first couple of seasons, though I can't remember why. Just starting Emissary and the introduction via WOLF 359 lifts my spirits...

I'm particularly looking forward to Quark, Rom & Nog as well as Odo, Jadzia, Gul Dukat, Kira and Gowron whenever he appears.

The first episode was filled with excitement, not just at seeing all the characters back together again, for the first time in the story, but all the fixtures and fittings that go with DS9.

I was a little distracted with the Orb story because of all the flashbacks, I get that they are trying to build a history for Sisko, but it’s not something that I care much about right now.

The following episodes really stood the test of time, I wasn’t expecting to enjoy every aspect of the show like I am doing.

I’m intrigued with the relationships Sisko is building up from his newly appointed crew and there’s been some familiar faces

Not content with trying to destroy Maggie Gioberti, Jeff manages to do more in space...

Once I caught up with the timeline between the two shows I started watching them as they aired, but that only lasted two episodes. I'm completely shocked by the fact I'm now enjoying DS9 much more than TNG. This never happened back in the 90s.

I have sped through season 1 of DS( and the first three episodes of season were bloody brilliant, but I've got to be strong and see TNG through. The last three TNG episodes have been quite dull (The Chase, Frame of Mind and Suspicions) I'm hoping as we build up to the season finale it will change. I remember The Decent been very good indeed.

I'm half-way through the second season, and my God is this show just fantastic. I can't believe how much I'm engrossed by everything. I was so bitter back in the 90s because this was set on a station and not the usual Star Trek format.

There's been quite a few moments on many of the episodes where Odo is wanting to learn about his origin and we're getting little details thrown in which excites me no end. I don't know how long it will be before I meet the Dominion and I don't want to know, I'm just enjoying the story right now as it is.

This season finale is The Jem'Hadar and if I recall correctly, they were a little bit like the Borg, a true army of soldiers.

Garak is featuring more this season and I remember never knowing whether I trusted him or not

Bashir: What I want to know is, out of all the stories you told me which ones were true and which ones weren't?
Garak: My dear doctor...they're all true.
    Bashir: Even the lies?
    Garak: Especially the lies.

Bleeding hell, there's definitely a new theme in season two and it's not Bajoran, nor Cardassian, it's bloody DALLAS

    First we had Kristin

    Then Dandy

and now Mark has just turned up.

Oh @Ome You've twisted my arm! But at what point should I begin watching DS9? I am like midway through season 4 of TNG.

TNG season six has a two part-er called CHAIN OF COMMAND - DS9 starts after that conclusion.

There are a few crossovers which I'd completely forgotten about. They are not major crossovers and don't spoil anything if you watch out of sync, but it's nice when the two shows acknowledge each other.

I'm so excited at the thought of you doing this, even more so if you find it a completely different experience this time, just like I have.

And then should I alternate episodes from each show?

Yes, if you can. There's a couple (I think) where they might be two of one in-between, but it shouldn't make it a problem.

I didn't realise that VOYAGER started in January '95, which places the first episode in the middle of season 3 DS9. I don't think I will do the same as I did with TNG & DS9 because VOY is a completely different place in space and there's no crossovers as such.

DS9 & TNG work well together whereas VOY is its own separate piece of magic.

Well, Quark is in the first episode, while Voyager is at DS9. I think that's very much a crossover! ;)

But doesn't really affect anything in terms of story or even timeline, not that I can remember though.

Romulan: I think you’re lying Quark

    Quark: About what part?

    Romulan: All of it

Quark: Well at least I’m consistent
