Too funny Daniel. We were thinking the exact same thing.
TNT Dallas offered something similar in their promotional shots. What's with the bronze, metallic finishes?
And note how everyone has the same colour skin tone.
Soon they will make the photos with cut paper, as they do in "South Park"...
"I´m Caitlyn Jenner and I want a role in WC Dienasty"
There is good photoshop and bad photoshop.
This one is very bad.
I could argue the promotional image has been given the The CW Budget makeover
I like it. Not very Dallas, but I get the oil and fire concept. And it's way better than Dynasty CW poster... That looks so fake.
So Dynasty beats NuDallas with a season 4.
Shows you the huge mistake Warner made with Dallas with their walled thinking.
Not many TV brands resonate globally and Dallas, like Dynasty, is a show which works well with a global audience opposed to thinking of it locally.
I'm glad Dynasty has been renewed, shows the genre still has life.
Actually, they did think globally as they signed pretty major deals for Dallas all around the world - the issue was that they kept thinking about it on a linear television platform. I guess the streaming boom hadn't properly started yet in 2011/12 when the deals were being made, but from what I recall the biggest issue to bringing Dallas to another platform was the fact that they had tied down deals in other markets which stopped them from signing other worldwide deals when it was cancelled in the US.
Overall, I just don't think revivals end up working that well on linear television. They can start out high, but then they tend to end up trickling off.
International success baby!
"and hopefully without needing another Cristal!"
Why Dynasty Is Profitable Despite Low Ratings
"The CW just renewed all of their shows, but some are scratching their heads as to why Dynasty was included. Most weeks, Dynasty is at the bottom of the ratings pile. One main reason is because this is a show that is an international hit thanks to their Netflix deal." - https://www.tvshowsace.com/2020/01/09/dynasty-season-4-how-did-cws-lowest-rated-show-get-renewed/
And with that, I thank all of you who are watching internationally for allowing this show to continue.
I'm talking about Warner themselves who seemed to wall themselves in thinking of linear channels and not profits from producing it for other global platforms.
Having the show on linear channels adhocly around the world is the same as it's always been.
When the show ended Netflix was big and it was never an option for them. Less about Netflix not wanting but the lack od partner deals Warner were not happy to get into at that time.
If Dynasty is a success, then Dallas would have been even bigger.
I find it odd that we have to wait until April to see it on Netflix. I hope that does not happen for season 4.
Oh, I agree, but sometimes we tend to forget how quick the world moves - in 2011/12, tying it into those linear channels and getting all that money instantly maybe made sense. Dynasty is lucky to exist in the streaming dominant timeline. I do think that if nuDallas had done the streaming thing we would've had more seasons, then again, would nuDynasty exist without nuDallas? Would anyone have been taught the lessons that needed to be learned?
I feel like we might get another Dallas sooner than we think. I think it depends on how long they signed up that copyright for.
I think they would have done Dynasty regardless, Dallas would be a reason not to do it.
I think they sold in the tone which is veru different to Dallas.
I actually find Dynasty more watchable than TNN's Dallas. It is having fun plus as its on Netflix the forward button comes in handy for the dull scenes
I think they're writing nuDynasty very old school, especially season three. They're also throwing the references out there to satisfy fans (don't think we don't see or hear you writers!)
NuDallas ironically tried to be "current". Which doesn't work well with these revivals.
As opposed to teenybopper Instagramnasty?
And was 80s Dallas not current in the 80s?
And wasn't John Ross & Christopher's Current Dallas vs. Bobby's Oldskool Dallas part of the conflict in TNT Dallas?
Well, is MURDER current? Ha. Haha. Ha. Ha. Ha.
But seriously just the whole cutting of episodes and crap. NuDynasty feels very OldDynasty atm.
But NuDallas isn't a remake, it's a sequel. It's the Ewings in modern-day Dallas. It makes sense, and it's fascinating to see how things have changed (and what hasn't). The next chapter will be Dallas In Space.
But is a sequel always better? Do we want Dallas in Space?
NuDynasty going proper soap seems better to me. It's really quite good, you should watch it dear.
A sequel isn't better just because it's a sequel, but at least it explains the show's "current" approach.
But it pales in comparison with TrueTori, doesn't it? I've watched a few clips on YouTube, it's awesome!
