The CW is committing to Dynasty.

The younger-skewing broadcast network has handed out a back-nine episode order for its reboot of the 1980s primetime soap. The pickup is the first full-season order placed by The CW this season.

Dynasty, produced by CBS Television Studios, is averaging 0.4 among adults 18-49 and 1.3 million total viewers with three days of DVR. That's smaller than the returns for Valor. However, Dynasty boasts a lucrative Netflix deal and makes the full-season order almost a slam dunk.

The series, which marks the return of Gossip Girl producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage to the network, bowed to largely negative reviews. (The Hollywood Reporter's Daniel Fienberg said the show is "not a primetime soap worth catfighting over.")

Elizabeth Gilles, Nathalie Kelley and Grant Show star in the drama from Fake Empire and showrunner Sallie Patrick. Original Dynasty creators Esther and Richard Shapiro also executive produce alongside director Brad Silberling.

The network originally ordered a "partial" season, and this article states that the network went ahead and ordered additional episodes to finish out/complete the season.

It's a vote of confidence in a way, or at least a sign they're okay with how things are going thus far.

They're already up to Season 2 plotlines by the fourth episode. So nuDYNASTY will likely finish out the year, and that will be that. I guess we can expect Roger Grimes' body, entwined with Ted Dinard's, to float up out of Lake Allatoona by Christmas.

It means it got the back 9, right? They get 13 and now 9 more episodes. Doesn't mean it gets a season 2. That news probably won't come until the new year, if it does.

Getting a full season order...This is a sign the series will most likely get a season 2. I can't see why with how bad, terrible, awful, no good the ratings are. It's lowest rated show on all of TV for Christ's sake! We are into episode 5 and the show has been pretty "boring" especially with the characters of Jeff and Michael, and their interaction with Fallon, and Fallon's so-called "business". Not that great of a storyline. NOTHING seems to be going on!

If they cut back episode number from 22 to say 20 or 19 or 18 then that will be a "bad sign". But they got the 22 according to this, for season 1. That still doesn't mean a season 2, but that means a very, very good chance there will be one. Pathetic with it being lowest rated show in all of TV...

The stories are NOT good. The only good story is the Matthew murder and Claudia acting all psycho. That's pretty much it.

So Blake hits Claudia with his car...then in the next episode she's all fine and up again from the promo. Why did they even show that? They don't know how to keep viewers from tuning in.

Fallon is good but her story is just stupid. "My company". She hasn't even done a damn thing at her company, nor did we see her doing anything really at Blake's company. Jeff is so boring! Just get rid of him! He was a big part of the original one, I'm sure, but this guy is just an ass. He looks gay, acts it, and he's just overall boring. I'd rather see Fallon with Michael.

Well, bitch all you want, they are commited to Netflix which brings them alot of money, obviously they are looking at the numbers outside the U.S. which are probably much better.

It's got to be the most pathetic thing though. Lowest rated show on TV. That would never ever ever ever happen. Not even for something like that. But I guess they are going by Netflix views.

    I dunno
Yet again: Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. That's actually the lowest rated tv show on tv (though Dynasty isn't far behind).

Les Moonves pointed out before Dynasty even aired that it was profitable due to the gigantic Netflix deal. Add the general inbalance between shows produced by Warner/CBS and either Valor or Dynasty was going to kept until the spring. I guess Valor lost that battle, which is interesting because that show actually had a small increase this week.

I think it's telling of the forum's interest in fauxDYNASTY that a day after episode 5 aired not a single review has been posted. So much for my plan to at least read those.

The last episode before Hiatus will be aired on dec. 6th. Wonder if that's when they'll introduce Alexis? Why not wait until january?

I thunk nuDYNASTY is only fun for us who are catching the old plots re-done.

Especially if it's still Helmut Berger.

Good news for the forum members who've been watching. As the report mentions, the catch up numbers are bumping ratings up to over the million mark which is acceptable for a CW show these days. This should also allay any fears that anyone may have had about the show getting the chop before Alexis shows up.

Well if he doesn't play De Vilbus, he could still be cast as nuAlexis. :spinning:
