Showrunner Sallie Patrick broke the news on her Instagram account.
She also mentioned that her replacement was her first showrunner on “Dirty Sexy Money”. So I’m guessing she’s talking about Josh Reims.

This is actually good news. I hope the next show runner would do a better job that she did.

Mike Kelley created it, Sallie was a writer / producer on the show from season 2 onwards.

It'll be interesting to see if the new showrunner can tighten up the overall plots. It's been a long time since I saw season one of Dirty Sexy Money, but from what I remember it fell apart in season two.

Season 2 of "Dirty Sexy Money" was way better than season 2 of "NuDynasty" so there is hope for some improvement.

Well maybe S2 was a dream after Fallon received that thing beating her head resulting in Oz... or if they manage to hire Nat Kelley again (now I think I'm the one in Oz), it was Celia/Cristal the one dreaming after Claudia shot her... Dream Dream Dream!!!!!!!!

It'd be funny if they show Ms. Gunnerson watching Dallas and saying having a dream season is still a ridiculous plot, then cut to Celia/Cristal waking up from coma

Thank God! I'm sure it's probably partly her fault that this season has been so godawful. Now if we can get rid of the other two show runners and replace them with new ones that actually care about storytelling and geniune character development, that would be great!

This tells me that maybe the CW isn't really happy with the way this season has played out and now with the Netflix deal gone they are making last ditch attempts to save the show. Too little too late though...

Should we roll out the red carpet for Cynthia Cidre?

Only if we can roll her up in it like a "Hack Burrito" and beat her like a piñata.

Oops, did I say that out loud? :fp:

Seriously, though I don't think we can deposit all the blame at the feet of any one person. NuDynasty seems to be a show by committee, and she is only one member of the committee. If their #1 desire for the replacement is to "fit in with the others" rather than "bring a new set of eyes" then we won't see much of a change.

She wrote all those really awesome episodes, didn't she?

The show had become so uneven that I welcome a new showrunner. I hope it has a positive effect on the show and helps them stabilize things more. My other hope is that they still continue to throw in the easter eggs from the original series. Of course we need confirmation of who the new showrunner is so we can see if it's someone who can even writer. I do recall Dirty Sexy Money being good so if it is the person who ran season one of that show then I wouldn't be upset.

    ETA:

    Deadline reported on this: https://deadline.com/2019/05/dynast...new-showrunner-season-3-cw-series-1202622332/

Looking at his IMDB page I'm okay with this. For one he has been with the show all season so he'd be familiar with the show and his other credits are good. Jane the Virgin, Felicity, American Dreams and Everwood were all very good IMO.

I'll bet this switch of show-runners is the reason they had to do the slow-roll on recasting Alexis. SP likely knew she'd be leaving, and did not feel it was fair to an incoming show-runner to saddle him with an actress she wanted, but maybe he didn't necessarily want. Letting him choose his own Alexis was the polite thing to do.

Hopefully he has a better sense of pacing and tone. This season spent too much time on Sam's social media presence while the cliffhanger felt rushed. I don't expect every episode to be as dark as the one filmed in Paris but I would appreciate a more serious tone overall - I really didn't need to see Anders serving Bo at the breakfast table.

I agree that they need to get better with pacing.

I've said it before, but I get the feeling that they plan out where and when certain events will happen (ie when Alexis shoots the gun, when Adam arrives etc) and where the characters will be at the end of the season (hence both Kirby / Sam who started out the season as drifters / grifters ending up in power positions; Alexis would've probably been in the same position if Nicolette hadn't left), but then they just kind of leave the writers to do whatever inbetween with little direction, which leads to drastically different tones depending on who is writing said episode. I hope he can tighten up that aspect of the show imho.

The article says "Veteran Josh Reims, who joined Dynasty as co-executive producer at the begging of Season 2, has been upped to exec producer and named new showrunner."

I'm not that enthusiastic now I know he was already there in season 2...

I have no idea of the dynamics among the folks running the show, so I can only theorize from my experience in other areas.
From experience in other jobs, I can testify that when you take a job working for others, you can't just walk in and tell them what mistakes they are making. That's an easy way to get yourself fired, even more so in an ego-driven business like Hollywood. Your best course of action is to keep your opinions to yourself until the right time, even if you feel like a "yes-man". Now that he has a chance to do things his way--or at least has the power to lobby for his choices against the other producers--they might see a man who didn't really want to do things the way they were being done, but wisely didn't criticize.

As I said, I just hope he helps the show to focus and stop the side tracking that happens far too often.

But I do sincerely hope that he's on Team Mother's Face In The Fire Place rather than Team #SocialMediaStorylines.

He also apparently worked as a show runner for Mistresses and worked on Brothers & Sisters. This could be a good thing.
