    The-Oscars.jpg

About a week ago this year’s edition of the most prestigious film price in the world was handed out and some lucky winners brought home their very own Oscar statue, while others were nominated but went home empty handed. Well in this round we are going to take a closer look at all those movies that were nominated for an Oscar but lost. Out of all those movies, which one is your favorite?

    Totals: In two weeks.

Oh and in case anyone needs a reminder of which movies that are eligiable for this round. Here's a list of all movies that has been nominated every year:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academy_Award_for_Best_Picture

Remember it's only the one that lost, that you can vote for in this round. So no movies that are marked with yellow. :)

Oh and thanks for @Mel O'Drama for suggesting this round.

Yikes this was not easy. I thought I should try to post my list and I easily found myself with a list of 28 movies and a lot of them personal favorites of mine. After some thinking this is how I would narrow it down:

    1. Cleopatra (1963)
    2. Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966)
    3. Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner (1967)
    4. Anne of the Thousand Days (1969)
    5. The Wizard of Oz (1939)
    6. Giant (1956)
    7. Bonnie and Clyde (1967)
    8. The Longest Day (1962)
    9. Nicholas and Alexandra (1971)
    10. Romeo and Juliet (1968)

    Just below my list:

A Street Car Named Desire (1951)
    Roman Holiday (1953)
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958)
    Doctor Zhivago (1965)
    On Golden Pond (1981)
    Ghost (1990)
    Sense and Sensibility (1995)

Since it's Easter, shouldn't we be doing a Top 10 for movies featuring bunnies, painted eggs, chickens, feathers and egg hunts?

I'm going to exclude all the international smash hits from the UK (James Bond, Hercule Poirot, famous horror movies) otherwise it would be impossible to narrow it down to just 10 titles.

    1. Das Experiment (Germany, 2001)
    2. Spetters (Netherlands, 1980)
    3. Schatjes! (Netherlands, 1984)
    4. Notes On A Scandal (UK, 2006)
    5. De Helaasheid Der Dingen (Belgium, 2009)
    6. Morte A Venezia (Italy, 1971)
    7. De Lift (Netherlands, 1983)
    8. La Vie En Rose (France, 2007)
    9. Perfume: The Story Of A Murderer (Europe, 2006)
    10. Bannebroek's Got Talent (Netherlands, 2013)

Here are my picks. I decided to omit any British movie to focus on the rest of Europe (Brexit has nothing to do...).

1- Todo sobre mi madre (1999) - Spain
    2- Roma città aperta (1945) - Italy
    3- Bagdad Cafe (1987) - Germany
4- Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios (1988) - Spain
    5- Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain / Amélie (2001) - France
6- Le cinquième élément / The Fifth Element (1997) - France
7- Der Himmel über Berlin / Wings of Desire (1987) - Germany
    8- Les diaboliques (1955) - France
    9- Metropolis (1927) - Germany
10- Dancer in the Dark (2000) - Denmark

hard round for me, not seen that many outside Ingrid and Roberto Rossellini and if a film has sub titles I tend to doze off and lose the thread!!

    1. Autumn sonata (swedish)
    2. life is beautiful (italain)
    3. 5 branded women (italian)
    4. Stromboli (Italian)
    5. intermezzo (swedish)
    6. Rome , open City (italian)
