So true. As time goes by the less they'll return to the nest for their feedings and Freedom and Liberty will at some point stop feeding them and force our sweet Soap and Chat to get their own food.

They do indeed seem to be in some courtship dance here. :)

    Baby opossum.

Aww, it's so sad when we hit animals while driving. This time of year there are so many birds that fly in front of my car I always look in the rearview mirror to see (my hot face:p) and if I hit a bird that came close to my car. I've had the misfortune of hitting several birds, squirrels, opossum, raccoon, cat and nearly several deer over the years. I was distraught after hitting the cat. It was just a farm cat but still I've had cats and it meant more to me on some level.

Oh, so it's a hotness war over the SC Shirtless Firefighters my dear friend? :cool1

They would be good posers at our Paris fashion show. :loon:

    Indeed! :)

Could have very well been. Chat is such a dear bird. I will so miss him.

:love5: I wish we could watch them forever.

Chat in a nearby tree from someone on the ground.

Speaking of the nest the blue butterfly is seen again.

    :omg:

I have and you are correct it's hard to capture. I always like seeing them as they get ready to go to sleep and their eyes get heavy. They have such full days.

    :ig:

This photo was from 9 April and I believe Soap was born on 4 April and Chat on 6 April. they were little baby eaglets. :)

They have a secret nest where they just flop out and sleep like out Chat did for so long. ;) I guess they have about four to six months off so to speak after their young start hunting and before they being the same process over again.

They do get a steady diet of fish.

They always know when food it arriving. I'm glad we still have one good camera to capture this. Great photo!

BTW, I leaned finally how to determine who is Soap vs Chat. Soap has some white in her tail and Chat does not. So Soap is he one in the background whilst Chat is the one on the right.

Don't be sorry my friend. The Sports section isn't as popular around here. I'm overjoyed you stopped by! :hugs:

I wasn't too sure if anyone else here watched. Two great and hot minds thing alike.

Well you have your lovely Blue Tits that we don't have. Jealous. :)

That is entirely fine. Only someone so weird about flags like myself would have spotted that. the Malaysian flag looks similar as well. I'm willing to wager that most Americans don't know what the English flag looks like. They believe it's the Union Flag and have no idea of the St. George's cross flag. We learn so much from each other. :)

    :best:

Great photos! I looked today and the nest was empty but I saw earlier that a food delivery had occurred.

    Soap awaiting food.

    Food!

Great photo! I'm sure he/she didn't want to leave a perfectly good fish go to waste.

EDIT- Soap and Chat do make an appearance later in the day.

That very true, otherwise Soap and Chat would never leave the nest and its endless supply of food.

Thank you for this Michelle and it all looks very Christmassy :ss7:

    :haha::haha:

I imagine most drivers have hit some wildlife through the years. Glad you managed to avoid the deer - I do believe this could be very dangerous for the car driver.

You're so fond of cats (actually most animals) so I can imagine how this did upset you :hugs: sadly animals are so unpredictable when it comes to traffic.

I remember when I hit the little sparrow I instinctively slowed down and swerved the car (which I know we are not supposed to do) and unfortunately the bird panicked and swerved in the same direction as me.

Of course not my lovely friend :D
because they already belong to me, all of them! :dd:

They could model our feathers range ... Lol!

Me too. I can quite happily sit and watch him doing nothing but chilling for ages.

Here he was on Sunday ....

    Yesterday (Monday) ....

    and finally today ....

Aw this is fab! :bravo1: its wonderful to see him out and about - flying free!

Did you take this Michelle? I was wondering what attracted the butterfly to the nest because they are usually attracted to flowers and I've just read this ..

" A minority of butterflies almost never visits flowers, instead gaining sustenance from tree sap, rotting animal matter, and other organic material" - perhaps the blue butterfly is eating the residue of old meals?

Yes, they try and fight the sleepiness

I've noticed its easier/clearer to capture their facial expression (especially the eyes) when I've taken screenshots of them in the dark.

They are up very early these days as often the nest is empty first thing in the morning.

Whats that old saying? - "the early bird catches the worm" :D

Sounds like they have a honeymoon nest :cool1

Good. It gives them a chance to rebuild their strength and enjoy some freedom.

    Fantastic picture! :ex:

For some reason its always amused me that Soap and Chat have identical feet as their parents....

^^ this was taken yesterday (Monday)

Luckily they seem to have been ignoring our last remaining camera these last few days. I think the novelty of getting on top of it has worn off now that they are able to fly off and enjoy some bigger adventures away from the nest.

    Well sussed! :yep:

So this means that on this picture below, its Soap on the right and Chat on the left :D I've also noticed that Chat is also slightly smaller than Soap.

At least two of us watched the football :ch:

Absolutely, and here we are ---> :danc: :spinning: <---- the two "great and hot minds" thats me on the left, slightly hotter than you on the right .. Lol!

Its good that we can "share" our wildlife/local nature from across the world on here :)

I am such a dumbo at times, glad you were not offended by my carelessness

This is understandable as our flag is so complicated

:gp: .... that nest looks overcrowded these days.

I know they occasionally do some pushing, but on the whole they seem to happily co-exist peacefully side by side.

At one of the times I tuned in today the nest was completely empty, apart from being alive with insects  (made me itch!) anyway, I was about to leave the site when surprisingly two small birds appeared briefly in the nest, they stayed for only about 4 - 5 seconds.

I've tried to find what type of bird they are and the nearest I can compare them to is a Gnatcatcher...

The birds I saw had the same build as the Gnatcatcher - although I only got a quick glance at them and the nest was covered in shade. Whoever the two birds are they're brave little things entering the nest of a family of eagles

I think that was Chat's plan for a few weeks there.

Which brings up a certain special plant.... Michelle.... how is she? Less than six months till Christmas. :ss4:

It is very dangerous as I often see dead deer on the side of the road each week. In '11 I had to lock-up my breaks and just barely kept from hitting this deer. :eck:

Yes, Michelle was teary eyed over killing that cat. :( Poor animals don't know what to do when they suddenly see a car. Very understandable. I'm so sorry that you hit that little sparrow. :(

Pfft! WE SHALL SEE LONG LASHES .... WE SHALL SEE! :bah:

True, but we have to find Soap and Chat in November or whenever the nest show is.

Oh our home bird still enjoys the nest as buggy and smelly as it must be. :giggle: Great photos!

This past night both returned to sleep on the nest. Enough of those nights on tree branches.

    Good siblings...

    Up and Adams...

Yes indeed, I'm sure many insects are attracted to the smelly nest by now even lovely butterflies. I found this image of Freedom and Liberty from a few years ago with a different brood. Look at all the fish. I think Freedom and Liberty are holding off on our Soap and Chat.

Freedom and Liberty do seem proud of themselves. One wonders what these little ones were named and if they were as successful as our Soap and Chat?

    Indeed! :)

They seem to be gone by 6AM here. In this case the early bird catches the fish.... or has mom and dad catch the fish. :fp:

That may not be a kid friendly nest for our viewing. ;)

Very nice photo indeed. They do get along quite well for siblings.

Imagine how well our photos would have been if Soap had just left it alone. Curious bird.

Great photo again! Yes indeed I think you are correct from what I have read. I'm going to miss these two. :love5:

Yes, I'm the more athletic and certainly has the advantage of hotness here. Our Lost Thread battle has bled into our conversations all over the forum. :floor:

We learn so much from each other. :)

You certainly are not no dumbo my dear friend. I'm the dumbo who learns from you. I only have my incredible hotness (you knew that was coming). :pals:

    And interesting. :)

Soap and Chat are really good siblings. Well behaved for the most part except during food deliveries and that one time when Soap discharged on Chat. :fp:

    Good siblings!

Good eye 'Lashes! Curious little birds!

I've heard of these. Just a cutie! It seems the Eagles don't bother smaller songbirds like these. They only kill ducks and geese as much as I've seen.

Michelle take a deep breath and sit down :( she has been very unwell, lost all her red leaves and is now losing what is left of the green ones.

She looks pitiful right now. Today I gave her some plant food and checked that she isn't pot-bound, all I can do is see how she does from now on.
Its not the best news for you to hear :sorry:

Ooo that does sound bad, you must have a lot of deer roaming about. Do you have warning signs up like ours?

    :hugs:

You and your "pffts!" - oh, and CAPITAL LETTERS too! - this is getting serious :lmao:

    He loves it there :D

    Gorgeous pictures Michelle

Btw:- what does "up and Adams" mean? :D

This is a fabulous picture, well found! :bravo1:

Yes, the parents do look incredibly proud - I think that is their smiling faces  and all that fish! What cute babies these two make together, I hope those eaglets on the photo are living a wonderful life.

I didn't see them at all this morning, I tuned in at approx 4am-ish (their time) and the nest was empty.

This was taken yesterday a.m. awaiting breakfast ...

and then Soap became interested in a twig ...

which Chat tried to take from her ....

and ultimately it led to this ...

^^^ they're not kissing, they were getting very tetchy with each other :yikey: it all came to a quick end when they both flew off.

Live Cam - featuring The Honeymoon Nest :giggle: poor Liberty and Freedom deserve their privacy.

    She is a rascal! :D

I think we have done quite well though, considering we just have the one camera now. I do get carried away with screen-shot taking and now I have lots of photos.

Thats what you think Ms Stevens!

We can't help it if hotness surrounds us on every thread :Clol:

..and I ask non-stop questions :loony:

That deserves a "Pfft!" from me :hide:

After I had praised how well they get along the other day they started having squabbles

This was afternoon tea yesterday ...

Someone, whom I think was Soap, didn't want to share and so spread her wings to prevent Chat from getting near the food

Chat didn't look too pleased - I might have the names the wrong way? its difficult to tell who is whom on these two images.

That was very naughty of Soap to do that and not lady-like behaviour :Clol:

    Another great image! :bravo:

This makes sense because the birds I saw were incredibly tiny and had no meat on their bones.

.. and the poor fish, we mustn't forget the poor helpless fish :(

EDIT- I forgot to ask. Have you noticed the Eagle website has a "Cat cafe"? - I keep meaning to have a look at it, but get carried away by our two eagles.

OMG, no! [IMG] I wonder what happened as the last time you updated me she was become a giant and such a happy plant. It's too warm for her to get caught in a draft. Maybe root rot? What a tragic turn. [IMG] Thank you for giving me this hard news. Hopefully your care can revive her.

This is the only photo I have of her as I found the SC gremlins stole your more recent photos. I really hope her journey in this world isn't over. She became so famous. Please keep me informed 'Lashes.

Yes, we have Deer crossing signs.

I only wish they'd cross where the signs are posted.

    And you full name! :p

Thank you! From this morning, just prior to feeding.

I don't know. Obviously Adam had something to do with it. I'll have to ask our Nappy Natalie as I'm sure she's heard that phrase. ;)

Indeed! Look at what I found, Soap and Chat baby photos.

The day after Soap was born and the day before Chat was born.

    :love5:

    And today...

They know what to return for their meals. I feel sad when the parents cut off their food. It will be an unpleasant shock. :yikey:

    I love these photos! :)

    :haha:

:floor:Great photo to cheer me us after reading about Michelle and her illness. :ty:

We can never have too many Soap and Chat shots! Before too long they'll be gone from our view and we need to remember them by something. :)

Edit- I found a few articles that could help in your care of Michelle.

    That's what I KNOW! :box:

    Indeed! :spinning:

    Ask away my friend. :D

They are such greedy eaters. Mom and Dad always have plenty of food... for now. Chat looks overheated here.

    Oh my! Kids!

    Indeed! :ig:

Thank and I found more baby photos!

Indeed, the often overlooked and unloved fish. [IMG]

I have noticed a few other animal cams as well but I too have been too obsessed with Soap and Chat. We'll surely have more time soon when our Eagles leave for greener pastures. :)

She suddenly decided to start shredding her leaves :yikey:

No change at the moment :(

Oh heck, only last week I deleted lots of Michelle photos to make more room for Soap and Chat - I didn't realise it would mean the plant photos would disappear from this site too

    I will :hugs:

Your deer looks far more sprightly than ours

    Yes, that would help :Clol:

Ooo ... I know I've crossed the line when you give me my full title :p

Lol! they've started resembling young puppies in the way they play fight.

:floor: .. and now I'm more confused than ever!

Oh wow! they look like little bits of fluff and how proud and fascinated Liberty and Freedom look :love7:

Very good find Michelle - I barely remember them looking like this, its incredible.

Yes, I imagine they might go hungry for a couple of days.

At least Liberty and Freedom have stopped actually physically feeding them (using mouths) so I suppose thats a step forward to eventual independence. Liberty and Freedom don't hang around the nest for long either, they literally fly in drop the food and fly off.

Thats how I think too, so here are some more photos :D

    This was yesterday (Saturday)

^^^ enjoying a good gossip as they cool off

    This was today...

^^^ they are far more aware of each other these days. I guess they're learning socialising/survival skills?

^^^ at least the poor fish was properly gone this time :(

:ty: for finding all this information :)

I will read through these and put Michelle into intensive care for the next few days

    FAB - U - LOUS! :bowing

The first picture is amazing, just look at the eye contact between parent and babies and then in the third picture our Soap and Chat look like little punk rockers :Clol:

how have these vulnerable and helpless tiny fluffs survived? its magical.

I wonder how many broods Liberty and Freedom have raised, how many children they have had?

Thats very true. At the moment I dont want to waste a minute we have left with Soap and Chat.

Thank you Michelle :hb: its only temporary, I am currently on the hunt for something summery.
At least you can't call me "two-faced" - "four-faced" yes, but not two :loon:

Oh no. She must have gotten a sudden illness, maybe fungal. Did all of her leaves fall off? I can only imagine how sad she looks now. [IMG]

Aww, I guess it will take some time to see if your treatment works. I'm thinking so much about her little life right now. She may be a plant but I had so hoped she would being new joy to your family this Christmas season. [IMG]

Oh no again! [IMG] Now Soap and Chat are involved. :eck: I feel like such a dumpy for not saving those photos. :crazyme: At least I have the one and with some much needed luck, she may get better.

Thank you 'Lashes! You know I have a special place in my hot heart for your Red Devil Michelle.

    :giggle:

    They do don't they.

I'm glad someone took these amazing photos back then. I was too lazy to and regret it. I will remember to next year.

Indeed, they are slowing being weaned in a way by Liberty and Freedom. There is plenty of food around it's just Soap and Chat have to learn to hunt.

This morning ready or a new day.

Wow, so cute. I'm so glad they get along so well. :)

They have been through everything together. I hope this is a life bond.

    Great photos!

Soap or more likely Chat this morning.

I was looking around seeing if there was anything I could do for Michelle.

Thank you for being so kind. I'm just hoping for a bud or some sign of life.

Michelle is more emotional now that Red Devil Michelle is very ill.

    :D

That is a good question. A co-worker of mine has watched them for a few years. I think they are over ten years of age. I think their head feathers don't turn white until they are two or three years old. I'll have to see if anyone ever mentions now many broods Liberty and Freedom have raised. I just know last years was a failure as another eagle chased Liberty away during the cold winter months for an extended time and when Freedom returned to sit on the nest they must have already died. My co-worker said he sat on the nest so long no doubt not knowing why they didn't hatch.
