I loved the old Dallas and partially the new continuation dallas. But both are over. I would like a new Dallas. I would like to recreate Dallas like the old Dallas with the charactors and writing with some old soap opera writers. Now I would not have any actors associated with either Dallas. Have a fresh start. It would have to be about business and yes oil and family and be charactor driven. What do you think about that.

Do you mean new characters or new actors playing the old characters?

New charactors with different personalities but there will be a JR type of charactor.

I think there have already been a number of shows that have tried that but maybe one will eventually strike oil (so to speak). I would still prefer some sort of continuation.

There won't be a new DALLAS or a new DYNASTY--they were the product of the 80s Zeitgeist and of a time when TV viewing still happened around a single set as a family rather in the fragmented environment--both in place and time and medium--of today.
But it's interesting that the networks are trying with their revivals--maybe they think there is a segment of the population craving for them after all--other than us in the forum that is.

The momentum is gone. It's too late to revive the original, and too soon to re-tell the Dallas story.
Blood & Oil could have been the new "Dallas", but of course they had to cancel that too.

An excellent way of putting it Michael. Networks will try the revivals because of the built-in audience. Those same viewers attach a much loved series to a period when our lives appeared more relaxed and enjoyable. Whether that was the case is open to debate. Ratings (U.S.) for the return of TNT Dallas must have left the head honchos of TNT speechless. Clearly the viewers were still there. The issue was the product presented.

As for a "New Dallas?" I think most will see it for what it is, a poor imitation of a classic.

Who knows. If the rebooted Dynasty does well, CBS may well go down that route for Dallas.

Yes I know a lot of fans wouldn't like that. The original Dallas was a well loved, & well crafted series, however most of the main cast are sadly no longer with us.

If it does happen, I just hope they get someone in who has at least seen the original show. Keep Cynthia Cidre well away from it.

I'd still be interested in seeing a rebooted Dallas. Even another continuation series, as long as Cidre wasn't involved.

    Let's just wait & see what happens. ;) :)

I have no problem with a complete reboot but for those against it they still have the original to watch and love. Unfortunately TV has changed far too much for a new Dallas series to tell the same kind of stories and develop the characters, nowadays it has to be super fast, sexy & not at all engaging.

Much like the TNT Cyntax Dallas & that was mostly a big waste of time.

I don't think we've seen the last of Dallas. The concept of the show is too powerful to totally ignore.

I think it'll come back after quite a few years off air when the TNT version has been well & truly forgotten.

It's just dormant at the moment. It'll be back, just you wait & see. :)

The creative blunders of nuDALLAS killed interest even in the old show, much less yet another reboot.

Maybe if they make JR a woman -- but make sure her villainy is justified since she's a woman, let Shonda Rhimes produce, some network will snatch it up.

Her success doesn't always filter through to international markets. Granted she may be the darling of American TV but her shows so far haven't garnered great success here in Australia. Grey's Anatomy (in its early days) had grabbed viewers interest but it quickly tapered off much like her follow up series.

If Dallas was ever to live as a continuation it needs to be helmed by someone who understands what made that bloody show such an international success. It may have been about a filthy rich oil family but at the heart of Dallas WAS family. We could still relate to their daily struggles. I had no such connection to TNT Dallas. It became a story of the lives of others - not the Ewing family.

No reboot (of Dallas) will ever see the light of day in this household.

Dallas in a continuation (not a reboot) don't need to look to hard for a villainess. Her name is Katherine Wentworth. Sure there would be some history to clean up. How does she manage to return to Dallas without being arrested for the attempted murder of Bobby Ewing? Then there is the small matter of correcting that minor issue which arose in TNT Dallas...she's dead.

With Cynthia Cidre stating "there was overwhelming support for the idea in the soap forums by veteran fans of the show." And then we have snapshots of @Snarky's Ghost post.

All it takes is a shower.
