If it wasn't mentioned on the show, it was probably some over-zealous editor cutting too much dialogue. Everything about the situation made that obvious.

Probably because everything on the show made that obvious.

They did not look like any pushing was needed. Unless you are suggesting Jason needed some help in certain graphic areas. :D

Constance called Frankie in London and asked her to come home so she and Jeff would have a chance to get to know eachother.
"Life is too short", is what she said.
This feeling was caused by a conversation she had with Jason just before she made the call.

    How are you feeling Jason?
    -On top of the world.
You've got to tell Sable, after all she's your wife.
-No, not right now. She's not as strong as she seems.
For God's sake Jason, you've got to lean on somebody.

Admittedly, what actually happened in the episode is not as convincing as someone's idea of "being obvious".:cool1
Of course they didn't need any pushing, they were the Great Love That Was Meant To Be, that's why Frankie told Constance that she "couldn't come back" (and Constance had zero knowledge of Jason and Frankie's history).

THE COLBYS is very much about side effects, instead of straightforward action/reaction scenarios.
It seems to me that some fans want to unravel those clever side effects (or ignore them altogether) in order to mould the show into something that it's not.
It's like those Dallas fans who are determined to find something good in JR Ewing or put the JR & Sue Ellen relationship on a pedestal.

Maybe Shelley Winters as Frankie --- with free run of the house, she's always in the Colby kitchen.

I'm certainly in the minority but I have no real problem with Katharine Ross as Frankie... even if I agree with the idea that Diana Rigg or Jacqueline Bissett would have been better...

Definitely not Diana Rigg. She would have been too "diva" for that role and then it doesn't make sense anymore.

Speaking of Diana Rigg I came across an old title card I did for her for DYNASTY 69 which I don't think I ever shared :

But Rigg knew how to modulate that, IMHO.

I don't think she would have been too "diva" at all. She could do condescending haughtiness though and that would have been great.

Also Frankie doesn't make sense ever.

But that's not what you really want. You want Rigg wearing turbans and big furs, sneering and bitching and laughing at the other characters.
    Admit it!!

Indeed, she would have been an interesting alternative choice for "Sable".
But not as Frankie, because she's more pure and angelic, the loveliest of the Four Cousins.

Such a gorgeous, sexy, charming woman... plus I love how she kinda hams up this scene, albeit in a subtle way.

Yes, Jacqueline Bissett is a good choice. But contrary to Katharine Ross, she was again a movie star in the eighties... so I can't imagine her accept to sign on The Colbys.

Another proposal is Leigh Taylor Young. Not a big movie star, but she was famous thanks to her wedding with Ryan O'Neil. And she was good in Dallas as Kimberly Cryder in the 1987-1988 season of the show.

I don't think the show needed a third movie star. Stefanie Powers (who was a star nonetheless), would have been my choice.
