:)I finally was able to visit the Cul-de-Sac of my favorite show ever! My daughter recently moved to LA so this was on the top of my list of places to see. My family was very supportive of this quest and we ended up going fairly early in the morning so we could avoid heavy traffic. This was definitely one of the highlights of our LA trip for sure!

Last month my sister and I were on vacation in California and then we stopped by the cul-de-sac so I thought I'd share some photos. :)

    California2017 1383.JPG
Notice the house in the very left corner?
For some reason I don't think they ever used that on the show...

    California2017 1379.JPG
    Ewing house...

    California2017 1397.JPG Fairgate/MacKenzie house.

    California2017 1383 (2).JPG
    Avery house...

    California2017 1400.JPG
    Abby's house...

    California2017 1378.JPG
    Kenny & Ginger's house...

Oh and after looking around some (on another day, as the places are really not close to each other at all) we also managed to find the Knots Landing beach used in the first seasons:

    California2017 1001.JPG
Somehow I don't think the fence will be standing there much longer so I am glad I got to see it before it was exchanged for a new one...

That's all but I hope you've enjoyed these photos. :)

Nice photos. Where exactly is the ramp down to the beach? Is it in Torrance?

The ramp down to the beach is quite close to Torrance. You go down to Redondo beach and then drive south towards Palos Verdes Estates and you will find it before the road goes up into the hills.

It's okay. Oh and I think it's possible to change your ratings. There is a button in the right corner that says "Undo Rating" so if you click that you can change a rating you have given if it's gotten wrong. Just as a tip.

I understand how you feel Matthew and I hope you will be able to go to LA and see it for yourself some time. It's definitely worth visiting. :)

Great posting. I wonder if anyone here has decided to do (if not already) a side-by-side photo comparison of the houses today as opposed to how they were presented when Knots Landing first aired.

Matthew it's exactly how I feel about visiting Southfork Ranch. It's on my bucket list.

Karen's house looks tiny upstairs compared to the set they used. It looks like only one or two bedrooms upstairs.
Val's house looks much bigger upstairs by comparison. Plenty of room for the twin's families to move around in!

It's deceptive, there's only one room in the front (the living room has a cathedral ceiling) but several across the back. Karen and Abby's houses are both the same floor plan but different facades; Karen's house has a steeper roof. The room to the right of the entry is a bedroom. The sets for Karen and Val's houses were close to the actual houses but both have family rooms off of the kitchen (and of course they eliminated the first floor bedroom from Karen's house). The location of the living room, dining room and kitchen in Laura's house are the same as the set (prior to when it was reconfigured for the Williams family) but the staircase is to the left as you enter and there is a family room behind the garage.

Karen's house layout is very different. I haven't been to upstairs, but when you enter it the living room on the left is much smaller than it looks on the show, and also it's 90 degrees compared to what you see. Kitchen is on another side, and so is the staircase (it's after the corridor, not visible from the living room) .
I'm not sure if they've actually shown the outside (maybe during the "kiss the cook" episode?) But again - way different from what I rember it .They have a cool outside bar area and a swimming pool.

I love that it's a real street, not just a set somewhere on a back lot, for some reason it feels more special. How do the residents feel about the "tourist attraction"? Do we know?

The ones at Laura's house And karen's house were super nice and invited me in. Also been to Val's house many years ago .
I think I met the entire family who's staying at Abby's house, but no one was ever willing to let me take a peek. I did see them once after midnight (went to a party nearby and couldn't resist...). I was like don't think I'm a weird stalker or anything, and they were like "yeah we know, knots landing.."
I'm sure they don't get too many people visiting so once in a while is ok for them.
Also , there's really nothing much to do there for more than 10-30 min. So it's not a big nuisance.
