Dallas - season 2 (episode 11 & 12)
Law & Order.
Porridge series 2.
I caught up with Hollyoaks. Over the last month, one person crushed to death by a tree on her half-brother’s wedding day (Piers Morgan reported on the death), one gangster shot dead when he tried to kill a multiple murderer gangster (who shot his own firstborn son dead) who escaped death but was poisoned with potassium chloride in the pub and died two episodes later. And a troubled millionaire ex-adult movie star bludgeoned to death by his wife’s first cousin once removed with a hammer to his head on the day of his remarriage to his ex-wife. Leaving his young son, Max without either parent. Max’s mother having been killed by her late half- brother and Max’s father being offed by Max’s first cousin twice removed. Although as Russ’ wife is also Max’s biological aunt, and Russ also got his wife’s second cousin pregnant (the sister of the gentle giant murderer second cousin his wife slept with), Max will be okay. Especially with the woman who killed his father also being a children’s nanny and knitting a button from his father’s wedding suit on to his toy, just like she did with his third cousin’s grandfather when she murdered him.

Yesterday I finished another brief, open-ended soap that deserved a better luck: "Relativity", this time from the 90´s.
Produced by some of the talented people who created "thirtysomething", it´s one of the most creative romantic dramas I have seen lately. Strongly based on characters than plot, it showcases the talents of actors who went on to better things, as happened with my previously reviewed soap, "Reunion": baby-faced Kimberly Williams (seen lately on "Nashville) and hunky David Conrad ("Agents of SHIELD") make the most unlikely, gorgeous couple who meet in Rome and start an affair. When they return, their everyday lives get entangled as well as their families.
Other well-known actors who appear in this are "House M.D."´s Lisa Edelstein (as the gay sister), "Entourage"´s Adam Goldberg, "The Good Doctor"´s Richard Schiff, "Californication"´s Pamela Adlon, and "Hung"´s Jane Adams. Among the bit players are "Charmed"´s Holly Marie Combs, "Flamingo Road"´s Barbara Rush, and "Glee"´s Matthew Morrison.
Realistic but soulful, wonderfully scored, focused on dialogues and expertly directed, the show only lasted one 17-episode season (and yes, it was aired by ABC...). Some of the subjects it superbly handled are romanticism vs. pragmatism, coming-of-age, singlehood vs. married life, lesbian relationships, adultery, parents´ death, etc. There is a subjacent ironic humor that involves the whole series and makes it something special.
Well, I pulled out the wedding album and was having happy times reviewing some wedding days on Hollyoaks.
Before both her deaths, serial killer schoolgirl Nico murdered murderer gangster Trevor Royle on his wedding day to multiple murderer Grace Black (sister of murderer Clare Devine, daughter of multiple murderer gangster Fraser Black, stepdaughter of multiple murderer Glenn Donovan and half-sister of murderer Liam Donovan...whose pregnant girlfriend she shot dead on a train).
Multiple murderer bad boy Warren Fox murdered his pregnant fiancée on their wedding day and then pretended that she jilted him.
and nine years later Warren Fox (after being incinerated/impaled/body positively identified by people who knew him as being dead/buried and returning unscathed and alive around 18 months later, committing another couple of murders, returning in the shower, serving a hefty four and a half-year sentence for murder and attempted murder, after which he murdered again and attempted more murders) got himself stabbed by the woman he was cheating on his current fiancée with on his next wedding day. Unfortunately this led to his pregnant fiancée trying to get Warren murdered. So he kidnapped her and stole her babies away.
Max Cunningham got himself hit by a car and died on his wedding day
Calvin Valentine got himself murdered in a flash forward episode months before he was actually murdered by his bride’s cousin, who he got pregnant.
And Texas Longford got herself defenestrated.

The new episode of NCIS and Criminal Minds.
I’m still going through the Hollyoaks wedding album, alighting on the time a minibus with faulty brakes was stolen for the elopement of two characters and it crashed into a double wedding, killing off four characters. Which was fun.
The new episode of Criminal Minds and NCIS: Los Angeles.
Last night I finished "Penny Dreadful" at last. I loved the ending, despite the sad things that happened (this wasn´t "Little House" after all). I think I´m gonna miss that very gothic atmosphere, the re-imagining of the classic horror creatures and, above all, Eva Green´s mesmerizing performance. At least they are planning a sort of "revival" with new characters that might be a treat too.
Here´s the trailer for this last season (watch out if you are easily scared!):
