Somehow I was really surprised to find JR's tombstone while on the WB Studio Tour a few weeks ago. I don't know why but I was under the impression that it was a real stone and that it had been left at the Southfork cemetary for fans to visit. But I guess I was wrong or?

Could it be that this was a replica and that there is an actual stone too or was this it?

Either way this "stone" wasn't even a stone at all but was made of something that seemed like styrofoam!

That is a surprise. I'm guessing the good folk at Southfork Ranch had an actual stone replica made for people to visit. I'm assuming the above was made for filming JR's Funeral scene to easily accommodate moving it around. With work and safety eyeballing our every move at work-sites we couldn't have some poor sod do their back carrying that thing around.

    I dunno
Yep. I'd assume there were multiple headstones made for various reasons, such as moving it around as you suggested. I'd assume one of them went to "Southfork" and then they kept one themselves.

Also, I hope you badgered them to make season 4 come true Karin.

I know you would have Sarah. :)
I was really surprised to find it but settled for just having a picture taken of it! ;)
I don't need a reminder that our beloved JR is dead...

I didn't get to talk to anyone in power at the WB. I just took a studio tour like any other tourist so I wasn't able to tell anyone that I wanted a season 4. But I guess the people who worked there did notice that I was a Dallas fan! :D

It was nice to see that the WB had some Dallas stuff. It seems like there is some awareness that Dallas is a valuable brand for them, I mean I found JR's boots and hat in the museum section too and they played the Dallas music and showed some photos on a screen that was changing images. It showcased some of their biggest hits. So it was nice to see Dallas get the recognition it deserves. :)

    Well...if anyone was prepared to listen to my requests for another season of Dallas I'd request the following;

    1. A showrunner that fully understands and appreciates the history of Dallas.
    2. Dallas is a series about family, business, sex, scandal, blackmail...not a crime drama.
    3. Have the legendary Bobby and Sue Ellen front and centre of compelling storytelling.
    4. Bring back those forgotten Ewing's like Lucas and Margaret.
    5. Return the interior of Southfork to its original floor plan, just updated decor reflecting Ewing money.
    6. I don't care how you do it...get Victoria Principal back. Doesn't her new boyfriend work as cameraman? Offer him a job.
    7. I don't care how you do it...get Morgan Brittany back. I'm desperate to see how life has evolved for our mis-understood Katherine.
    8. No brothel owner/coke snorting grandmother stunts.
    9. No threesomes
    10. Finally. Develop a story that reflects the history of Dallas and it's characters like Jock, Miss Ellie and the man we all loved to hate, JR Ewing.
    I can only dream :)

    Merry Christmas :14:from downunder.

    Excellent wish list @Rove

I agree with all the points you are making. If Dallas TNT had had all of that I bet it would still have been on the air!

And just to add a touch of eeriness. There is a scene where the character of Jock walks across this section of Southfork in the early years. I cannot remember the episode but I recall the young tree and the view of the house just like we see in the above photo. Who would have thought this would be his final resting place.
