What is your take on Mary Kate McGeehan, who portrayed the character of Linda Caproni Gioberti, mid 2nd season to the start of the 4th season? IMHO Linda was a pleasant enough young woman and daughter to local 'throw your arms up in the air' baker Vince, who was a very highly strung Italian, as well as foe of Angela et. al. Mary Kate / Linda also had another bonus credential; her resemblance to super model Linda Lusardi. I'm sure this swayed the attraction for Cole. Unfortunately Linda came to a premature sad end, as was typical of FALCON CREST. Or had Linda gone as far as she could in the wine country?

Linda and Cole are having a 'yes, no or maybe so', (a scene from season 3, 1983 - '84):

Linda: "You are being stubborn and rigid for no reason!"

    Cole: "That's right!"

I'm amazed that she lasted one and a half season. She was really such a non-character.

She wasn't the best casting. She was okay at first, but the show seemed intent on presenting her as a soulful personality to whom Cole could cleave -- and in stark contrast to the grasping Melissa. But she didn't play it with any consistently, and in the weeks leading up to her death, Linda Caproni became so semi-bitchy and possessive, in sort of a contrived way, that you knew she wasn't long for this world.

Add to that her '80s frightened perm, and she just couldn't be allowed to survive.

And don´t forget her father! He wasn´t highly-strung, he looked like a psycho!! He seemed to have channeled Carlo Agretti´s bad karma!!

As for Linda, I agree with the above: she was a non-character, though very beautiful. At least they didn't drive her crazy and killed her at the plane accident (by the way, I wish Melissa had had the chance to have a death scene in the hospital like hers. She truly deserved it a lot more than Linda!)

One character who did deserve to die in a horrific accident, but sadly didn't, was Robin Agretti.

Poor, poor Robin. I think we all envy her for sacking the Cole in a record time...at least I do! As I said once before, I could see her and Melissa in school as two mini-beeches scheming all time. The nuns would made her pay, of course...

Barbara Howard's Robin was written as a whiny spoiled brat and surrogate mother who became jealous of Cole and Melissa. Robin was a character I could've done with or without and preferably the latter. However it was important to have introduced more of Melissa's side of the family; as the show progressed, annoying as Philip and Theresa Agretti's daughter was.

Barbara Howard who acts as Robin Agretti is being interviewed. She is asked if she envisages staying in the show, should TPTB decide to make Robin permanent, ('behind the scenes'; from season 4 and season 5, 1984 - '86):

"Well I only agreed to a short term contract, last year. I signed for a year and I came in for a definite plot; which I have been doing, having the baby. All nine months worth. I knew I would be on for a while. I could be leaving fairly soon. I could leave and come back or whatever. It is very up in the air!"

I agree with the comments that Linda was dull. It was like she existed to be a complete opposite to the firecracker that was Melissa. A sort of nice, homely character like Maggie but without the charisma. Always destined to die prematurely so the writers never really made much of the character which was a shame. Has she been a more three dimensional character I might have been more sorry when she died but she was a textbook Star Trek redshirt (if you're not familiar with the trope, a "redshirt" was a red-uniformed security officer or engineer on Star Trek who was introduced to accompany the main characters on an exploration but would die shortly afterwards).

I have been looking at seasons 1 - 5, when the show was more or less on top of the game and despite being a sponger I did like Robin more than Linda. Barbara Howard was just as attractive as Mary Kate McGeehan, perhaps even more so but Robin's storyline didn't really go anywhere in the end. I expected major fireworks from Melissa about Robin keeping Hope.

Linda had a bit of a handicap in the Spanish version: "Caproni" sounds almost like our word for "bastard". So every time they said "Mr. Caproni", I couldn´t help laughing because it sounded like "Mr. Bastardi"...

Linda was similar to watching paint dry, although she did have a few humourous scenes with her father Vince. Harry Basch who was Vince had such good acting skills, in my opinion.

Mary Kate McGeehan now works mainly as a dialogue coach, for kid actors. The last acting job she had was eight years ago.

An interview with Mary Kate discussing dialogue coaching, among other topics:

The problem is they failed at making her likeable, which the character needed, with giving her the happy ending and all. I felt she needed some comeuppance for her behavior instead. Everytime I see her I want to go to youtube and watch Jason whack her.

There’s no way Linda could have been kept on the show any longer. She just wasn’t a long-term character. I’m surprised she lasted as long as she did. The actress’s name was only ever featured at the end of the episodes, too.

At best Linda was a filler character. Vince was the main Caproni and was as entertaining as his daughter was boring.

Funny how she lost the will to live as soon as her husband came into the room. The only people who I've seen die quicker were April Stevens and Sheila Foley

Ugh, no to Robin and Linda. Robin did deserve a smackdown. I wish somehow that baby managed to be Lance's and Angela scooped her up and sent Robin packing.
