That new NBC daytime show of hers is looking like it'll replace either the piece-of-garbage 9am hour of the Today show or Days Of Our Lives.

She'll make instant enemies if she dares to knock off the hourglass.

Hopefully she will recall how Katie Couric handled a similar situation a few years ago. Couric got a similar "sweetheart deal" to join ABC and host a daytime show in 2012 or 2013. Everyone assumed this was the death blow to General Hospital, ABC's last soap. ABC had cancelled two soaps in 2011 and replaced them with talk shows, so this would have gotten them completely out of the soap business. Couric was barraged with mail from GH fans warning her that if her show replaces GH, they won't watch--and would never forgive her for "killing GH". Now granted, this was not Couric's decision--ABC would have been the one to "kill GH"--but she used her celebrity to 'encourage' ABC not to cancel GH in order to make room for her. Ultimately, it was her attempt to inoculate herself against whatever decision ABC made.

ABC indeed wanted Katie (her show) to air in the 3pm eastern slot that GH had owned since the 1960s, but decided to move GH up one hour to put Katie on in that slot rather than cancel GH entirely. Even after Couric's show was a disappointment and cancelled, GH remains in that earlier slot in most markets, chugging along long after Katie was forgotten and Couric left ABC for...just what IS she doing these days?

Anyway...Megyn Kelly is a pretty smart lady, so I would think she'd know there is no wrath quite like that of angry daytime soap fans. Her past problems with Donald Trump would look like kindergarten squabbles in comparison! NBC loses nothing by pulling one hour of the Today Show and giving it to her. Unless Matt Lauer has one of his divo tantrums and refuses to share his morning spotlight with Kelly, I think she'd be a better fit for late-morning news and talk than early-afternoon, where people are more accustomed to tabloid talk in the vein of Maury, Jerry, and Dr. Phil.

I think the very best idea would be to program her show opposite those cackling hens on The View (11am eastern) since her discussions are so much more dignified and respectful than the name-calling and talking over one another that we see on The View. Kelly's style could make them look even more ridiculous than they already do.

...and even though Kelly's show will not likely premiere until September (in whichever time slot they decide on), Tamron Hall just up and quit NBC over it. Sounds like confirmation to me. She and Ann Curry can have lunch and "catch up on their stories".

Now they're saying Megyn Kelly's show will not be "the third hour of Today"--it will simply be a free-standing show ("Hey Hey, It's Megyn!" would be a cool title--DA) and NBC will just ditch the third hour. This sounds like the best way of going about this, since the Today folks don't really mesh well with MK's style of doing things. I can't see her doing cooking demos and/or dressing up in wacky costumes for Halloween.

I'm sure Savannah Guthrie is heaving a sigh of relief...

A piece of history would be lost, but the show is still horrible, especially with all of the Stefano garbage now. They can't seem to think of any new story lines.
