The difference between the original version and this version is the Krystle/Cristal character... she was much stronger and more sympathetic in the original while an entitled slut in the new version. I want Fallon/Alexis to upstage that hack of a character.

I just feel that Fallon needs to act older. Like a woman, not an entitled teenager, but I guess they are aiming this show at that demo, so...

Whatever happened to her obsession with Carrington-Atlanta? I liked that Fallon.

Wait! What? Has one of those junior writers been reading this forum. I'm sure I had set up a similar scene in some post regarding Alexis ambushing a funeral service at the Church. I want my royalties.

On a side note. Everything about this trailer was great...and then Alexis had to go and open her mouth. Just once could the writers play it straight. This scene would have packed a powerful punch if Alexis just stood there, absorbing the bewilderment and death stares.

    Score; C-

It's so... Camp. But like it's trying to be camp. I don't have a problem with natural camp. Original Alexis' entrance was camp, but really it wasn't trying to be. It was just Joan's natural diva-ness and Nolan Miller that made it camp. The scene was totally played straight. In fact Joan's Alexis mostly played it straight, even when she was dressed up like a Christmas tree and bewigged to the heavens. I think when these shows set out to be camp then they become a total mess. Like when Raquel Welch came on CPW and nobody cared because she was sauntering about trying to be Joan Collins but just couldn't touch her.

They have to play it straight and believe in it to sell the ludicrousness of it all. Otherwise it's just clowns in a circus.

I must say I kinda like this scene. First there's the moving cross and the "Omen"-esque music, then we see the high heels with red soles, a very nice detail because it looks devilish and it's also the only colour on her (besides the lipstick).
Even without the promo for this episode, we knew she was coming, it's hard to re-create that surprise moment.
But she can't just walk in and sit down, it has to be...something. And I like her voice so that's a good start.

I can almost predict her scenes with Fallon, but I wonder how she's going to handle Cristal (and vice versa).

I wonder if this NuDynasty would benefit from a more specific style, because sometimes it almost looks like the kitsch absurdity of Pushing Daisies or The Hudsucker Proxy but then it also wants to be other things and the result is a bit of a bland pulp.
Technically, the sky is the limit.

It's what I've been arguing now for a long while. I wonder, given the mood that seems to be prevailing America right now and in other parts of the world, if Dynasty 2.0 should have taken a darker path to reflect that mood. This version is not what I call escapism television.

Upon reflection I think Dynasty could have benefited from this. The Carrington mansion with it's heavy wood interior with some rooms not used. Perhaps the family should have been on the verge of bankruptcy and Krystle (rather than being the secretary) is actually the one with wealth. This would have placed Blake in a position of weakness. The same goes for that smart mouth Fallon.

Perhaps what is hurting the re-boot is they're following the path of the original just a little too much.

I agree Willie. Credit to the stylist for that minor detail as it adds to the feel of her arrival. The problem I have is when Alexis opens her mouth. The dialogue was woeful. Just sometimes the less is more approach can work wonders. I understand in the original series Joan Collins had yet to be cast in the role but what makes that courtroom scene work is how the character of Alexis sashays through the room and we don't hear a word from her. It just makes the anticipation for the following season so much greater.

And then when Alexis does speak Joan acts the shit out of what is basically a monologue. She's blazes through the script playing up every word and she looks stunning while she does it.

I think Alexis should have roller-skated into the church.

Sorry I'm late, I got a flat tyre. Where's the champagne?

I like this entrance better. It even feels more natural...

...and then, of course, came that oh-so-transcendent moment...!!

    Well, here it is...catfight #2

And I can't help but thinking, I hope Fallon suffers!
And that's a good thought because that's how I felt about the first Alexis. Funny, isn't it?

With Alexis vs Fallon.. there really isn't any need for Cristal on the show. I also fear if the show did go the Alexis vs Cristal route... the show would paint Alexis as prejudice against Hispanic people. I would have rather Alexis and Cristal both have been Hispanic, or both have been white so that it would be an even playing field.

It's probably just letting off steam.
Alexis couldn't call Dominique a black bitch, maybe this time they should do it? "Who do you think you are, you cheap nacho tramp?"

Ok, the idea of the crucifix was funny ( maybe too camp no to be spoof? )
But I can't believe they dared to serve us the big-close-up-on-heels-getting-of-the-limo cliché .... I predicted that a few weeks ago. And I m no psychic. It is just predictable.
How many times did we see heels of a Special Guest Villainess out of a limo in Falcon Crest, Dynasty, Knots Landing... etc.
