Death through fire claimed the lives of Julia (or so it seemed) in an emotional scene and then some years later Melissa for sure. Anna Rossini tried to get Angela burning in hell, when she set fire to the mansion in the fifth season. Then on a sensationalism note a bomb went off in Richard's mansion with him and Maggie inside, just as season 4 completed. The Gioberti property also received a bomb, in the first year without Chase because Stag's Leap could not be used as a location, in the future. All things into account which was your favourite flame and smoke galore incident?

Melissa burning the place is the only one I accept. Oh, and Julia in the spring house, of course.

The bombing of Richard's house seemed forced, the bombing of the Gioberti place seemed stupid. Anna Rossini trying to burn the mamsion was okay I guess, but then I haven't seen Season 5 in quite a while

I did love Richard´s house bombing (in a good way!), it was totally unexpected (if you didn´t look at the magazine covers spoiling everything here in Spain!) and it really made the plot advance with Richard and Maggie´s progressive attraction and his getting rid of the Cartel. And it also gave us the amazingly camp scene with Martine Beswick mimicking (and having fun along with it) Sarah Douglas, which was hilarious to watch!!

The scene in which Julia "dies" in the spring house fire is one of the best Falcon Crest scenes ever and it still packs a strong emotional punch even though we later discovered she didn't actually die.

I liked the scene with the bomb that went off right when Richard and Maggie kiss. The build up and the chemistry between the two actors was sublime.
The scene in the springhouse between Julia and Angela was also very good, but the plot hole/retcon soured it a bit for me.

I guess I dislike the bomb at Richard's house because it's a metaphor for the ruination of the last third of Season 4 when network told them to drop the year key plotline: the nazi treasure. It just comes out of nowhere for me and I don't care.

Season 4 should have ended with the fight between Chase and Maggie. Since it was so important that they would remain as the show's family unit this scene felt "big".
The kiss between Maggie and Richard could have happened in the first episode of season 5, it would have been an intriguing start.
I would lie if I said that the explosion didn't look exciting at all, of course it did, but there was no meaty story behind it. It was nothing but a shameless, to-hell-with-the-plausibility crowd-pleaser.

I seriously hate the bombing of the Gioberti mansion, mostly because it looked like a LEGO version. That ugly image tarnished my memory of this fabulous mini-castle.
    If there's one thing I could un-see…*fumes*

The planecrash was caused by a fire in the engine, does that count?
There was no physical danger when Lance blew up Chase's pump house, but the implications were far more interesting than the season 4 bombing.

The bombing of Nick Hogan's car was Falcon Crest's answer to Dynasty's horseback shooting (sorry if that sounds a bit porn-ish, My Little Porny, ha!).
It illustrated how psychopathic their respective villains were, but they never went back to that because these characters couldn't be too dangerous.
And there are so many inconsistencies and "sort of never happened" details. Angela confronted Jacqueline with her secret shenanigans, and that's how she defeated the most powerful villain in the world? Really?
But on-screen, Jacqueline was Chase's mother, so they made it work by simply adjusting the angle.
Sometimes I wonder if soap writers are very bad writers or clever writers who challenge themselves with impossible scenarios.

When the springhouse was consigned to history late in season 3 it was in my view a sad end, to a chapter of FC. All the main characters were outside as it engulfed in flames, with nun Julia trapped inside or so we thought. It was important that Julia didn't die at this crossroads in the show, as emotionally charged as the whole thing was. There was much more to be explored with the character e.g. getting tangled up with the nazi treasure plot, reunited with Angela again, becoming a a nun for real and then the aftermath of the earthquake. All Lance and Melissa's uncle Frank could do was watch as Melissa passed away in the hospital, due to the mental breakdown and subsequent mansion fire. It was a 'down in the dumps' moment of seismic proportions.

The bomb in Richard's mansion as he and Maggie locked lips was a shocking 'Who Done It?' but then turned into an anticlimax, with the jump in time to season 5. Anna's revenge on Angela was a somewhat cartoon villain scenario, while the curtain fall on the Gioberti castle smacked of cheapness notwithstanding the humour, among the debris. However taking everything into consideration the springhouse fire was probably the pick of the bunch. Everyone acted so well and the script was particularly good.

The Gioberti castle is about to vanish, into FALCON CREST history. Prior to this Richard does what he never thought he would have to do, save Angela, (a scene from season 7, 1987 - '88):

Angela to Richard, as he picks her up out of the rubble: "Oh Lord! I've died and gone to hell."

Richard speaks to a paramedic: "She's fine!"

Richard then goes outside to Maggie and Fred Wilkinson (D.A.).

Richard: "What are you doing here Wilkinson?"

Fred: "Well it is not every day a house blows up in my valley. This is the second time for you Channing. You think it might be blamed on your explosive reputation."

Richard: "Why don't you save your comedy routine for the gas inspector. He's inside."

Fred: "Looking for what, gas leaks? He won't find any. When a house blows up with both Angela and Richard Channing inside it can't be blamed on excess gas."

Maggie: "Mr. Wilkinson my house is in pieces. I'm not in the mood for jokes."

The alleged gas inspector joins them, after finishing his inspection.

Fred: "Here. Here. I'm Wilkinson from the D.A.'s office. What did you find? Any evidence of anything?"

Alleged gas inspector: "Gas leak. No question. This pipe is part of the main line."

Fred: "I'll hang onto that. If you don't mind."

The alleged gas inspector provides his report of the explosion.

Richard glances at Fred: "There goes that Dick Tracey merit badge."

In terms of execution I suppose the springhouse fire is supreme, combined with the one to one between Julia and Angela. Gee what if going down with the springhouse really had been the end, for the nun with the gun on the run.

Haha. There was only one Pamela for me, the delightful Sarah Douglas. The worst of the fires really was when the Gioberti home exploded. I thought the doll house replica was naff.

Good on ya Will. I don't participate in the battles due to my lack of knowledge, about anything other than FC.

    1) The springhouse fire because at the time it was Julia's exit.
    2) Melissa burning Angela's mansion and then dying.
    3) Richard and Maggie kiss, as the hall clock is set. The bomb goes off.

The Gioberti house was destroyed to erase all signs of Robert Foxworth after he departed the cast.
