    1. Hemmingway – Garou
This one's new to me, and I LOVE it (which means I have to have it)

    2. Stayin’ Alive – Bee Gees
I always associate this song with that vintage videoclip, rather than the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.

    3. Strength Of A Woman – Carpenters
I like a lot of the 70s soft-rock and easy listening music, and sometimes I think I should like Carpenters more than I do.
Perhaps they sound a bit too soft for my taste. Either way, I was impressed with this song and it's so much better than the original and it sounds as if it were written by the Bee Gees - but it's not.

    4. Tous les blues sont écrits pour toi - Celine Dion
I don't listen to her music very often, but when I do I'm usually completely blown away by her amazing talent. This song also has a lot of variation.

    5. Do You Know Where You Going To - Diana Ross
I agree with you, it's one of her most beautiful songs.

    6. MacArthur Park (long version) - Donna Summer
Of course I couldn't resist this powerful disco suite.

    7. Desperado – Eagles
Because it's such a lush yet fragile ballad.

    8. Step Back In Time – Kylie Minogue
A true Kylie cracker, and it's been a long time since I've listened to this song. Ta!

    9. Material Girl – Madonna
The reference to MM is obvious, but it's also a quintessential, 80s yuppie song.
As Abby Ewing said it: "if I had to choose between love and money, money would win".

    10. Can’t Help Falling In Love With You – Elvis Presley
Because when he sings it it almost sounds religious.

Thanks for your choices, @Payton Cross. I knew I could rely on you to include some of my own favourites. There were also some lovely new discoveries in there for me.

My top five choices are new discoveries, while the other five are made up of long time favourites.

    1. Lonely Alone
    - Reba McEntire
I've bought a few Reba albums this year and I'm loving her material. This is one that I hadn't heard before and I found it a very powerful song. Poignant lyrics, gorgeously sung. Perfection.

    2. Boats Against The Current - Olivia Newton-John
Well, I suppose this has got lost in the tide, coming along the same year as ONJ's appearance in Grease. Somehow this has passed me by until now... but it was worth waiting forty years for. Already it's one of my favourite vocals of Olivia's.

    3. I Can’t Make You Love Me - Bonnie Raitt
OK - this is quite familiar. I knew Bonnie's name immediately (why, I'm not sure) and the song name rang a bell. I was expecting to know this one, but I don't think I did. Though it's possible. Either way, it's a lovely song.

    4. Hemmingway
    - Garou
Garou is the only artist here who is definitely completely new to me, which is exciting in itself. He has a great voice and the sound of the track is nice too.

    5. Toutes les peines
    - Patrick Fiori
I know Patrick from his work on Tina Arena's French albums as a writer and his cover of Out Here On My Own on which he duetted with Tina. This is the first time I've taken the time to hear Patrick sing in his mother tongue, and he sounds great.

    6. I’ve Got The Music In Me - The Kiki Dee Band
Love how soulful this one is. No wonder it's been covered by some of the best soul singers in the world. I'd forgotten that Kiki did it first, so thanks for the reminder.

    7. If Love Must Go
    - Lisa Hartman
This is a favourite Lisa track for me. Wonderfully sung with a brilliant arrangement and the association of some dramatic TV moments. What more could I ask of a song.

    8. MacArthur Park - Donna Summer
One of my favourite songs from one of my favourite singers. MacArthur Park is one of my earliest musical memories. I can still remember where I was when I first heard it, and my life was never the same again. When I heard that long, glassy high note at the end of the first verse I was rooted to the spot, staring at the radio. The look on my face probably resembled Manila Luzon.

    9. Theme from Mahogany (Do You Know Where You’re Going To) - Diana Ross
Sweet, beautiful and reflective. It's a while since I've heard Diana's original version, and I was glad of the opportunity here.

    10. Broken Hearted Me - Anne Murray
Anne brings much emotion to every song she sings. This one is almost too beautiful.

Seems like we have similar taste in music @Payton Cross :)

This are my ten favorites of your favorites:

    1. The Winner Takes It All – Abba
I love this song and I love singing karaoke to it too for some reason. There's something so bittersweet about it and heartbreaking and beautiful.

    2. If Love Must Go – Lisa Hartman
I'm rewatching Knots Landing right now so I listen to a lot of Lisa Hartman at the moment and this has always been my favorite of her songs too.

    3. Material Girl – Madonna
I love me some Madonna and I think I used this song many years ago to make a Cordy video.

    4. Can’t Help Falling In Love With You – Elvis Presley
This has always been a favorite of mine as well.

    5. The Way We Were – Barbra Streisand
I used this one for an Elizabeth & Richard video some years ago...

    6. Broken Hearted Me – Anne Murray
A new discovery for me that I immediately took a liking to!

    7. Boats Against The Current – Olivia Newton-John
A more unusual tune but I love this one too. I have it on an LP that I bought second hand and then recorded to a cassette tape...

    8. Step Back In Time – Kylie Minogue
I like classic Kylie. There's such a late 80's early 90's vibe to which I love.

    9. Lonely Alone – Reba McEntire

I used this song for a JR/SE video many years ago...

    10. Tous les blues sont écrits pour toi - Celine Dion
Not my favorite Celine song by far but I just had to put it on my list as Celine is awesome! :)

I haven't heard Do You Know Where You Going To in ages. Just because of that, I put it at number 1, over my actual favorite, which is Desperado.
