… and not even a mention of FALCON CREST.
I saw this once, years ago on TV! In fact, I believe my mom watched it with me, though she never watched any of these shows. She knew *of* them, but she never had the time or interest.
But hang on, Larry Hagman and Joan Collins dated?! And they never did a DALLAS/DYNASTY crossover?! The ever lovin' F***?!
In the late-'80s, Larry admitted that he and Joan both wanted JR and Alexis to cross over and have an affair on each others' show, "but our producers would never go for it."
I remember watching this when it was on PBS and yes, I also was puzzled by why they never mentioned Falcon Crest. Even if for some odd reason they could not get clip clearance, they could still have spoken of it without the visuals. They seem to have been really good at research in this series, so it's not a simple oversight.
Then they, the producers, were idiots. They could have made a big crossover movie out of it. That way it wouldn't really disrupt either show's flow. It could have been a giant extravaganza.
The logistics might have been a nightmare but imagine if they had arranged a two-parter with one episode airing on CBS and the other on ABC. I think it would have been a ratings blockbuster for them both.
It was funny to watch Sammy Jo reading a magazine that covered a DALLAS article, but cross-overs to a different universe (Ewings vs. Carringtons) takes the gimmick too far imho.
It feels like "anything goes", almost like breaking the fourth wall.
Maybe they could have done a huge crossover event instead of the reunions. There seems to be an overall consensus that the various reunions were subpar and (perhaps) non-canon, so why not push the boat out?
Im very glad that they didnt do a Dallas crossover. I would have cried if Joan C appeared in Dallas.
Especially if she played Miss Ellie!
