Discussion in 'Game of Thrones on HBO' started by tommie, Jun 9, 2018.
While I'm excited about more of this, I'm going to wait until the daddy show is complete before talking on anything new.
Not to worry, the prequel won't begin until GoT has ended.
Prequel gets a title & first cast member! George RR Martin tweeted:
“Casting is now underway for THE LONG NIGHT, the first of the GAME OF THRONES successor series to ordered to film,” he tweeted. “HBO has just announced the first cast member: NAOMI WATTS is coming on board as one of our stars.”
The network released a description: “Taking place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: From the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East, to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.”
Josh Whitehouse has also been cast as one of the leads.
I truly love it when the creators of a fictional world make such a statement: "You thought you knew all about it because we told you everything, but now it turns out we ware hiding and twisting things and you now somehow have to trust us not to pull your leg again."
The creators of GoT are not creating the new series. Different ones. But George RR Martin is involved, so they will need his approval and inputs.
Also, the creators of the new series may base the prequel on stories written by George RR Martin that takes place before GoT begun. The author has written popular stories about Aegon "Egg" Targaryen.
I think the new series will stay loyal to the original. And I find it interesting to learn more. GoT present time still send handwritten notes with ravens. There is no way that any of them know what really happened during The Long Night. Just like we don't know what really happened during the time of Jesus.
I also think the new series will be good--I just find the hype ridiculous and, given the GoT material demand, unnecessary.
Why? GoT is the biggest and most successful series of all times. The hype is expected to be HUGE.
More actors have been announced:
Naomi Ackie (Lady MacBeth, Yardie)
Denise Gough (People, Places and Things, Colette)
Jamie Campbell Bower (The Twilight Saga, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones)
Sheila Atim (Girl From the North Country, Harlots)
Ivanno Jeremiah (Humans, Doctor Who)
Georgie Henley (Narnia franchise, The Spanish Princess)
Alex Sharp (How To Talk To Girls At Parties, To The Bone)
Toby Regbo (Reign, The Last Kingdom)
...are all set as series regulars, joining previously cast Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse.
