That bugs me too! And invariably, if I step to one side to allow this person to pass, THEY act like I insulted them or something.

If I were to suddenly stop and make them run into the back of me, would that be preferable? If we were in cars, they'd be headed to court for following too close.

I've decided I really really hate You Tube ads and pop ups. I play the Sims Freeplay game and dear God the pop ups are enough to have me committed.

This brings me too how close people parks their cars to mine. I park as far away as possible in a parking lot. There are tons of spaces so that people don't have to park near me. But there is always that one car that is so close to me they almost take my mirror off. Do they do this on purpose because I like to keep my vehicles nice?

Oh Willie I don't find that guy attractive at all. :p

I hate pop ups too. I have 2 casino games on my Kindle and there are so many pop ups I want to throw it out the window at times.

Sarah you don't have ABP (AdBlockPlus) installed into your browser? On a recent visit to a relatives house I was astonished how she was tolerating all those annoying ads. So I installed ABP for her.

Here in Oz we've had horrific fires for a few weeks - and still going - and people have fled their properties. To add to their stress we're hearing looters are taking the opportunity to help themselves. There is an argument for bringing something like this back....

    Mother Nature.
Give us a break already. Right now Australia is a bloody tinder box and the worst case scenario happened yesterday on New Years Eve. Humans are losing their lives. The following image sourced from; https://twitter.com/hashtag/Sentinel2?src=hash shows the catastrophic conditions experienced here in my state of New South Wales. This region is south of Sydney for those unfamiliar with my country.
    Fire.jpg

And to give you an idea of the magnitude of these fires the following image will put it into perspective. That blue outline on the right of the image is the South Island of New Zealand. That brown ugliness stemming from the east coast of Australia is smoke.

I have been watching this on the news Rove......how close are you? This is a horrible thing going on in Australia and I feel for your country.

Some of the things happening is just unheard of and horrific

Nearly half a billion animals are believed to be dead in the bushfires still spreading across Australia.
Ecologists at the University of Sydney told News.com.au that an estimated 480 million mammals, birds, and reptiles have died in the bushfires, which have been burning across Australia since September. Eight thousand of the animals deaths are believed to be koalas, The Independent reported.

As of Thursday morning, more than 130 fires were burning in New South Wales and Victoria. The fires have razed more than 9.9 million acres across five states. At least 18 people have died as a result of the bushfires. Some 1,400 homes have been destroyed.

Animals living in the regions include koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, possums, wombats, and echidnas.

Tracy Burgess, a volunteer at Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Services, told Reuters that rescuers aren't receiving as many animal patients as expected, which is cause for concern.

"Our concern is that they don't come into care because they're not there anymore, basically," she said.

I have been watching this on CNN.Com and on my nightly news.

I did read that some celebrities including Pink, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have all given 500,000 to help.

Thankfully the district in which I live has escaped...so far. The area though is so tinder dry the place could just explode. Last Saturday (4th January) compounded our current situation when in some parts it reached 47.1 °C (116.78 °F).

For my American friends this image is currently doing the social media rounds.

I've been informed this is to scale. The fire symbols are not an illustration to how big the fires are, just their location.

It's since been clarified that the locations are where there are or have been fires in this extremely early start to the season. They have not all been burning at once.

I've been somewhat astonished by the repeated calls for visitors to stay out of the areas involved and to remain inside out of the smoke as much as possible. I would have thought that those things would be people's natural inclinations but apparently not so.

I hate it when fictional stories (novels) are written from the "I" perspective, as if it was written by the fictional character itself.

A similar thing happens around here in hurricane season. A storm goes through and knocks down power lines, blows tree branches and debris into the streets, and takes off roofs, etc. The first responders, power companies and police have to BEG the locals not to go out driving/exploring. Those officials are out trying to get power back up and pull hurt people/pets etc. out of wreckage--you know, 911-type emergencies. They don't have time or patience for "saving" looky-loos who go out and get stranded on washed-out roads or drive onto naily boards, etc. and flatten all their tires. It's like they all want to invent more work for the people already overworked and exhausted trying to get things back to normal.

Maybe they don't want to get sued for neglect when something goes wrong?
"They didn't literally tell me it was dangerous to push my husband into the erupting volcano! Now where's my 10 million, huh, huh?"

Totally agree. What normally takes me 20 to 25 minutes to drive home from work took nearly 2 hours on Thursday and Friday, just gone. Why? Because people have clearly forgotten the basics when driving in the wet. That is, leave plenty of room between yourself and the car in front of you. On both days drivers had forgotten this simple rule and have run up the back of each other. The knock on effect placed the entire district into gridlock.

I'd like to see a new rule introduced where the driver at fault has to attend a compulsory driving school and resit the theory test.

Regarding driving, I hate when peoole don't put on their turn signal before they turn. Is that so hard to do? I see it all the time where I live.

That goes back to what I said earlier about unhelpful advice. Simply repeating the words "drive to the conditions" like a mantra does nothing.
