If you were to put the seasons in order of best to worst - how would you rank them?
1) Season 2
2) Season 3
3) Season 1
4) Season 4
5) Season 6
6) Season 7
7) Season 5
8) Season 8
9) Season 9
Angela and Jacqueline each exchange a few home truths. Each rival thinks they have won but it is Jacqueline who departs the valley, for now. Angela appears from the living room of the mansion, after Jacqueline's visit and looks at Chao-Li, standing in the hallway, (a scene from season 2, 1982-'83):
"Chao-Li I want you to chill our finest bottle of Chardonnay. It's time we celebrate!"
Chao-Li smiles, as he goes to fetch the wine.
The same as Jock Og, but I would switch seasons 7 and 5 (because R.F. is still in it)
Same as Jock Og -- although I don't think I ever saw all of Season 9 (and some say the writing was actually pretty good).
I, too, thought S5 was a drab mess and rate it lowly; Season 8 tried to have the show go straight once again, but they no longer knew how.
It wasn't great but I think it was more daring and imaginative than the previous seasons. But the complete make-over was too much to digest at that time.
Seasons 7 and 8 wasn't great soap, but if you watch it when you're still in that "superfan"-mode you can still recognize some of the things that you used to love about FC.
In season 9 they removed all these straws to clutch at, which was actually a good thing, it just didn't feel that way.
S7 was too silly; S8 was too dour.
And S9 was too different.
It’s been years since I last watched, but I’m re-watching now having just finished the first two. I’m going to give my ranking off memory and we will see if it changes!
I know it may seem odd to put season 1 so low, but rewatching it felt so slow. The first episode and last few were excellent, but the self contained format didn’t work for me here. I feel the cast and setting is too limited to make that work and it put me to sleep.
Overall I do feel the show can be a bit plot driven, especially in seasons 2 and 3. The supporting characters are rarely well drawn, but Falcon Crest is just so enjoyable for some reason. I hope season 4 is as fun as I remember it.
A good sum up, of those later seasons. Ninjas, Foster Glenn (7th season), the snooze fest Ortegas, thank goodness for Assumpta Serna, Ana Alicia coming back (8th season) and then there was Charley (9th season). Where as all Angela's grapes gone to? Wasn't Mark Lindsay Chapman (Charley) in the Titanic movie?
The Garbage Years (Unaired Pilot)
Really, Bobby'sTwinBrother --- you thought S5 was the best??
