    Looking at each season on a scale of 1-4 stars (not counting TNT version) what does everyone think?

    Mini Series - ***1/2
    Season 1 - ***1/2
    Season 2 - ****
    Season 3 - ***
    Season 4 - ***1/2
    Season 5 - ****
    Season 6 - ***1/2
    Season 7 - ***1/2
    Season 8 - ***
    Season 9 - **
    Season 10 - ***
    Season 11 - **1/2
    Season 12 - **1/2
    Season 13 - **
    Season 14 - *1/2

    JR Returns - ***
    War of Ewing's - *

    Recently rewatching the entire series, a few things really stuck out.

    Season 2 is unbelievable from start to finish. Season 5 may have it beat though. Both of these seasons are perfectly scripted. The storylines are real, genuine and exciting.

    All the other Early Seasons were strong, although Season 3 had some boring characters such as Alex Ward and Clint which really dragged down the season in some ways. Seasom 8 may have had best episode in the series but the boring Naldo Storyline, Pam's trip to Japan and dealing with Donna Reed all season keep it from being special.

    Ranking the Seasons in terms of enjoyment

    Season 5
    Season 2
    Season 4
    Season 1
    Mini Series
    Season 3
    Season 10
    Season 8
    Season 11
    Season 12
    Season 13
    Season 9
    Season 14

    Mini Series 10/10 - it couldn't really be anything else as it set the whole thing up so well.

    1 & 2 - 6/10 - Some fantastic episodes but the golden formula was yet to come.

    3-5 - 10/10 - the real Golden Era of the show.

    6-8 - 7/10 -The introduction of Jenna/Charlie/Peter really mark these seasons down for me, but some great drama and still must watch TV.

    9 - 5/10 - Dream Season, really didn't like Angelica/Jamie/Jack - the show was off the boil.

    10-11 - 7/10 - some great plots but the show was losing big characters left right and centre and the slippery slope was well and truly on it's way.

    12-13 - 4/10 - I watched till the bitter end, but didn't care anymore, the show was a shadow of it's former self.

    J.R RETURNS - 7/10 - Great to see them back, but nothing really special.

    WAR OF THE EWINGS - 4/10 - just poor.

    TNT 1 - 7/10 - A great attempt at a revamp, but let down by Southfork interior, easy to get mysteries and the big change to Bobby & Cliff's characters - and no where enough Sue Ellen.

    TNT 2 & 3 - 4/10 - Poor writing, poor characters, poor plots, stupid drug cartels, stupid & irritating Emma - it was a very sad end for what was such a mighty show.

    But can we count the mini-series as "the mini-series" and still have 14 seasons???

    Going by the DVD count (S1 thru S14):

    **** Seasons 3, 6, 7 and 10

    acceptable: 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 11

    problematic: 9, 12, 13, 14

    The season numbering is definitely confusing. I posted a thread last year where I asked people to vote for their favorite seasons and well people kept voting for the wrong seasons as there were confusion about if it was original numbering or DVD numbering. :confuse:

    http://www.soapchat.net/index.php?threads/which-is-your-favorite-season.120/

    Also even in this thread people are ranking the seasons differently even though the original poster asked us to use 1-4 stars while ranking them. Personally I would have done 1-5 stars. But oh well...I'll give it a try.

    Mini-series: :ping::ping::ping::ping: = Four stars (full score)

    Season One: :ping::ping::ping::ping:= Four Stars

    Season Two::ping::ping::ping::ping:= Four Stars

    Season Three::ping::ping::ping::ping:= Four Stars

    Season Four::ping::ping::ping::ping:= Four Stars

    Season Five: :ping::ping::ping::ping:= Four Stars

    Season Six::ping::ping::ping::ping:= Four Stars

    Season Seven::ping::ping::ping:= Three Stars

    Season Eight::ping::ping::ping:= Three Stars

    Season Nine::ping::ping::ping::ping: = Four Stars

    Season Ten: :ping::ping::ping:= Three Stars

    Season Eleven: :ping::ping::ping:= Three Stars

    Season Twelve::ping::ping:= Two Stars

    Season Thirteen::ping:= One Star

    JR Returns::ping::ping::ping::ping:= Four stars

    War of the Ewings::ping: = One star

    Pam's trip to Japan? Surely you meant Hong Kong! Lol!

    As for the rankings: (Going by dvd numbers, sorry). season 1/miniseries- 4 stars, season 2- 4 stars, season 3- 4 and a half stars, season 4- 4 stars, season 5- 4 and a half stars, season 6- 4 and a half stars, season 7- 4 and a half stars, season 8- 2 and a half stars, season 9 (dream season)- 3 stars, season ten- 2 and a half stars, season 11- two stars (but really only because of Katherine's short appearance), season 12- no stars, season 13- no stars, season 14- no stars and a bomb, movies- never seen 'em, but from I read about them, probably no stars.

    The last golden season was Season 09 (or 10, however it's numbered as the dream is over and the main Ewings are all back, sadly for only about the next 22 or so episodes, then Pam leaves and the show is over).

    BTW, I really liked Jamie. When you dismiss the dream season, she wasn't around all that long. She was great when she was strong, but not as Cliff's whipping post.

    The change in Cliff Barnes and his relationship with Jamie from Season 9 to Season 10 DVD, was astonishing. From being nicer than he'd been in years and genuinely loving Jamie, to then being more annoying than he had ever been in Dallas ever and treating Jamie and everyone else like rubbish.

    What was the DVD season where Cliff tried to sell out Pam and Jamie found out about it at The Oil Barons' Ball? Jamie told Pam that Wendell was going to put Cliff in charge of Ewing Oil if Cliff convinced Pam to sell Christopher's shares of Ewing Oil to Wendell. As usual Pam said no, Cliff wouldn't do that to me when confronted with the truth about her brother. I think it was season 9. Pam never found the strength to accept the truth about her brother. She kept lying to herself that Cliff wouldn't do anything bad to her. At least in season 10 she found the strength to put her needs above Cliff's desires and stopped working as his financier so that she could live the kind of life she wanted. Maybe that's why she left after season 10. She may have felt the character finally accomplished what she wanted by marrying Bobby again and stopped letting Cliff take advantage of her by using her for her money and having her work in a business she never wanted to be in.

    That was early in Season 9 DVD, causing Jamie to smash cake in Cliff's face and leave Cliff for a while, but then Cliff went to Jamie and said that he loved her. Then Jamie nearly died after being crushed by those tank drums and needing the more rare AB negative blood with the correct antigens. Cliff may have initially married Jamie late in Season 8 DVD in an attempt to control two thirds of Ewing Oil had they won the court case, but Cliff loved Jamie in Season 9 DVD. Fast forward to the next season, after the dream, and Cliff is at his most unbearable, with no subtlety whatsoever, and he never loved Jamie. He wanted Jamie to get an annulment out of their marriage, and was absolutely set on wanting her to take that course.

    Cliff was nicer, despite the Ewing Oil obsession. Pam didn't sell at that time and instead went to work at Ewing Oil, alongside J.R.

    No wonder, as he was so unbearable. There's no way that she could convince herself differently that season. I'm amazed that she even gave him $2 million of her own money to save his deal with Jordan Lee, considering his attitude. And Cliff went after April solely because he overheard Jack telling Jamie that April had negotiated rights to 50% of Jack's future income for 5 years after their final divorce decree, meaning that April had legal rights to 5% of Ewing Oil.

    Absolutely. Cliff was completely different with Jamie in seasons 9 and 10. In 9 it seemed he grew to love her but in 10 it was basically the opposite situation; he didn't grow to love her at all. A lot of season 10 is a complete opposite of what happened in season 9 like Ray and Donna reconciling in 9 but failing to in 10. One thing that remained constant in seasons 9 and 10 was JR and Mandy breaking up in both seasons. I would have preferred he stayed with her in season 10 because she would have been a much more suitable wife for him than Cally.

    I remember that deal. Cliff had given Wendell his share of Wentworth Tool and Die as collateral in exchange for a loan and when he couldn't repay the loan Wendell charged Pam a huge amount to keep it. This was strange because Cliff had already sold it to Katherine. They never explained how he got it back from her did they? I think the writers just forgot they had written that storyline where he sold it to Katherine.

    Which episode are you talking about here with Cliff using Wentworth Tool and Die as collateral in exchange for a loan from Jeremy Wendell?

    Season 86-87 episode 16 "Tick, Tock" about halfway in episode Cliff asks 6 million loan and Jeremy Wendell wants Cliff's 30% of Wentworth Tool and Die as collateral.
