Description: "Fallon ponders shaking things up with her company when Dominique presents her with a business proposition; Blake and Cristal focus on the trial; Kirby focuses on finding a man for Sam; Liam asks Fallon for a favor; Jeff keeps a close watch on Blake."

    HER company?!

I'm guessing Fallon will be back at Femperial in one way or another, since poor Kirby needs a CEO to run the place.

Perhaps this "business proposition" of Dom's explains the artwork in the background of this photo, which is quite intriguing...

Monica wants to know what Evan is to Fallon. Fallon says work means more to her now, and she's going to revamp one of her other businesses as a magazine (wait for it) Fallon Unlimited. Fallon and Monica also want to revive the record label they wanted to start, and Dominique suggests Vanessa be on that label.

Kirby doesn't seem to have enough chaos in her life, so she says she wants to find Sam a man. He seems uninterested, since he's busy taking care of hotel details like ketchup orders and stuff that he ought to have employees for.

Evan suggests Fallon coming over to dinner with mom. She foolishly accepts.
Liam then arrives at Fallon's offices to say Ashley was telling him things about "him and Ashley" that he now recalls were actually about him and Fallon. He dumped Ashley, and wants to have dinner with Fallon to see if he can remember more. She's actually kind of mad at him for five seconds, but agrees despite being double-booked for dinner at the Tates'.

Nadia says to Adam "I know you" a bit too emphatically, but makes it sound that she has the same kind of trust issues he has.

For some reason the paparazzi are following Michael, and when he "meets nice" with Vanessa, they have a semi-comic sequence where they evade the paps. But why? Because Dominique hired them to, that's why, and Vanessa ruined it. Dom is hovering and condescending as if Vanessa is ten years old. Why wasn't she this concerned about Jeff and Monica?

Evan pretends to be okay when Fallon cancels, but when he leaves the office, he breaks something in frustration. Later at home, Monica is there to point out that Fallon is still hooked on Liam despite Fallon's protests to the contrary, and Nadia is there to eavesdrop and report all the info back to Adam. Adam tells Nadia he fears C3 is trying to cut him out of the will, and they start snooping around.

Watch as Fallon tears up all the bread in sight. She says it's too much and leaves Liam at the restaurant. Evan pops up and gets all territorial, telling Liam to leave her alone or he (Evan) might hurt him (Liam). I hope Evan doesn't own any flower pots.

Blake needs to meet with someone off the manor, so he and C3 manage to transfer his ankle monitor onto her ankle. Jeff is at home, having placed some kind of bug that tells him when the monitor's frequency has been interrupted...so he knows Blake is up to something. He visits the manor and notes C3's flowing slacks. He then sets up a social media "treasure hunt" to spot the car Blake took from the manor--Adam's. Busted! Blake has to flee the scene.

A motivational speaker Joel is at the hotel and Kirby seems to think he's a good man for Sam. Hey, Kirbs, ya think maybe Sam's still hung up on his ex? Did you even ask? Joel asks Kirby to go to Savannah for a "meditative retreat" and she tries to get Sam to go along...but he passes.

Dominique tries to shoo Michael away from Vanessa, and Dom reveals a little too much about how long she's known Vanessa. He figures out Vanessa is Dom's stepdaughter.

Fallon "premieres" her new lifestyle magazine, Fallon Unlimited (that spoiler photo in my post above) at Club Colby with Evan at her side as her combo date/legal counsel. It's like Gwyneth Paltrow's site, only less pretentious! Liam arrives to put her on the spot--and regale everyone with all kinds of trivia about Fallon. He remembers!

Nadia claims she got into the safe and saw the will, which has C3 as the sole heir...but she will be happy to help him fix things. Nah, too easy. She makes her move on Adam and they kiss. On one hand she's taking advantage of him, but given the heinous things he's done over the past year I'm more concerned for HER than him.

Now we learn that the jury for Blake's trial will be sequestered at La Mirage, but Jeff lets Blake and C3 know he knows what they're doing, and will be watching like a hawk.

Evan says he's quitting as Fallon's lawyer and wishes her and Liam well, but before he leaves the office, he snatches a handful of hair out of her nearby hair brush. Uh-oh....

Daniel can I get your thoughts on the overall feel of Season 3 so far as opposed to the shambolic mess that was season 2. Is there a calmness to this season? Is new Dynasty still being presented with that nudge nudge wink wink attitude? Do you feel as though Josh Reims influence is being presented and if so, is it positive? Remember I won't be seeing this season until June next year so I'd like someones personal opinion.

I am enjoying your recaps...keep up the good work.

Hmm, I guess they might actually be building up business storylines here with Fallon and Kirby running their respective media companies. Although, with the current media climate, who would think it would be a good venture to start a magazine?

Montage time with Vanessa and Michael running away from the paps! I'll admit, it was kind of cute and a fast way of building their relationship.

Poor Evan. And oops, he seems to have some anger issues, then again that means he and Fallon might be a perfect fit...

Ooof, Nadia is acting like Adam's little spy. And of course they arranges with Mr Anger Problems to see Fallon and Liam together. Fallon runs off and Evan runs in to threaten Liam behind her back - oops, he seems a bit unhinged...

Jeff is spying obsessively spying on Blake and trying to get him back in jail.

Dominique is NOT happy about Vanessa actually caring about Michael and just wanted them together for the publicity. Dominique is more and more turning into the mother from hell.

Cult like pep talk guy. Have I heard this before, hmmm! @Snarky's Ghost

Ah, good way to save costs to have Blake set up the jury to stay at La Mirage. So budget conscious!

"So I'm Jussie Smollett now?" - ouch.

I was honestly unsure if the Fallon / Liam scene was real or not. Poor Evan!

I guess we find out the deal with Dominique's background - she was married, her husband left her and she continued to raise Vanessa as Michael figures it out. I guess he has the brain in the room this episode.

Uh oh... Adam finds out that Cristal is the sole heir to the Carrington fortune per his will... or at least that's what Nadia claims.

Jeff comes in and tells Blake that his jury plan is dead. You in danger girl.

So nice of Evan to be under--uh, why did he grab that hair from Fallon's hairbrush?

This season seems to be “back on track”. Much better than season 2, which I can only put down to Josh Reims. I just hope he does Alexis right, once Elaine Hendrix starts.

I like how they're pushing the step/stage mother from hell angle with Dominique / Vanessa - it sets her nicely apart from Alexis when the time comes to re-introduce her.

Ehhh, I thought S2 was just very uneven--some great parts mixed into some terrible parts. S3 feels much improved not only because they've cut out the more ridiculous divergences (stories that go nowhere, scenes that felt like filler) and embraced the serial format that the show should always have been using. The scenes all 'go somewhere' (that is, have consequences to the plotlines) and push the stories along. But there is also much more attention to proper pacing of the plots. It took six episodes for Liam to get his memory back, which to me feels about right for a stock plot like that. Though the season started with Blake and Fallon both in legal trouble, they wisely dismissed one of the plots (Fallon's) quickly, then wrote Blake's storyline as more of an umbrella plot that will unfold over the first half of the season (at least). Longtime soap fans know to be patient, because the best payoffs, plot-wise, occur when they've had time to properly unfold, and it seems they've set up a season of plots and plan to let it all unfold at a proper pace rather than tossing in twists at random. NS's unexpected departure may have thrown a wrench into the planned S2 stories and pace of them, so let's hope they don't have to do anything like that again this season.

I get the feeling that Josh Reims recognized the drawbacks of trying to be a dramedy, but doesn't embrace the idea of doing a straight drama, either. The musical episode gave them a chance to write funny stuff while "sequestering" the behavior in dream/hallucination sequences rather than having Fallon walking around being the Quip Machine she was in S2. There are a lot less quippy moments and eye rolling, but not so much that the characters seem to have lost their sense of humor overnight. Fallon's dialogue is still sharp but it just seems less...I dunno, less harsh? It helps that she hasn't been interacting with Adam very much, and Sam's new hotel has brought out the more serious side of his character. Maybe it's just that Reims gave the characters valid "things to do" and they don't have free time to sit around trading bon mots.

BTW, I decided to do synopses this year rather than commentary because I know a lot of people aren't seeing the episodes immediately as they did last year. I'd be losing my marbles if I had to wait until May.

I guess his knowing he's terminally ill has caused him to put his revenge plans into high gear because time might be running out. And since Jeff's back in Blake's face, I guess Dominique should expect her checks from Blake to dry up.

I'm pretty sure you've talked about cults being present in the original Dynasty.

As I said before - I do think that partly NS leaving caused their plans to go south, but also that I believe they were still writing with the hope that viewers would be able to "jump in" if they had episodic plots. Clearly, that didn't work and they've given up such pretense now.

They've definitively calmed down the "Mean Girl"-ness of Fallon a lot so far, and are trying to add some more layers to her characters rather than the non-stop quipping talk-machine she was.

I still assume Dominique will try to force Jeff and Vanessa to marry... only he marries Alexis instead?[/QUOTE]

I enjoyed the episode (thanks @Matthew Blaisdel). It's more focused, less clownesque, and yes, the pacing is good. Some good lines too

With new Dynasty I can take it or leave it. But I believe the decision to delay screening it on Netflix may hurt the series, for The CW, Netflix and the fans. With few eyeballs watching it on The CW it could be the impetus to cancel it. Netflix may also see decreased numbers when it finally comes around in May/June 2020 as die hard fans found other means of watching new episodes. It also hurts Soapchat because less people are visiting this thread.

I can't agree more. I don't know the truth, I am not an expert. But I also raised those points, and I don't see how this decision can be good for Dynasty.

    Mortal sin.

To be fair, this just doesn't affect Dynasty, but seems to be for all their shows that aren't The Flash or Riverdale.

Yeah, it seems like Michael suffered from "male soap brain" in like the previous 20 or so episodes, but he finally seems to have woken up. Maybe it's temporary.

Lol. Yes, it was the first time, in a very long one, that Michael didn't put me to sleep.

Now I really can't wait to see what's to come. Alexis, for me, will be a game changer if they got her right this time.
