The episode opens with everyone and their granny getting served with subpoenas to appear. The (female) DA offers Anders immunity to turn on Blake, which he...well, let's just say he turns down the offer.

Ooh, Adam's starting to get light-y flashes of vision at the breakfast table! He keeps it to himself, of course.
Liam is apparently staying in Fallon's room? I wonder if she takes him out for a walk occasionally.
Dominique wants to know where Jeff's been (he's been in Europe!), and he returns curiously forgiving of his mother for the whole Vanessa subterfuge. Or is he? (Monica remains reliably frosty, though).
The DA is apparently trying to have a "secret witness" inserted into the proceedings; Blake demands Anders find out who it is and "eliminate the problem".
Kirby's back from her 'retreat' with Joel, acting all moony over him. She has decided to remain close by to support Anders during this trial. No word about her publishing company needing her.
Nadia points out to Adam that he has become self-sufficient, so it's probably time for her to move on to another client who needs her. He responds by burning himself on the stove (when she leaves the room) to show he still needs her around.
C3 finds Fallon giving Nadia more money and...well, whatever they are doing, she wants in!!
In court, Michael does everything he can to discredit (and generally just diss) Blake in testimony. He says Mack was the type to do anything for the right money, including killing people for it---which is why he and Blake got on so well.
Dominique shows up at court and is angry that no one really wants her to be there. She's not even on the list to be allowed in the court room. My guess is that since she's not wearing leopard-print for once, maybe they just don't recognize her.
Fallon's turn on the stand is not helpful. "He's capable of murder, but just in a general way." Blake's lawyer then refers to Fallon's own brushes with the law (even referring to when she released Matthew and Celia's sex tape in season one!) and her being labeled a "rich, spoiled brat" in the press. This is to discredit her, but she doesn't seem to like it and throws a fit (and the judge's gavel) in front of everyone.

Fallon has tasked Liam with reporting on the trial for the magazine, but doesn't like that he's writing the truth. Has he learned NOTHING hanging around the Carringtons??

Anders is convinced that Kirby is working with the FBI as an informant (we're not sure how they arrived at this conclusion), and Blake wants her "dealt with"; Anders has to point out that Kirby is his daughter.
Monica can't take her mother's ish any more, so she's going to New York for a while. Jeff doesn't even get the chance to tell his sister about his new wife.
Fallon, Nadia, and C3 stage an "argument" within Adam's earshot (even a recording of Blake's voice was used) that sounds like C3 is beating the stew out of Nadia, and they're all bullying her into leaving town. He runs (okay, stumbles) into the wine cellar and breaks a bunch of wine bottles in anger. Nadia is given her official walking papers (in this case, papers with Ben Franklin's face on them). Later, Adam realizes his vision has completely returned.
Blake confronts Kirby; she's kind of shocked. Blake tells her to go back to Australia or..well, else. When Anders finds out, he re-considers the DA's offer to flip on Blake.
Someone breaks into Fallon Unlimited offices to delete something off the computer, then destroy it with a baseball bat. Only....it's only Fallon. I guess Liam's story won't get published after all. Oh, darn.....Blake: "Sometimes you're more me, than me." Fallon recoils at the thought.
Dominique decides to make a scene in court, calling the DA a 'skank' as a diversion when Anders hits the stand. Only, Anders claims Mack attacked him and Anders had to kill him in self-defense. The courtroom erupts! And since Anders signed an immunity deal, he can't be charged. The case is now falling apart.
Adam, still incensed that everyone in the family 'chased Nadia away,' heads to the vineyard that Blake supposedly loves so much. He douses the vines in gasoline and sets the place ablaze.
In the hallway outside the courtroom, Blake is all sweetness and light to Anders, saying he should bring Kirby back and even let her live at the manor.
Vanessa announces she's going to New York with Monica, which surprises Dominique but doesn't slow down Dom very much, since it's all about her.
Sam, wearing a ridiculous suit, gets Kirby to admit that her "guru" Joel is in trouble with the FBI, which is why Kirby had been talking to them.
Fallon and Liam figure out Adam can see when they go to the destroyed vineyard. He tries to play as if he still can't see, but Fallon shuts him down by throwing a ceramic pot at him and he flinches. The breaking pot makes Liam remember Adam hitting him with the flower pot, and Liam claims he can now remember "everything". After a scuffle, he and Adam are teetering on the brink of a second-story ledge in the barn as Fallon screams.

The DA, in her Hail Mary pass, calls her final witness to save the case. Jeff escorts a black-and-white clad woman to the stand, whom no one immediately recognizes until she recites her name: Alexis Carrington Colby. Luckily it is not that awful outfit we saw her wearing in that other picture. She looks GREAT!

My verdict on the Sensational Blake Carrington Trial is...it's everything I hoped for, and more!

Thanks for the recap @Avery Merry Christmas! This episode actually sounds mildly interesting. I quit watching weeks ago but I'm tempted to watch the scene with our New Alexis!

I couldn't wait so I watched it on a crappy quality image streaming site.
But... This episode was absolutely great!!! It had everything I love. It was season 1 finale quality to me and it felt so much like a season's finale, with cliffhangers.
And the new Alexis already feels so Alexis... Elaine is not a NS mimic. I mean she's not impersonating NS' Alexis. But I'm fine with it. She has to be her own Alexis, and I love, really love that this new Alexis has some Joan Collins' Alexis vibes.

Congrats for the recast. It wasn't an easy one. But Elaine proved she could play bitches, so I'm more than confident now. Congrats to the writer to.

OMG I can't wait... It's gonna be long but hey, at least I'm totally excited now.

Ooof, are they writing out Monica? I guess she's always been recurring.

"I guess your sister wasn't ready to meet your new wife" followed by "I KNEW IT, I KNEW IT!" Nice touch!

"Adam usually snaps in the craziest way possible... like putting my face on my mother"

LOL at Dominique scamming her way into the trial. Poor Sam.

Uh-oh... why do I get the feeling that breaking Adam's heart won't have the effect Fallon intended?

Anders admiting to killing Mac... I thought this would happen.

Oh Adam. He really has an obsession with fire doesn't he? That's what we call grapes of wrath I guess...

Fallon wants to become a better person... and wants to apologize to Adam. And finds out that the wineyard is on fire. Fallon confesses about Nadia and Adam pulls the "I'm already blind..." crap on her. Fallon calls him on it by throwing a pot, which triggers Liam's memory to return and Liam and Adam are almost about to fall off the stable...

FBI's been contacting Kirby... except it's been about Joel the Self-Help guy (another I knew it for me - those self-help seminars are cults). Who she's now going away with for a bit. Huhm.

    A final witness?

    State your name please?

    It's Alexis Carrington Colby.

    And yes:

Yes. It's clever writing. This episode was so good.

    Anyway, here's Alexis entrance :

    And episode 9 promo :

I am already in love with Elaine Hendrix's Alexis.

    Adam Huber, about Elaine :

... and then there's a new character which everyone already knows. Alexis Carrington is now played by Elaine Hendrix who was in Parent Trap and Sex & Drugs & Rock 'n Roll with Liz [Gillies]. She comes into the picture and so it's a lot of fun. I think we're in it for like, two or three episodes. There's not just one episode of the trial, it's like a two or three episode thing.
She's just so good at playing that character. She was so good in The Parent Trap, I've seen it so many times. It's so funny because she's so not that, she's so sweet. She's such a sweetheart, like in real life. She brings a new energy to it, she's excited to bring this character to life and to make it her own and not go off what Nicolette did or what the actors did on the original.

I think it's great that Elaine won't be impersonating NS's Alexis. I loved NS' Alexis in season 1, but the writers missed the point about her character, and season 2 Alexis was an agony. With Elaine, they have a chance to reboot the character right. So yes, let's Elaine make this iconic character her own. With the hope that this time, the writers will get Alexis right.

Anyway, I threw a look at twitter and the feedback for this episode is great. I am genuinely happy.

I think the desperate, money-hungry schemer role has been picked up by Dominique. I agree with you - hopefully that means they’ll get Alexis right this time (because they won’t have two characters pulling the same schtick).

You're right. Dominique is the greedy clownesque character season 2 NS's Alexis was.
Now that EH's Alexis is married to "He's going to expire!" Jeff, she can become the all powerful widow we know. At least I hope.

Ha. And in all honesty, I don't mind Dominique being a grifter since - let's be honest here - she wasn't exactly much of a character on the original show except to bail Blake out and having occasional spats with Alexis.

I really like the delivery in that little preview posted. She certainly feels more confident than NS's Alexis.

Great episode! I look forward to Elaine channeling the qualities of true Alexis. This nicely sets up future spats between Dominique and Alexis Carrington Colby, especially if Jeff does expire.

I agree. I don't mind either. I enjoy this Dominique - and her antics - so far. The last one, at the end of this episode, having her pointing C3 with her purse to the cam reporter, saying "she's the third wife", meaning C3 doesn't matter and is replaceable, was kind of fun.

Anyway, Nu Dominique is not OG Dominique at all, but I'm more than ok with this now (I wasn't at first). As you said, OG Dominique had little to no development unfortunately, and even Diahann Caroll wanted Dominique to be a bitch. Writers never let be that... OG Dominique was a lovable character, but after her mysterious introduction, her plot lines were not interesting unfortunately.

I really have more fun with this "hunger for fame and money" Dominique.

I really think the writers will portray this Alexis differently and now that Adam Huber has confirmed that Elaine wants to make Alexis her own, I feel pretty confident too.

I agree. Look at Dom's face when she realize that the secret witness is Alexis Carrington Colby. She gets why Alexis holds the last name, and Dom is not happy at all about it. She gets that Alexis will be on of Jeff's will, and mama Dom will be surely very crossed about it.

I'm sure this is just temporary. As the "voice of reason" in the Colby family, she'd hit the roof if she knew Jeff had gone off and married the woman that acted as a surrogate mother for them when Dom left them. She doesn't know Jeff is terminally ill, so she would not realize this is Jeff's way of keeping Dominique from stealing his (and Monica's) fortune from her after he dies. Maybe he's decided to give Alexis his fortune willingly (that is, Alexis isn't scamming him), but Monica would try to convince him that Alexis is not a nice person without ulterior motives. The writers would have to get Monica out of the way while Jeff and Alexis enact this semi-insane scheme, because she'd try to put a stop to it.

True, considering she took Vanessa with her I assume their abscense might just be for a few episodes and they might end up returning with (unpleasant) news for Dominique.

A lot of people tend to confuse liking Diahann Carroll with liking Dominique. Yes, great entrance, a fun little spat with Alexis... but there really wasn't more to her character than that in the original despite being well-remembered as a cast member. You could cut out 90% of original Dominique's material on Dynasty and it would make very little difference.

I finally LOVE this show! Every episode in this season was good but this one is the best. Dominique's three attempts to sit at the trial - fabulous and funny! Blake's talk with Kirby - surprisingly serious and WTF is he now badass too? The scene between Dominique and her step-daughter was touching. A barn and a fire? YES, IT'S DYNASTY and YES to Adam and Liam also managing to recreate original Season 9's Adam and Dex fight about who falls first! Alexis' first entrance - Elaine Hendrix rocks Alexis!! YES, this is her, commanding voice and posture! (and noted I'm writing 'first'? I always liked Nicolette Sheridan and if the writers would have given her this classic feeling debut she would have shined too.)

PS: I accept that this show needs to do a Gillieatheon clip every week so I just pretend the burglary in her own office scene does not exist. This could have been talked about without showing it - and THEN explain it to Liam, because his facial expressions to this story were in fact the funniest moment.

I don't want to hype this episode too much, because people will get disappointed.
But, yeah, that's the best episode of season 3, and one of the best episode of the show.
It was delicious, with a perfect balance of humour and serious plots.

Is it me, or Elaine Hendrix has a little something of Joan Collins Alexis's voice? And a little fun - maybe - fact : Elaine Hendrix is 48 yo. The age Joan Collins had when she owned Alexis in the original, I think. Maybe @The Holiday Whore can confirm?

Blake : "The surprise witness is Jeff Colby? Pfff... What a Joke"
Judge : "Please state your name for the court"
Alexis3 : "Of course. It's Alexis Carrington Colby"

The joke is on you Blake :D

Eh, I think you might be half right. Monica will come back, but I got the impression that might be the last we see/hear from Vanessa. Dom had a more viable plotline fall into her lap in the final five minutes, and she will no longer be obsessing over Vanessa when the "real" prize (Jeff's fortune) is seen to be slipping through her fingers. Just as we seem to have seen the last of another "heavily recurring" character (Nadia), I could see them using the hiatus as an opportunity to finish the plots of some recurring characters in order to start fresh with some new ones. Also, Vanessa's "purpose" plot-wise seemed to be "the secret stepchild" and everybody seems to know the secret now, so she's lost a lot of her luster.

They might be able to delay it until the season finale, though it wouldn't surprise me if he went as early as episode 3.13.
