Anyone who has watched PBS NewsHour will be familiar with Gwen Ifill. Probably more familiar to American TV viewers, Gwen was also know for moderating the Vice-Presidential debates in 2008 and 2012.

I regularly watch PBS and noticed that she wasn't on screen recently at a time when I thought she would be taking a leading role in their election coverage. I hadn't realised she was sick and that was why I hadn't seen her.

I'm a longtime PBS Newshour watcher and this news was heartbreaking. Only very recently have they, PBS, even mentioned she was out for illness but I never thought it was this severe. :rip:

The Newshour is broadcast in Australia as well. I haven't watched for a while since they moved it to an inconvenient timeslot but I was very sad when I heard this.
