Has anybody watched it? It's all very juicy with the twisty plots you'd expect from Desperate Housewives and Footballer's Wives.

    "He...he's my real father"*

Oh for heaven's sake! It's like 4 seasons of Revenge crammed into 8 episodes!

We watched the first episode over the weekend. Wasn't sure what to make of it and found Michael C Hall's accent a little distracting, then during the last five minutes of that episode, we were hooked. I couldn't see the Footballer's Wives vibe you picked up on and thought it was more like BROADCHURCH.

Episode two and all that changed, I totally got the FW vibe, especially with Sia and her parents as they try and cover their tracks. I also thought the opening scene to the second episode was brilliantly done by going over old scenes while incorporating scenes we hadn't seen. Really looking forward to episode 3 tonight. It'sd full of all kinds of mystery with plenty of possible scenarios.

I was shocked, but totally loved the angle they went with the Marshall family.

I agree, but he's also the executive producer or something so maybe it would never have happened without him.
I guess it was a matter of timing since he was already in the neighborhood (filming The Crown).

Accents can be a strange thing. On the one hand, I can spend a good portion of an episode distracted by something like this, however, if the actor plays a convincing role and I start to connect with the character, it all changes. I was speaking with wifey about how the second episode was that good that I completely forgot about the way he spoke and a great plus is forgetting the connection with DEXTER. It is no more about the actor and more about the character and his story.

Good point about The Crown, I'd forgotten he had joined that series.

Now that's funny because I started to make the connection with DEXTER:D (I usually think of him as the SFU guy).
Only goes to show how different our associations and interpretations can be:)

Ha! I remember doing SFU in between seasons of DEXTER and had a hard time trying to separate the two :D

We did episodes 3 & 4 this evening and it just gets more twisted and torn between demanding to know the whole story and not wanting it to end.

A more important question would be "why haven't you watched it yet?"

We did 5 & 6 last night and this programme is mental but in the best possible way. So much mayhem and yet completely addictive.

Looking forward to finishing it tonight and I have no idea, absolutely no idea what will happen.

Maybe the idea that MCH's character had so much time to do his own investigations is what made me think of DEXTER.
It's full of real and misleading clues, and I found the story's conclusion very satisfying.

But nothing could prepare me for the horrible tragedy of THE CHALET, that was a show that really lingered.
If you liked THE RED RIDING TRILOGY then I can recommend this French mini-series.

What a fantastic drama this has been, there was never a moment where I wasn't glued to the screen, forever trying to second guess what was going to happen and failing most times. I was worried that it wouldn't end very well, but that's because I couldn't believe a well-written drama would last until the dying seconds.

I also loved how the last episode wrapped everything up so neatly because it was quite chaotic at times.

I haven't heard of these, are they on Netflix?

I also liked the "karma" angle.
I have the Red Riding Trilogy on DVD, The Chalet is on netflix but I think that varies between countries, but since it's one of the netflix-originals it should show up at some point.

Yes, absolutley, I would have been disappointed had it gone the other way.

I've never heard of this, I've just read about it on Wiki and the ripper part won me over instantly, so I ordered the DVD from eBay for £6:99.

I'll look out for The Chalet, it sounds interesting.

I keep forgetting to mention this, but seeing Amber back on my screen has given me a taste to do Footballers' Wives again, only I'll quit it before the final season, well I might get sucked in once I start watching again.
