Or kill? Or maybe both?
When Alexis was on the staircase balcony he chose strangulation but what if the drama had been her throwing her off the staircase balcony? Like he runs up the stairs and pushes her forward? This was used later when Adam pushes dex who bumps into Alexis and the railing breaks.
I thought the season 8 run for governor was ridiculous, as I said before. He was guilty of manslaughter. He was involved in the shooting of Rasheed Ahmed. He had crippled Roger Grimes (whom Paulsen miraculously cured in season 9, then unceremoniously had murdered by someone who had even forgotten about it). I think more of his dirty laundry should have come to light. Also, someone, like Tracy should have used other cover-ups he and Laird had committed for Denver Carrington, and have one come out every now and then or use to blackmail him (Claudia could also work--what Matthew had told her).
But let's face it, finding out that he had an affair with a man in his early 20s, some wealthy old man who taught him the oil business and some few other tricks, and then that old man died under mysterious circumstances one night with Blake having seen him last, thus giving birth to his hostility toward gay men would be the kind of plot John Forsythe would never go for--sad considering his movie roles.
Mrs Gunnerson would probably break her fall. Bounce her back even!
Although the Roger Grimes story had been tinkered with before Paulsen got there, but, yeah, just a little more of an explanation would have taken care of these inconsistencies, yet they never really gave any.
And, yes, dealing with Blake's background would have made the gubernatorial race all the more interesting --- maybe Blake could be pardoned for his manslaughter conviction by the sitting governor of Colorado only weeks before Blake begins his campaign which, were he to be successful in his run, would ultimately oust that same governor.
