No she wasn't. She was always a good strong character, with the exception of season ten just before she left the show.

As we know now, that was the producers of Dallas taking it out on the character via the storylines because the actress (Victoria Principal) wanted to leave.

Shame on them for sullying the character like that just because Victoria wanted to move on to do other things. :(

But her acting. It was quite uneven for the first four years -- sometimes as mediocre as Presley would later be.

I always considered regurgitating the story an odd thing for the writers to do. It was if they were saying to regular viewers of Dallas that we need to revisit the story because we now have a huge star in our midst. Unwarranted of course. I don't like when writers treat their viewers that way - a bit of a turn off. As for Charlie being the daughter - or not - of Bobby? Didn't bother me either way.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who liked Jenna a lot. :)
I've noticed a lot of fans on here don't like her and I don't understand why.

Then as for whining, yes Pam whined more than Jenna. I never saw Jenna as a whiner either.

Then as for Charlie, yes she whined sometimes. But nowhere near as much as Olivia Cunningham on Knots Landing. Compared to Charlie she was a real cry baby! :giggle:

I liked Jenna, and I thought PP's acting was better in her first year than later.

She wasn't really a whiner so much as a gentle moaner; it's the moaning of a woman who can't really act all that well, yet wants to inject her dialogue with meaning.

I guess that my own dislike for Jenna as a character could have a lot to do with the fact that the writers/producers rewrote the Jenna story! And I felt that they played me for a fool!

Of course, PP can't or shouldn't be blamed for the wrongdoings of the writers/producers.

I see it as a chicken or the egg thing with Cilla. Did the writers just not know what to do with Jenna anymore no matter who played her, or did Cilla's poor acting skills necessitate the dumbing down of her character for her? Writers can only write to the strengths of the actors, so pretty sure most of the blame falls on her. In fairness, Katzman and his directors should have given her more coaching to improve her acting and help her succeed in the role.

I think Cilla was fine in the role of Jenna. She added a vulnerability and elegance to the role that the first two Jenna's lacked. She turned Jenna more into a lady.

I never liked the first two Jenna's. I saw them as "fake Jenna's" just like Donna Reed was "the fake Miss Ellie!"
Maybe it has something to do with that I began watching the show in season 10. So Priscilla's incarnation of Jenna was the first one I saw. So to me she was Jenna.

I think most Bobby & Pam fans have problems with Jenna and I can certainly understanding wanting your favorite couple to be together. But well after Bobby and Pam had divorced and Pam was seeing Mark Graison they had no choice but to introduce another love interest for Bobby as well and personally I found Jenna a lot more likable than say someone like Holly Harwood or even Mark Graison.

I like the fact that Jenna was Bobby's first love and that their story pre-dated Bobby and Pam's story.

Yes the paternity issue had been solved at the end of episode 8, but I can understand why the writers decided to revist the storyline anyway when Priscilla joined the cast. It was a good storyline that added some much needed drama and also created some tension and ups and downs between Bobby and Jenna. Also it enabled Katherine to go look for Naldo to have it solved once and for all.

Jenna #2, Francine Tacker, was the strongest actress, albeit with an unfortunate hairdo which emphasized her schnozz; while Jenna#1 in the form of Miss Fairchild was far too opportunistic for the later, smugger Bobby to embrace.

So Priscilla's more soulful Jenna worked best by that point in the show, if only her elocution didn't suffer (as did Victoria's in the beginning, and as did Josh and Jesse's in nuDALLAS) from Really-Goodlooking-Word-Swallowing Syndrome.

Porn actors/actresses used to have the same problem, although swallowing their words wasn't their main function.

Of course today, in the 21st century, everybody knows how to act fresh out of the womb. I blame the Internet.

Totally agree. I had mentioned this in another post, on another thread, that Priscilla Presley's quiet demeanor worked in her favour when the role of Jenna was resurrected. She had great chemistry with Patrick and certainly had Pam rattled in the powder room (Oil Baron's Ball) scene. It's what came after when the writers decided to give Jenna heavy duty stories that it all began to unravel.

And what dope decided pairing up Ray and Jenna was such a good idea? 1. They broke up one of the more interesting couples in Ray and Donna. 2. The pairing of Ray and Jenna just did not work, at all, from my point of view.

The first Jenna was the "real" one to me! :giggle: Didn't like it one bit, when they began rewriting history! :frustration:

And to no surprise, the first Miss Ellie was the "real" one to me!

(I think that I'd be able to accept another attress playing the matriarch, if she (unlike Donna Reed) had stayed true to Barbara Bel Geddes' original version! I've often thought that Betty White possibly could have done a good job at playing Miss Ellie! But, of course, I'd much rather have BBG!)

Honestly, my dislike for the character of Jenna has nothing to do with me liking Bobby and Pam as a couple! It would be like saying that fans of JR and Sue Ellen as a couple would automatically dislike all their past lovers! Things just aren't that simple, IMO! For instance, I grew to love Afton even though she bedded JR for a while! ;)

The Naldo storyline was bad and far too long for my taste! And that certainly didn't do wonders for my feelings towards the character of Jenna! :(

I agree, it didn't seem to have a tremendous impact, which is probably why I found it so boring.

I agree. I couldn’t stand Priscilla Presley playing Jenna. She was constantly whining, miserable and combative. I couldn’t understand how Bobby could stand her, much less have all that history with her. There was nothing likable about her, and when Charlie got older I couldn’t stand her either. So rebellious, disrespectful and obsessed with her mother’s love life. She did remind me of Lucy in her teenage years, acting out to get attention.

To be honest Priscilla Presley's version of Jenna bored me to tears.

Both her & Charlie did nothing but whine & act outraged through the majority of season ten.

When she hooked up with Ray in the following season the character's redeemed themselves a bit & weren't as whiny but I was still glad to see the back of them when they left with Ray. :)
