Season 4 was still entertaining enough, but mostly hitchhiked on the success of the previous seasons. That quintessential Falcon Crest atmosphere was still there, but it was fading.

Yes, "most improved show" is bullshit. Season 3 was far superior.

They got their analysis right about season 8 and then season 9 was the final nail in the coffin. At least the show went out on a high point.

I mostly agree with these results except for the comment about season 4. Although I really liked this season, it's hard think it was significantly better than season 3 which was excellent.

IMHO the fourth season while very entertaining with the Riebmann stuff and later the Rossini's plan the collection of 30 episodes did not have anything to improve on the previous season. Season 4 was better in quality than season 5, which was also surpassed by the Freilich years.

Kate Vernon is being interviewed and is asked how she landed the role, of Lorraine Prescott, ('behind the scenes', from season 4, 1984 - '85):

"I think it was seven auditions. Seven auditions! Every audition the room would fill up, with more and more people. The last audition was with Lorenzo Lamas and then I got the part."

The soap digest category mod isn't a fan of doppelgängers then.
