Sex-mad large house spiders have been begun their annual mating season weeks early because of the warm, wet summer. Perfect crop growing conditions has heralded an early harvest – and spawned a mass move out of the countryside’s by some of its scariest looking creatures. Large house spiders are harmless for all of their huge size, hairy legs and an ability to clock up speeds of 1.18mph in a straight sprint, but that does not stop them turning arachnophobes into shivering wrecks. With farmers getting to work with their combine harvesters earlier this summer, it has meant the vanguard of three-inch wide large house spiders losing out on some of their usual hunting habitat and so heading into homes for premature orgies of passion. One of the first witnesses of the seasonal horror show is pub landlady Sam Watt who trapped and filmed this monster after it emerged in her bedroom, scaring the wits out of her pet cocker spaniel Tilli. Last night we had this crawling up our blinds Tonight was settling down to watch DEFENDERS and this caught my attention. I'm not usually that spooked about them, but two, this size, in as many nights is really starting to freak me. All I keep doing is looking around the room, it's pathetic!
