Interesting video about the writing process, also includes some nice scenery.
I can't wait for this, it's felt like an eternity since the news of a new show broke out.
Discovery has it's Spock/Data character. And you could add Odo and The Doctor to that list as well.
As well as Seven and possibly T'Pol
A new trailer sees the Klingon war ignite.
I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to this, but one thing worries me from this trailer - the singing.....!
Thanks for that. I found some links to it on YouTube but it wouldn't play for me there.
It will probably be as divisive as the theme from Enterprise - unless it's just for the trailer.
Meanwhile, they're now saying that Burnham is Spock's half-sister - Amanda's child raised on Vulcan after Amanda's death. Another already controversial move.
"Star Trek has its first openly gay TV character and first black female lead".
It's somewhat ironic that they keep saying over and over that there's no need for it to be said.
I wish they wouldn't keep mentioning it because it makes it sound like they are doing this to make a stand. I found it annoying in this year's Doctor Who by how many times they were having Bill comment about being gay. Just let it happen, like they have done with The Flash and Gotham.
The news is coming think and fast now.
@Mel O’Drama - I wonder if Burnham is pronounced "Burn'am" or "Burn Ham".
I don't like that they said theme 'song' even though I couldn't find anything to confirm it was a song. I really hope they don't do what they did with ENTERPRISE
I just hope the Intro isn't a "song" like on dreadfully stupid "Enterprise", because that's just NOT Star Trek! No way EVER! NOPE!
It's WRONG! NOT what i wanna see!!!
And don't listen to the stupids who might take you into season 2 ... they're CRAP! Just listen to the ones that really know Star Trek, as they know what they're talking about now for about 60 years! So PLEASE don't get yourself fooled!
Sorry, too many beers yesterday, i was bored.
I did agree with your first point, but admit I wasn't fully understanding of this part. Who are the stupids and what's taking that into season 2?
I have absolutely no idea!
As I've said, I really didn't mind the song on Enterprise but my impression here is that it's a theme "tune".
Just another example of sloppy language. There's a radio announcer here who repeatedly refers to the "tunes" he's playing. To my way of thinking, if it has words it's a "song".
Didn't find a way to embed an instagram-video here, so therefore just the link.
Star Trek: Discovery's captain Jason Isaacs is looking forward to pissing off die-hard fans
Star Trek: Discovery is gearing up to boldly go where no Star Trek series has gone before, and one of the show's stars doesn't really care if you're going to be mad about it.
We already know that Discovery will be set roughly a decade before the events of the original 1960s series (and has nothing to do with the current feature films either), but now Jason Isaacs is warning that the series won't necessarily follow Star Trek canon – and he doesn't care if die-hard Trekkies are upset with some of the changes.
"I don't mean to sound irreverent when I say I don't care about the die-hard Trek fans," Isaacs told the New York Daily News. "I only 'don't care' about them in the sense that I know they're all going to watch anyway.
"I look forward to having the fun of them being outraged, so they can sit up all night and talk about it with each other."
And as for how the sci-fi series may be a little different in its most recent incarnation, Isaacs had this to say:
"It's Star Trek, but not as we know it. There are places obviously where they've observed canon to do with things like uniforms and badges and stuff, but there are places where the rules of storytelling are reinvented."
Isaacs will play the captain of the USS Discovery, Gabriel Lorca, a character he's already described as having a lot of "rough edges".
"[I'm] not allowed to say that my captain will probably be the most f**ked up," Isaacs said during the show's Comic-Con panel last month. "[But] he has a lot of rough edges."
The new series is coming to us from Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman, with The Walking Dead's Sonequa Martin-Green, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon's Michelle Yeoh, Anthony Rapp, Wilson Cruz and Hellboy's Doug Jones also starring.
There's been some confusion about Burnham's relationship to Spock - and it doesn't help that some people tend to use the terms "step-" and "half-" (sister) interchangeably. This article seems to clear it up - and it's neither. From this description "adopted" doesn't seem accurate either. "Foster" seems closest to the mark.
Separate names with a comma.
