Away back in July 1984 the Chicago Tribune interviewed Susan Sullivan. The question of ranking FALCON CREST to DALLAS and DYNASTY was put to her. Susan’s reply was as follows:

“I have a little problem answering that question because I don’t watch the other shows. But my sense is that ‘Dynasty’ is much more cartoonish. Bigger than life characters, great outfits, big diamonds. Everyone outdoing everybody else. Our show goes in for a bit of that. But our characters are more grounded in reality. The bad guys have sympathetic corners. I mean our villain drinks milk.” The interview seemed to be a bit of an eye opener, so to speak. Susan didn’t comment on DALLAS at all. There you go!

A funeral is taking place, with Fr. Curtis officiating. A character who was in a lot of Falcon Crest history is being laid to rest. Many Tuscany Valley people are there, to pay their respects, (a scene from season 3, 1983 – ’84):

Fr. Curtis: “……. May her soul and the souls of all the recently departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.”

The funeral attendants disperse. Fr. Curtis sympathises with those still there.

Fr. Curtis, while kissing: “Peace Maggie!”

    Maggie: “Thank you father.”

He kisses Vicki, offering the same gesture.

Vicki to Maggie: “I just can’t believe it.”

Maggie: “I know. Come on Vicki.”

A dark haired man is standing behind the bereaved.

    Dr. Michael Ranson: “Maggie.”

Maggie: “Michael.” They hug, “Oh Michael. Michael. I’m so glad you’re here. We tried to reach you.”

Michael: “Good to see you! Vicki. You’ve grown. How are you?”

    Vicki: “I’m okay!”

Maggie: “How did you find out?”

Michael: “Oh family network. You know Chase’s mother and my mother were always feuding but they were still sisters.”

Maggie: “You’ll drive in our car.”

    Michael: “Sure!”

Michael: “I came by cab. I barely had a chance to change at the hotel.”

Maggie: “Oh please you’ll stay at our guest house.”

Michael: “That’s very kind. Thank you!”

Best not to upset the apple cart at Lorimar, from where she was drawing her fat checks.

    Angela drank milk?
But she owned a wineyard! Surely her preferred drink should have been wine or? ;)

No, dear. Richard drank milk ...through umpteen episodes. More memorably, Lorraine tried (but failed) to use milk to keep daddy-o in a good mood ahead of a discussion on Lance; Richard wondered where all his milk was disappearing to after he married Terry, and learnt it was going into her bath (like Cleopatra). Richard used milk to sober up after getting drunk on 2 glasses of whatever poison he'd ordered after seeing Terry in 'close proximity' with Lance at the Turf Club, then poured the milk remnants over her coiffure in their fight, but still couldn't avoid the hangover his brother spotted the morning after fight sex. Perhaps, a bloody Mary would have been more useful.

Angela was selective about what she drank. She had wine for blood.

Lol at Zable! Richard was partial to the odd champagne as well. Wasn't he?

Richard did drink champagne but very rarely (about 2 glasses as Zable has said). I wonder what the Dynasty people thought of Falcon Crest? Abby Dalton and John Forsthye played tennis occasionally. Could they have talked shop away from the camera.

They probably did. Abby was always very vocal, with her demands.
