    All Nik for me...

    1. The Riddle
    2. Die Laughing
    3. Show Them What You're Made Of
    4. 15 Minutes
    5. What It Is
    6. Wouldn't It Be Good
    7. Dark Glasses
    8. Have A Nice Life
    9. Can't Get Arrested
    10. Cloud Nine

I knew The Riddle was going to be my #1, but after ploughing through his first albums filled with - sorry to say - mediocre synthpop songs I almost gave up on him, but with his 1998 album "15 Minutes" it got very interesting again.

I also did the Howard Jones playlist but couldn't find anything better than the 10 NK songs I already had.

    M People

    (Heather Small)

    pm.jpg

M People is an English dance music band which formed in 1990 and achieved success throughout most of the 1990s. The name M People is taken from the first letter of band member Mike Pickering's first name who formed the group. In December 2016, Billboard magazine ranked them as the 83rd most successful dance artists of all-time.

    mp.jpg

After the release of The Best of M People, the band took an extended hiatus. Heather Small recorded a successful solo album: Proud and it seemed that the band had split. However, a re-packaged greatest hits album entitled Ultimate Collection and released in 2005 led the band to embark on a short promotional tour of the UK. Small continued to pursue a solo career releasing her second solo album Close to a Miracle in 2006.

    Nik's B-side "Dark Glasses" became Edwina Laurie's A-side.

Nice. Bandito are new to me so I hadn't heard that one before. It's very Almighty-esque.

My favourite version of WIBG is this one, which is all stripped back and brings out the beauty in Nik's lyrics.

Back when we did the Madge Eighties Top 15 I got into the zone (or even the groove) and compiled my Nineties favourites in anticipation of this.

I can dig it out easily enough, but I think it will need a bit of re-jigging to fit my current mood.

Funny - I was just thinking about looking up my top 15 80s because I've been totally loving the remix of "Who's That Girl" and the single "The Look of Love"

Looking back, I listed WTG at number 7 and TLOL isn't in my top 15.

If I was to do another 80s top 15, they would both be in my top 4. I love how it all depends on where we're at when we create our lists.

WTG is a very summery song, I think. It's perfect for this weather.

    The Look Of Love
has emerged as something of an Eighties Madge favourite of mine, even though I didn't care for it at the time. I think it was very near the top of my Eighties Top Fifteen and it still would be today.

Absolutely. That's why it's really good to revisit artists sometimes, I think, because peoples lists are so different.

Actually, the whole WTG album feels really summery to me. Probably in large part because - like True Blue before it - it was released during what I remember as a particularly nice summer.
